The special two DVD set previews, an interview with Roger Ebert, an interview with director Isao Takahata, a biography of original author Akiyuki Nosaka, a biography of director Isao Takahata, a Japanese release promo, storyboards that go through the entire movie, a historical perspective look, a DVNR featurette, an art gallery, a locations then and now feature, bonus storyboards, DVDROM link-up, a US trailer and a Japanese trailer.
Final Verdict: This was a really good film. Although it takes place during wartime, it is far more than an action film. It's hard to write up a good summary to make it sound like a very appealing movie because, actually, little happens. However, so much is conveyed and it's so well done that it makes a great cinematic experience. This movie has some great characters as you watch them struggle to survive and try to live on their own.
