Hellsing

Directed by: Yasunori Urata

The objective of the Hellsing Organization is to search and destroy vampires. However, one of their top agents, Alucard, is a vampire. Despite this seeming conflict of interest Alucard hunts down these "impure" vampires. When given the choice of death or "life" Seras Victoria chooses to become a vampire after Alucard shoots her in order to kill another vampire. Seras joins the Hellsing Organization and fights the cravings to drink the blood provided to her in medical bags despite advice to do otherwise. They encounter vampires that have been created by humans and others trying to stop them.

The DVD features contain the first three episodes, concept art, previews, a creditless opening, a music video trailer, and exclusive photos of an action figure. The second DVD has the next three episodes, concept art, a noncredit ending, and exclusive photos of another action figure, previews, and about seventeen minutes worth of subtitled staff interviews. The third DVD has 3 more episodes, Japanese packaging art, another non-credit ending, concept art, and previews. The fourth DVD has 4 episodes, clean closing number 3, concept art, weapons, magazine ads, and previews.

Final Verdict: Although there seem to be many out there Hellsing is the first vampire anime I have encountered. Although I believe you are supposed to like Alucard I find that I really don't. Other than a few of the minor characters I don't really feel for the characters. The series is okay, but not the best out there and seems to improve a bit after the first episodes.
