Metropolis
Directed by: Rintaro
Metropolis is set in the future where humans and robots coexist. However the robots are restricted to certain areas and if they break any restrictions they are destroyed. Duke Red builds Ziggurat, a giant tower that is also a giant weapon. He also employs a scientist to make a robotic replica of his dead daughter to rule the world from the Ziggurat. Rock his "son," someone he took in as an orphan, attempts to stop this by destroying the lab but the robot survives. Kenichi and Tima, the robot, run from the pursuing Rock. Tima is later faced with questions about what she actually is.
The DVD features are mostly located on the second disc. They include a photo gallery, filmographies, and a history of Metropolis, filmmaker interviews, and trailers. It also has animation comparisons that show the stages to make a finished scene, with two scenes to choose from. It also has an Animax special making of Metropolis.
Final Verdict: First off, I have a complaint. I do not know what the dubbing director was thinking but all of the voices seem like they were slowed down and made deeper. The beginning, first hour or so, was fairly uninteresting. However, it did pick up near the end but only a bit.
