Trusting the French

Trust the French, or so they say. Well, I guess there are exceptions to everything. Many of you have heard about the skating debacle by now. Apparently the, fragile, judge was “pressured” to give high marks to the Russians so the Russian judge would do the same to the French in another skating event. Not that there is any evidence that the French are at all weak, WWII, but does anyone else see the irony in this. To put in it perspective the corrupt judge gives high marks to the Russians then admits it. Why should we trust her now? For all we know she had fallen asleep during the performances and gave random scores. So trust her after she’s proven she can’t be trusted? Maybe she just doesn’t like Russia. Perhaps it’s too cold for her liking. Or she may be afraid of the people. Why can’t she be lying again? The point of the whole matter is you are probably going to have favoritism among judges anyway. I highly doubt this is the first judge whose scores have been tainted by politics. So two sets of gold medals were awarded. Personally I don’t watch the Olympics, except for Curling. I just can’t get enough of sliding rocks on ice onto a giant target. What? Don’t look at me like that. –2/24/02
