The Consequence

Chapter 1: The New

My name is Aaron. That’s all I can tell you at the moment.

What I can tell you is that humans are no longer the only species with technology on earth anymore. And no, the primates have not gotten that smart yet. Earth is being invaded by the Yeerks.

Yeerks have conquered entire planets. And they never had to use weapons either. Yeerks don’t need to kill to conquer. Instead, they enslave a creature by crawling into the hosts’ ear canal and wrap themselves around the hosts’ brain. Taking full control of the host. The person (or whatever the host is) becomes a controller.

However, some are strong. Some manage to fight the Yeerk. They never win though. I know. I was a controller. My parents and my twin sister Alli and my younger brother Seb were enslaved too.

I was saved though. By a group called the Animorphs. They’re the only ones between the Yeerks and world domination. You can now find out what it’s like to be enslaved. I’ll tell you.

I sat at the meeting. I had joined the Sharing today. I had nothing else to do. My parents were barely home. My twin sister was busy with her extra homework. I had been expelled from school for being caught with alcohol. Not that I cared. It was my parents fault for not paying any attention to me.

I got up to go to the bathroom. On my way there, I suddenly heard someone scream. I turned toward the direction of the voice.

I was staring at a wall. I heard the scream again. I walked toward the wall. I touched it, and realised it wasn’t solid. I pushed it and fell through a passage. I summer-salted down the passage and tumbled down.

I looked around the room I was in. It was rather dark. I heard another scream. I took one step, and heard someone else. What was strange was it was like it was in my head.

*You fools. You let a human get in here. How on earth did he get past the Bio-Filters.*

“He came through the passage in the hall.” Said an odd creature. It was like a prehistoric raptor. Except it had blades on its wrist, tail, head and knees.

*Find him. And when you do, Aslik747 will infest him.* Said the voice in my head again.

I was sure they were talking about me. I decided to try and quietly find a way out.

I made my way around a large pool thing filled with some kind of strange goo.

I looked up and saw something I wished I hadn’t. There was a line of people leading to the pool, and near the pool in that line was my family. My mother, father, Alli and Seb. They were all in the line.

Suddenly, two of the raptor things grabbed hold of me from behind. Of course, only one of them was needed. They were extremely strong.

They walked me to the back of the line, and after a while, I was the one being lowered into the pool thing. I felt a strange pain in my ear, and then I passed out.

I was dreaming. Something was in front of me. I couldn’t quite tell what it was. It looked sought of like a centaur, but it was shrouded in mist.

*So, this is what humans dream about?* Said a voice in my head.

*Who said that.* I called with my mind. Somehow I was speaking with my mind and not my voice.

*I am Aslik747. And you are now my host. I’m in control of your body now.* Said Aslik747. I could see him. He was a strange slug.

*What are you?*

*I’m a Yeerk.*

I suddenly realised that he was looking at my thoughts. It was like a video.

I was very alone with just Aslik to talk to. One night, when he was sleeping, I woke. For the first time, he was weak. If I tried, I might be able to escape.

Then I realised that that was exactly what Aslik wanted me to do. He wanted me to underestimate him.

Unlike him though, I couldn’t pour through his thoughts, so I couldn’t know why he wanted me to underestimate him.
