Ashitaka was simply walking by the woods on the edge of his village when he sensed something that wasn't quite right. Not too long afterwards a giant mass of what looked like purpelish snakes broke throught the stone wall and into the field. For an instant, these snakes revealed their host. A boar god. Ashitaka told his sister and her friends to run as the boar god went after them, but one of them tripped and fell. Ashitaka rushed toy their aid on his red elk, Yukul. He shot an arrow into the boar's eye, but paid a price. The demons that were using Nago as a host seared the flesh on his arm, beginning the process of transforming him into a demon as well. His tribe, the Emishi people, help him as best they can, but the wisewoman told him his fate. The curse would devour him and slowly take over. Soul and all. At the suggestion of the wisewoman, Ashitaka, the last prince of his people, rose to meet his fate. He cut his hair, becoming dead to his tribe, and went searching for the forests of the gods, for some way to release his curse. "The fate of the world rests on the courage of one warrior."
