Ami enjoys reading, swimming, and cats. She is very shy and isn't at all interested in competing with others, despite her extremely high test scores. On the rare occasions when someone does outscore her, she does get a little annoyed, however. She is also a fan of The Three Lights, which can come of some surprise to some. Though shy, she is capable of crushes and some romance, as seen with her interactions with Ryo Urawa aka Greg, a fellow classmate who can see into the future.
It will be interesting to note that Mizuno Ami is the reborn soul of the Sailor Mercury from the Silver Millenium. She was a guardian of Princess Serenity and a member of the princess's court. She, along with the princess and the other guardians, were sent to the future to be reborn.
In battle, Sailor Mercury is among the weakest in terms of power. However, she almost always manages to find the enemy's weak point before everyone else. She has been known to use a visor and a small, compact super computer to accomplish this.
Abilities in battle include the following:
Shabon Spray or Mercury Bubbles-Produces an array of bubbles in defense.
Shabon Spray Freezing-A powered-up version of the above.
Shine Aqua Illusion
Shine Snow Illusion
Mercury Aqua Rhapsody-Produces a stream of water from her Mercury Lyre or harp.
Mercury Aqua Mirage
Sailor Mercury also has the ability to produce an intense fog during battle. Though she does have some control over water, it seems as if much of her powers are ice-based.
