The Guilt Without You

Sometimes I close my eyes and I pretend that
I can see you here with me. I pretend that
I taste you in my mouth and I can feel you.
It's so cold without you. I can't live.
It hurts my heart so much. I.. think now..
Lying here, the copper taste in my mouth,
the smell of soot in my hair.. that here without you.. I die.

(-To this world I'm unimportant just because I have nothing to give-)

Heero watched from the corner view of his screen as Duo's mobile suit shifted across the ocean to the far left, quickly leaving his line of vision as he kept to the designated course. There was a small degree of comfort in seeing the visual, monitor to his corner, displaying Duo's face. Duo was wearing a devilish smile to his lips, his tongue slipping out to wet his lower lip. The American was practically hungry for blood. Ready to get started. It was something about that look in Duo's eyes that brought out the hunger in Heero.

He had to be careful, he had to remain set to his mission. Ahead of him all he could see was trees and the mountains on the horizon, hazed in a moist fog. Wing began to slowly descend; it's feet brushing against the treetops as a flock of birds began to flee his path. Slow Yuy, steady. Cause too much of a stir and they'll know. Heero liked days like these. The gloomy ones. Where the blue and gray mingled together over the horizon, the air was misty. It was good for him. Gave him an advantage. Something about the mission wasn't right, but he couldn't place his finger on it. It was just unusual. How it had been sent. Everything about it.. was flawed. In fact if he thought about it-

"Oi! Heero!" Duo called over the radio.

Heero clenched his teeth. "Duo, shut up!"

     "Demo.. Heero!"

"Dammit! What the hell is it Duo?"

"Out on my date Sakura had found some Gundanuim alloy-"

"Not now! I don't need to hear about your *damn* date, Duo! Use the radio for urgent matters!"

Duo didn't respond back. Good, he's finally shut up for once. He lifted his gaze to the small monitor, Duo was glaring sternly back at Heero. Now isn't the time for this. He really hated for Duo to mention that girl's name. He hated for Duo to mention any one. Just as he did when they were schoolmates and Duo had ranted on about the different girls he's talked with. It was all babble that didn't interest him. But what had.. was the fact that Duo would leave that crowd for him every time. No matter how cruel he'd been to Duo, that stupid boy always returned to him and treated him as a friend. So.. what was Duo now? His friend? His.. koi?

"I want you Heero. I have.. for a very long time.. you baka."

I wanted him even then. Have we felt this way all this time? K'so! I have to stop thinking like this on mission. Quatre radioed in the location points for Heero to stop. Orders he followed with precision. As Wing moved above the mass of trees a sudden blast slammed against the patch of trees to his right, sending them in flames as the explosion hit. Brief static flushed over the radio as the warnings of enemy vessels began blaring wildly on his screen. "Enemy detected ahead." Wing jerked to the side as the debris of flaming wood tossed through the air aimlessly past him. "K'so! I've been spotted!" Heero hissed, shifting Wing to the left. A sudden series of enemy mobile suits began to appear on his screen.

(-So you call this your free country tell me why it cost so much to live. Tell me why-)

"Quatre! Dammit! Quatre!" He called on the radio. Ahead he could see ten mobile suit swirling through the air after him, each firing off a blast shot, the large, explosion, balls of light ramming against his shield as he tried to dodge. They were fast. It must have been a model upgrade. But I'm faster. Heero threw up his acceleration speed, rushing past the small fleet as they swiveled to turn back and chase Wing. Wing extended it's beam saber, and with a swift flick Heero threw his Gundam at the OZ suit. Driving his saber through the armor as if it were a tin can, the small suit exploding into flames and gnarled metal as it sprayed past his screen. There was a satisfying relish with the pilots death. Heero felt so damn good. Each and every one of you will die!

"Gundam pilot! You have been spotted! Surrender now and your life will be spared!" One of the ships blew out on it's speaker. Heero clenched tightly to his controls, slamming his shield to crack down on the head of one mobile suit, crushing the neck of the doll before he destroyed it, the hot, burning metal falling down into the blaze below. The Wing pilot ignored the warning. He could kill them all so easily. He slammed down his saber against the next mobile suit, slicing through it as easy as if it were bread. It was funny; Heero actually thought he could hear the muted cries of the soldiers. Their last pleads for their life and to god before he showed them the true face of fear.

(-This world can turn me down but I won't turn away, oh no I won't turn around-)

"Once again I ask you to surrender or be forced with the consequences!" The voice spoke more forcefully, another fleet of ten arriving on the ground, each firing a stream of missiles into the sky, setting the gray skies a blaze in a morbid display of fire works. Wing shook violently as the blast began to surround him, each missiles gaining closer to it's mark as Heero fought against the on coming ships. "I'd rather DIE than surrender!" Heero yelled in a feral manner. The OZ ships did not hear his voice, but it was heard by Duo.

     "Heero? Daijoubu?"

A blast slammed against the side of Wing, throwing the Gundam suit miles back from the explosion, Heero lifting his arms to fold them against his eyes as the unbearable light protruded through the area, the rumble of it's effects sending Wing's computer system into an insane frenzy. Duo's screen began to gain static. Heero slammed his fist against a button, the vulcan's on his shoulder opening to open fire on the fleet as another ten lifted from the trees. "Complete the mission Duo!" Heero growled viciously, his teeth tightening as he tried to keep control.

     "Hai!" Duo said simply.

(-All my work and endless measures never seem to get me very far -)

Another fleet of ten began to lift. They were in formation. The Leo's were on the ground; they were equipped with new upgrades. Special rocket launchers, each pointed to Wing. There must have been at least twenty, each brushing through the smoldering woods, their form wavy in the rapid heat. The gray sky filled with Aries models, swarming towards Heero at a fast speed. Ground and sky units. That wasn't all. He could see ships flying overhead; flying right towards the facility Duo was going for. They weren't fighter ships.. they were transports. Mobile suit transports. Something's not right. That formation.. it's a planned tactic.. "Oi, Heero, I'm at the second line! I've just killed off the ten suits and I'm going for the door!"

(-Walk a mile just to move an inch now even though I'm trying so damn hard I'm trying so hard-)

"You're surrounded. You have been warned, your time is up, and now we will attack! Fire at will!" More of them were swarming in like a collective of bees. Ambush. Another trap! "Duo! Don-" Another blast slammed against Heero's mobile suit, this time the forceful blast slammed Wing against an empty building, sending the building into an explosion, fire and rock debris slamming against Wing as he tried to shield from the damage, Duo's screen going to complete static. "Duo! Quatre? Fuck!" Heero winced, more blasts were coming to him, and they were coming fast. The display was warning Heero of all the damage. He wasn't moving fast enough. He needed to reach Duo. He had to warn Duo. The blasts were getting so close. They were practically pummeling him. The intense heat rushing through the trees as the birds began to bend, and twist in the fire. The old buildings crumbling into pile of broken cinder blocks. More blast slammed against his shield, each hit breaking him further from the front line. How could he hold off that much firepower? He'd already used up his Vulcan ammo, he had a little left, but he couldn't move enough to aim properly. Heero was actually going insane. He knew what Duo was walking into and he couldn't do a damn thing. He pounded his fists against the radio controls. If anything happened to- Duo. With each heart beat. Duo. With the gnarling in his stomach. Duo. Duo. Duo. Duo!

     "DUO!"

(-This world can turn me down but I won't turn away and I won't duck and run, cause I'm not built that way. When everything is gone there is nothing there to fear! This world cannot bring me down no cause I'm already here, oh no! I'm already here, oh no, no!-)

This is really short, ne? *_* Oh well..
