Heero drew his eyes open. He could see
the sunlight pouring in from the window. The windows were open; the cool breeze
was flapping the curtains in the wind. Heero tried to lift his body, a sharp
pain attacking his side. He grunted, his hands touching his bandaged shoulders
and arms. He glanced to his side; Duo was laying in the bed, fast asleep, the
sheets all twisted around his feet. His hand was in a cast, his hair draped
over his body like a cloak. The boy moved unsettled, his eyes barely opened
as they stared up at Heero. "Saa, Heero- so early. Ch' sleep. Don't get
up!" Duo mumbled in a sleepy rant. Heero turned away from Duo, glancing
back out towards the window.
I never told him. I never said it.
A single hand of Duo's raised to touch Heero's unharmed shoulder. "Heero- what's wrong? Mission is over! Heal up; we'll have to go to the space station soon. I'll have to go back to L2. Aren't you happy? You lived through it. Kuso, you aren't gonna heal at this rate-" "Duo-" Duo's fingers felt hot, and burned his skin with their warmth. Duo's fingers slid away, his voice apologetic, "Oi, sorry. Didn't mean to touch you like that." Duo pulled the covered over his wounded form, pressing back into the plush pillow, "I'm going to sleep, and you can stay up if you want." Verbal expressions weren't Heero's area of expertise. He sat up slowly, the sheets draping around his waist. "Dr. Emilio may have escaped," Heero changed the subject, speaking in a bland tone. Duo nuzzled his cheek against the fabric of his pillow, "You think that he'll try to develop the implant further?" "Hai," Heero responded. Duo shook his head, his mouth lapping over the crimpling pillow, "Then you should report it. My mission is complete. This afternoon. I'll return to L2, and you can get back to living the way your were."
Heero's thin body lifted from off the futon, his body moved with such slow pace to the window. He ignored his injuries. Somehow it always helped him to heal faster when he told his mind that he wasn't hurt. The pain that was within him was outweighing his bodily pain. He'd never felt the stinging that pricked his cold, iced heart. He wanted Duo to stay. He didn't want to admit it. He wanted to deny it. But it was there. He enjoyed Duo's company. More than Duo probably even knew. Duo broke the silence, his voice trying to fake a joyous, cocky tone, "Hey, if you still feel like keeping in touch, or don't hate me I can mail you a hot dog from L2. I mean they're really the best! Or maybe when I need some bail money, I'll have a number to call. I haven't been back in L2 for so long. It probably won't be the same-"
"Stay." Duo's muscles stiffened, even Heero could feel that. Heero's eyes regarded the deep violet of Duo's, holding their lingering gazes in a tight bond. "Until you are called for another mission. Stay here." Duo pushed up slightly, his long wavy hair pooling over his shoulders, "I mean, it's not like I have no where to go. I can find a place easily! You shouldn't feel obligated to ask me." Heero softly snorted, kneel back down to the futon, "Baka. It's not my nature to ask without good reasoning." Duo was hanging to his words; he seemed uncomfortable, he wasn't sure of how to react to Heero. Duo slid his fingers up towards Heero, slipping them around the Japanese boys neck. He was testing his limits. Heero could tell that easily. Duo was seeing how far he could go without tipping Heero over the edge. "Thank you, Heero. For helping me out back at the lab. I-" Duo halted his words, closing his eyes for a brief moment, "-I thought you were dead." "Even if I were dead, you could have defeated Moro easily. You had the skill he lacked. Even in your injured state," Heero proficiently stated. Duo smiled, one half of his smile curving further than the other, "Is that so? Yeah, maybe. But- I didn't have the will to fight. You see Heero. Right now, you're all I have. Besides deathscythe, there's nothing in the world I can count on, but I know I can count on you." Duo's hand slid away quickly from Heero when he began to think over what he'd said.
"Ah- Sorry Heero. Don't mean to upset you." Heero clasped his hand to Duo's as it drug against from his neck. "You never answered my question. I asked you to stay here," Heero persisted, but his voice failed to show that, he seemed to remain calm. Duo's smile broadened, his casted hand pushing off Heero's. "Look, there's only one bedroom here. I can't stay, where would I sleep?" Heero replied quickly, "Here." "With you?" "Hai."
Perhaps you believe that I never showed any interest in you until recently. But you're wrong. I have always had that interest. That curiosity. In the one person who called me their friend. The one who stood by me even when I showed the worst to them. I want you. All of you. I can be content, I can desire nothing in this world, if I know I have one thing. You.
He could feel Duo's smile before he even had to see it. "Yes. I'll stay here."
Heero nodded slowly at Duo's confirmation, and with that known he began to rise. Duo protesting, his fingers tugging Heero's pillow, "Hey! W-where are you going?" Heero grasped hold of the doorknob, twisting it, "To get the plastic wrap." "But- there aren't any leftovers to wrap!" "Iie. Duo no baka. It's to wrap you in-" Duo's face flushed, his cocky smile captured by his lips again, "This is definitely a mission I can live through"
"Hai. I promise you Duo, I'm going to give you more. I'm going to feed you all I can. I will not starve, and you shall no longer want. With you, I'll be full."

Author's Last words: Owari??
Did that say.. Owari? Yes! It's done. It's really over! And what better way
to end a story than with the promise of Duo getting a little 'special' treatment.
I hope no one is confused. I'm really glad with how the story turne dout. What
happened to Emilio? Will he find another young boy to carry the implant? And
what about Asoko? Will she ever seek vengence for the death of her brother?
Will she find out that Keith was her brother as well? Will Rei ever find a good
boyfriend? Probably not! LOL I don't plan on making a sequel, just the hint
that they still have a long way to go on the road for peace. Thank you for reading.
Really, I do appreciate it a lot. >_< You suffered through such a long
epic!
