Chapter 2:The Search Begins, How will we survive? Shiria's
solution
Next morning, still in space, the young
girls began to wake up. Nerrisa and Michie were some of the first that were up.
Nerrisa went into the ship's bathroom and washed Michie and herself up. Then
they headed to the bridge to look at the space outside through the windows.
When they got there Shiria and Amber were already at work.
"You
two are working already?" asked Nerrisa still sleepy. "We just
discovered that the ship doesn't have anymore power crystals to keep the ship
going for long. We need to find some more soon," said Shiria.
"Oh,"
commented Nerrisa.
"I'm
hungry," Michie whimpered. "I am too but we are very low on
food," explained Nerrisa.
Shiria
stopped working and walked up to Michie.
"Sweetly,
we can't eat anything until everyone else wakes up. It's best for us to eat
together," Shiria explained.
"But
why?" Michie asked about to cry.
"We
don't want to eat the food that the others may need to eat too," said
Nerrisa hugging Michie. Michie pulled away.
"You're
not my mommy Shiria!" Michie shouted. "I want my mommy! She always
lets me eat when I want!" She ran away from them into another room crying.
Shiria sighs then looks at Nerrisa who has tears in her eyes also.
"All
of our mothers would be feeding us now. But they are gone now," Nerrisa
begins to cry. Amber walks away from the controls and hugs Nerrisa.
"We
can't think about that forever," Amber whispered.
"We
need to be strong," Shiria said. "Celeste (Michie's real name) and
the others have to learn that soon." Then Nerrisa and Amber watches Shiria
walking out of the room quietly to wake up the rest of the girls.
Shiria sighed and walked down the halls
knocking on the doors to wake the rest of girls up. She knew that she seemed
insensitive, not caring or crying much about what has happened like the rest of
them but she knew she couldn't. She believed in order for her friends and
herself was to survive in this dangerous universe she had to lead them to their
goal and to a place where they can be safe. Such young girls like them
shouldn't be out traveling in this endless darkness, Shiria often thought to
herself. She wondered how could she get enough money to buy or find food and
supplies for them. Shiria felt that it was up to her.
"Ok
Shiria we're awake!" shouted Chikara under her blanket with Selene, Umi,
Sumiko, and Yumi.
"I
want more sleep Shiria!" shouted Selene.
"No,
you must get up we are about to land on a nearby planet because we are running
out of power," Shiria explained as she entered the room. All Umi, Sumiko,
and Yumi pulled the blanket off of them and stared at Shiria looking scared.
"Is
that bad, Shiria?" asked Umi. Shiria kneeled down to them and smiled.
"We
need to land on a planet and get some new supplies, food and other nice things
for you guys," she answered. Then she looked at Selene still trying to
sleep.
"Selene,
you have to wake up," Shiria said as she rubbed Selene's shoulder. Then
Selene moved her arm away from her and made a sleepy glare at her.
"You're
not my mother," Selene said. Then the rest of the girls fell silent.
"Shiria,
our parents are gone, aren't they?" Yumi asked about to cry. Shiria looked
back down at the floor trying to avoid the question.
"You
know Shiria just because you're older doesn't mean you can tell us what to do
and act like we automatically obey whatever you say just because our parents
are dead!" Sumiko yelled and ran out the room. Selene sat up and looked at
Sumiko run out the room. Then looked at Shiria and cried.
"I
thought what had happened was just a dream!" Selene cried. Chikara, Umi
and Yumi hugged Selene then stared at Shiria.
"Go
away," demanded Chikara. "We don't want you here."
Shiria
got up and looked at them.
"Ok,
I should give you guys some time together," she said suddenly. Then she
walked out the room.
The room remained quiet for a few minutes.
Shiria stood behind the door thinking to herself, feeling like she wanted to
burst out and cry but didn't.
"Selene,
it's ok. Cry all you like. We all wished it was just a nightmare," Umi
whispered. With that Yumi burst out and cried. Shiria, behind the door, grew
sadder as she listened.
"Who
does that girl think she is?" Chikara asked. "Thinking that she can
tell us what to do."
"She
has no feelings. Her mother died too. Shouldn't she be crying?" asked
Yumi.
"Maybe
she thinks that she suppose to be mature about it," said Umi.
"Maybe
she never did care about her mother! She probably didn't like her because her
mother was strange," yelled Selene.
"Shhh,
Selene calm down," Umi said. "You don't mean that."
"Maybe
that's it. Her mother was a freak. People respected her because she was wise
and had visions but they still said that she was weird," said Yumi.
"That
doesn't mean anything! Chikara's mother had visions too. Come to think of it
all of our mothers did tell us about a vision that was similar to each other.
Let's not blame Shiria for anything. She has feelings too even though she don't
show them. She's always been like that," said Umi.
The
rest of them stopped crying and realized what Umi just said was true.
Meanwhile, Shiria was behind the door
unable to hold her feelings in. She slowly sat down and cried. Michie came from
out of her room and saw Shiria crying. She saw her sitting there in her green
dress that was stained up from yesterday. Her long hair covered her face and
she laid her arms on her knees following her head. Then Shiria felt a small hand
on her head. The little had gently moved her hair out of her face and watched
her tears fall down her face. Shiria looked at Michie and tried to smile.
"So
did you get anything to eat yet?" she asked still crying.
"Gomen
ne Shiria," said Michie as she hugged her. Shiria hugged her back and
cried some more.
"I
don't have a mother now. But I've been thinking that maybe you can take care of
me like a mother would because without you I don't know where to go,"
Michie sobbed.
"Of
course I'll try to do that," sobbed Shiria. "But I feel so
alone."
Meanwhile,
the rest of the girls were in the hall watching Shiria and Michie. They finally
realized that they had to take responsibility for themselves to help Shiria.
An hour later the girls at some fruit and
snacks for breakfast in the ship's small rec area. Some of them giggled only a
little. Usually, when all of them at together, they would play games, make
jokes, and sometimes have food fights. But things were different today.
"This place is small," said Nerrisa
as she bit into her apple. Michie nodded her head in agreement as she sat in
her lap.
"Where
are we going to land, Shiria," asked Chikara.
"We
can't choose a good planet to land on so we have to land on the next planet
that comes to view," answered Shiria.
They
remained silent for a couple of minutes. Michie was watching Selene staring at
her food. It was sliced banana and oranges. Michie just took some of the slices
in her napkin while Selene stayed in her trance. Michie then threw some orange
slices at Selene. Selene looked at her and watched her giggling and eating her
food. Selene got up and screamed in anger.
"I
can't take it anymore Shiria! I want mother!" she yelled. Shiria and the
others just stared at her.
"I
don't like this at all!"
"No
one does," Sumiko said. "Now just eat what you have." Selene
stood there about to cry as the crystal-powered lights went off through the
ship. Some of the girls screamed.
"Shiria,
what happened!" yelled Amber.
"The
crystals must have lost most of its power. We have to regain more energy,"
said Shiria. "Amber and Nerrisa can you both help me try to fix the
problem?"
The
both of them nodded.
"The
rest of you please get to your rooms!"
Amber,
Nerrisa and Shiria left the rec room to get to the crystal main controls. Umi,
Sumiko, Chikara and Yumi were huddled up together as Selene was still standing
wondering where everyone was.
"How
do we get back to our room when everything is dark?" asked Yumi. Then
Chikara felt around the floor for her bag. When she found it she pulled out a
glowing ruby stone.
"We
can use this to light our way," said Chikara. The girls got up and got
Selene to follow them to their room.
"That
was scary," said Selene. "I hate the dark! I want mommy!"
"Be
quiet Selene," said Sumiko. "We all do but we must accept that they
are dead." Chikara put the stone in the middle of the room to light the
room up. The girls looked into their bags and started back to eating their
small amounts of food. They wonder what Shiria, Amber and Nerrisa are going to
do next.
At the crystal controls of the ship
Nerrisa and Amber tried different kinds of power crystals to power the ship
back up but none worked. Shiria looked through the window of the ship keeping
an eye on which planet they have to land on.
"Shiria, the crystals won't work,"
reported Amber. "What do we do now?" asked Nerrisa.
Shiria
sighed then looked backed at a nearby planet.
"Then
we can only land there and see what we can do?" she said as she pointed at
a small planet.
"Do
any of you have any money in your bags?"
Nerrisa
shook her head no.
"I
may have some stuff that can be sold," said Amber. "Like our
stones."
"Our
mothers gave those to us. They are the only things we have of them!"
yelled Nerrisa.
"Besides,
the younger ones like their stones too much. We would have to sell all of the
stones to get the amount of money we need. We have to think of something else,'
said Shiria.
"What
do we need money for?" asked Amber.
"Food,
clothes, supplies, utensils, power crystals and some things for the younger
ones to keep them entertained. About 100 C-gems we need."
"Well,
then maybe we should sell the stones because that's all we have of value. Even
though they are from our mothers," said Nerrisa sadly.
"Well,
maybe we can get temporary jobs there?" asked Amber.
"We
can't stay at these planets too long. Just a few days. We need to do something
that gives us a lot at once," answered Shiria getting annoyed.
"Why?"
"Because
this isn't safe territory. There is barely any law here and anything bad can
happen to use if we stay too long."
"If
there isn't any law then we can just steal 100 c-gems and get out, right?"
asked Nerrisa.
"Only
if you can fight back," said Shiria. "But..."
Nerrisa
and Amber waited to hear what she was about to say.
"Never
mind. We're about to land now," Shiria said still looking in the window.
She went to the controls and had her hand
on a lever. She waited for the ship to fly over the planet so a power beam can
pull the ship down to a landing area. If there was no landing beam then that
means the planet had any life there. But the planet did. There was a small jerk
as the ark was slowly moving down to the surface. Nerrisa stood by Amber and
watched what was going on. Shiria slowly pushed the lever to lower the power in
the ship. At last they finally landed in a ship-docking place. The inside of
the ship was no longer dark because sunlight shined through the windows.
Shiria, Amber and Nerrisa looked through the windows and looked at what the
people of that world were like. Amber and Nerrisa looked at Shiria as she
sighed.
"It's
a pleasure planet," she commented.
"That's
not bad, is it?" asked Amber.
Shiria
shook her head no and walked away from the window.
"So
you know what we are going to do to get a lot of money and supplies in a few
days?" asked Nerrisa.
"I
do but it's something only appropriate for me to do I'm afraid," she
answered. "I wouldn't want any of you to be involved in it."
Amber
and Shiria stared at her for a while.
"But
whatever it is we want to do anything to help no matter what," Amber
insisted.
Shiria walked out of the control room and
brought back her bag with her. She laid it in front of Amber and Nerrisa and
pulled out a crystal necklace and her stone and handed them to them.
"If
you want to help then sell these for a good price and use the money to by food
and stuff to keep warm," said Shiria. "Don't try to so yourselves off
here. Who knows what this people will do to young girls when they have no
guardian around them." Shiria walked out of the room to her room to change
clothes. Amber and Nerrisa examined Shiria's necklace and stone.
"What do you think she is going to do
that we can't help her with?" Amber asked as she looked at her stone.
"I
don't know but I think that she knows what she is doing," answered
Nerrisa. "I guess." Then people of the planet, Maki, came up to the
ship yelling.
"This is planet Maki! All visitors
must come out and show themselves to our national guardians. Please show
yourselves now!" they yelled.
Meanwhile the younger girls were in their
room singing songs until they heard the yelling.
"Is
it the same people that attacked our people? Will they hurt us?" asked
Selene getting very scared. The rest of them gathered around her and hugged
her. Michie sat there staring at the floor about to cry. The people outside
were starting to try to break the ship's door open. Amber and Nerrisa were
about to panic until Shiria out of her room wearing a long black cloak with
make-up on. She opened the door, laid her bag by Amber and walked out to talk
to the people. The men there stared at Shiria for a long time and whispered to
each other. Then finally one man came up to her.
"So
are you the only passenger on this ark-designed ship of yours?" the man
asked.
"No,
some of my friends are here with me," Shiria answered smiling.
"How
many?"
"Nine
in all."
"How
long will you stay here?"
"Just
three days."
"And
what is your name?
"Celia."
"Well
we just need to look inside the ship and then you can go about your business,
Celia."
"Domou
arigatou."
Two men went on the ship and looked in all
the rooms carefully. Amber followed them with Nerrisa hanging from behind her.
Whenever the men looked back at them they would grin and make weird faces and
noises. Shiria tried to look in the ship but the four men surrounding her
wanted to talk to her. She just smiled and giggled at them for a while. Then
she heard a scream from one of the younger girls in the ship. Then the men came
out laughing and making jokes.
"Everything
is fine in there," said one guy.
"Good,
then you can continue your stay here at Maki. Bye Celia-san," said another
man.
"Come
stay at the same hotel that I'm at," smiled one man. Shiria walked up in
the ship and turned to smile at the man.
"Yes,
of course." Then she closed the door.
"Such
stupid animals those men are," she mumbled. "So who was
screaming?"
Selene
and the others ran up to her.
"I
was because one of the men touched me and Chikara," sobbed Selene.
"There,
there, you're ok now," Shiria smiled.
"Didn't
know that you was such a flirt Celia," Amber said sarcastically. Shiria
gave a half smile then picked up her bag.
"So
why the fake name?"
"Because
I don't want the people that attacked our people to find us because they could
have a list of our names and could be looking for us now," Shiria
answered.
Then
Amber walked up to her and opened her cloak a little. She saw Shiria wearing a
very exotic black dress.
"And
looking like a tramp and flirting with dirty men will do any good in helping
us, too?" Amber yelled. Shiria smacked her and walked away from everyone
else. Amber got Shiria's stone and try to throw it at her but missed. She
turned to everyone else and stared at their shocked faces.
"Who
the hell does she think she is?" asked Amber. She sat down and opened her
bag to find something of any great value...

The
girls in this story are the mothers (that I made up) for the Sailor Senshi that
we already know. Celia is actually the same as Shiria. The name Shiria is just
a Japanese version of Celia. For anyone that already knows me from certain RPG
clubs can see that the Shiria in this fan fic doesn't seem like the Shiria (or
Celia) in RPGs. Shiria is a very good person just like her daughter Setsuna but
in RPGs I portray her as a very demanding, sorrowful and kind of a bitch
character because of what she went through in her life made her older self this
way. (See Sailor Coronis profile at
http://www.geocities.com/princess_setsuna_goddess/fansenshi.html to learn more
about Shiria.) One of those things that she went through is about to come up in
the next chapter. I know that Shiria seems like the main character now but
sooner or later the story will be more about the future Queen Serenity, Selene.
The rest of the characters I plan to have chapters that are about them too. So
see ya! Next chapter:
