Duo Maxwell
The wonderful Shinigami!! My favorite character in the whole wide world! An awesome Gundam Pilot, a great personality, and so very kawaii!!
Duo Maxwell had a pretty tough life. He didn't nickname himself Shinigami just to be cool. You'd think from just looking at him, that he was just your average Joe. Well, he's not.
Duo grew up as an orphan, never knowing what happened to his parents. He was a young street rat trying to survive in the cruel world. He lived on the colony L2, where he met Solo, his best friend. Solo was the leader of a group of orphans. A sickness spread among the group, so Solo headed out to get medicine for everyone, excluding himself. It was too late to save him. He died in Duo's arms. Duo wanted to be with Solo, so he named himself "Duo" saying "You're Solo, so together we'll be Duo."
Later he was taken in by Maxwell Church. Sister Helen and Father Maxwell took care of him. Since water was scarce, Sister Helen wanted to cut Duo's hair. He refused, saying it was all he owned. Sister braided Duo's hair as a compromise. Duo liked it, so he kept it that way. Sister Helen had asked Duo,"Do you believe in God?" and Duo replied,"Nope! But I believe in Shinigami!" "You don't believe in God, yet you believe in the God of Death?" she asked. "I've seen lots and lots of dead people." Because of all the death Duo had seen, he would always question himself about the existence of God.
Colony soldiers then came to the church and used it as their headquarters. They kept hurting Sister Helen and Father Maxwell. Duo knew he had to do something about it. He went off to get a mobile suit that the soldiers needed. When he returned, the Alliance had attacked the church, killing everyone.
He then meets Doctor G. Duo now has Deathscythe and wants vengence on Oz and the Alliance.
Shinigami was his nickname, because that's what he thought himself to be. Everyone he has loved has died. Through all the pain and suffering he has gone through, he is still able to fight one. With his jester mask in place, he shows Oz and the Alliance never to mess with Shinigami.
Isn't he a wonderful loud-mouthed baka? As you watch Gundam Wing, he is always smiling and cracking jokes, ne? He is a very strong-willed guy.
