Why?
Kenshin is an awesome character. He is cool, calm, collective, and deadly. Yet, he vows never to kill again in his life. Who isn't enamored with Kenshin? Our group also chose to do a themed cosplay for Halloween. Kenshin just fit.
How it was made
The top was made by using Butterick's kimono pattern. It was altered a little to match Kenshin's sleeves, which are open at the back. For the hakama, we hand made the pattern, which ended up looking like crap (note from Souken: I actually bought a hakama pattern, so it should be better next time.)
How it turned out
The costume turned out fairly well. So well I may use it again for SakuraCon 2004. On Halloween, we walked around the mall and I was confused for a girl (note from Souken: when I first saw Kenshin, I thought he was a girl.) Going around in a big group was awesome. We surprised our local anime supplier by showing up at his store. Also, Souken and I were going out at the time, so we had a good picture of Kenshin kissing Soujirou, but unfortunatly we lost it. Oh well. It was all tons of fun.
