Why?
(Niko-chan) I wanted to do Shampoo cause I really liked her character. Also, the costume looked really cool.

How it was made
(Souken) The pattern I had for the pants was actually a pattern for an Aladdin costume. The pants were the easiest part of the whole costume, and took me about a half an hour. The shirt, on the other hand, gave me lots of trouble. The pattern for the shirt was one I bought at the thrift store, and is probably not even sold anymore. It worked out okay, except I used the wrong size and it came out too small. The red part of the shirt is a seperated piece, and for that I cut out a section of the shirt pattern and made it a bit bigger. I placed interfacing on the inside to keep it stiff and I used fabric paint for the gold designs. The black sash was just made out of leftover fabric I had. As for the gold clasp on the collar, I found that at Wal-mart.

How it turned out
(Souken) Other than the shirt being too tight and the pants being a bit too short, I think it turned out pretty well. We had tried to dye Niko-chan's hair blue, but it became too much trouble, so we just left it. We ended up fixing her hair on the ferry to Seattle. We improvised by braiding small sections of her hair and pinning them into buns on each side of her head, and tying ribbons around them. Then we took two sections in the front and tied ribbons on them. First they were bows, but Niko-chan thought it looked stupid. What does she know?
