Seta Soujirou
Rurouni Kenshin
Cosplayed by: Souken
Made by: Souken
Worn at: Halloween 2002
Cost: $30
Time: 10 hours
Patterns, guides, etc. Butterick #6698
Why?
Seta Soujirou is my favorite anime character of all time! He's just so awesome. You just gotta love the cute assassin types.
How it was made
This was the first costume I had ever made. For the kimono, I used Butterick #6698. I used the men's kimono, but I had to alter the sleeves, by flaring them out at the ends. For the hakama, I made the pattern using this webpage as a guide. I made the wrist guards by cutting out pieces of foam and covering them with fabric, and then adding laces.
How it turned out
I think I did pretty good for my first costume, though it could have been better. Unfortunatly, I never got any pictures of it. I'm planning on making this costume again for SakuraCon 2004. This time, I'm going to use thicker fabric. Also, I bought an actual hakama/kimono pattern, so hopefully it will turn out much better this time.
