Disclaimer: I don't own Digimon, it is a product of Toei Animation. There. I said it. Now get outta here.
Jeri looked over to where Takato and Henry were. She looked at him sweetly.
Come on, Jeri. You can do this. Just ask him what he's doing tonight.
She walked twoard them. Takato got a sinking feeling in his stomach.
Here she comes. She gets more beautiful every time I see her...
Jeri spoke first when she arrived. "Hey Takato, what's up?" she said. He's so cute...
"Oh, not much." he said. If only I could ask her out...
Jeri looked around nervously. "Soooo... what are you doing tonight?"
"Oh, not much. I was hoping to go to the ballgame tonight... are you going?"
"Well, maybe if someone asks me if I want to go." she replied shyly. Oh please ask me to go with you...
"Well, then you wanna, maybe, go together?" Takato asked feeling just as shy. Oh please say yes...
She smiled a smile that would make the clouds dissappear forever. "I'd love to." Takato smiled ear to ear at those words. "Great. I'll stop by your house at 7:00, kay?"
"Sure." she said. "Bye." her heart felt like it was flying when she left. She felt like doing a bunch of cartwheels she felt so happy.
Takato was still looking at Jeri when she walked away.
"Hello? Takato? Earth to Takato? Hello?" Henry was saying. Takato sat down with a sigh.
"She's so beautiful..." he said dreamily.
"Hey, goggle guy!" Henry said. "In case you haven't noticed, you just played a downgrade card."
"Oh, um, Palmon?"
"Maybe you should go as yourself, Jeri."
"Are you kidding? It's Takato! I can't just go as my plain old boring self!"
Leomon got up. "But Jeri, Takato will accept you just the way you are. There's no need to worry."
Jeri sighed and sat down next to her partner. "You think so?"
"I know so." he said. The doorbell rang. "That must be him now." Jeri ran to the door.
"Hi, Takato." she said.
"Hi, Jeri. Ready to go?" he said, just as nice as ever. She's just so incredibly beautiful...
"Yeah." Takato and Jeri started to walk side by side as they left.
"Sure was!" Jeri said.
"But wasn't it funny when the other guy tripped over his own feet?" he said. Jeri lauged at that. They stood by each other on the porch.
"I had a nice time, Takato." Jeri said.
Takato smiled sweetly. "Me too." They looked each other in the eyes. Takato felt his heart melting. Jeri felt like hers was turning into butterflys.
"...Takato?"
"Yes... Jeri?"
"I think I... I think I... love you..." she said.
Takato felt like he was flying higher than any mountain when he heard those words. "I... love you too... Jeri."
They came closer... closer... Jeri felt like the happiest girl alive. Takato felt happier than he had ever.
Takato and Jeri kissed for the first time ever. They held that kiss for a long time. When they let go, they looked at each other kindly and loving.
"You free tomorrow? If so, you wanna go out on a date?" Takato asked.
Jeri looked at him and said, "Of course." Jeri turned and opened the door slighly. She turned back to Takato. "Good night, Takato. I love you."
"Good night, Jeri. I love you too."
Jeri went in and on up to her room. She grabbed her diary and began frantically writing down the events of the night. She closed it and then looked out to the stars. "It must be true love..."
