Jeri's Secret Admirer

Chapter 5

By: Juri25

Jeri ran home with tears streaming down her cheeks. 'I can't believed Takato did that to me,' she thought furiously wiping her tears away. When she reached her house she quickly ran upstairs to her room. Mrs. Katou saw her step-daughter and soon was worried.

"Masahiko, could you see if Jeri's all right? I would go myself, but I'm gutting the fish for dinner right now."

"Sure. C'mon Calumon." Mashiko got up from his chair with Calumon riding on his head. He went upstairs to Jeri's room. As he neared the door, he heard crying. "Jeri? Are you okay?" Masahiko lightly pushed open the door to see his half older sister crying.

Jeri was sitting on her bed, hugging one of her pillows, sobbing. Masahiko walked over to her and sat on the bed with his sister. 'What happened to her? Jeri is usually so happy and cheerful.' Masahiko thought as he looked at his sister.

He looked around the room. 'I wonder where it is.' He kept looking until he found what he wanted. Masahiko found what he was looking for on Jeri's desk and walked over to get it.

Jeri kept crying, it seemed like her tears would never stop falling. Calumon watched Jeri. He didn't like seeing Jeri so sad, it reminded him of the time they were in the D-Reaper kernal sphere and no one would want to remember that. Suddenly a orange yellow sock puppet was thrust in front of Jeri's face.

"Ahhh!" Jeri was startled. She saw who was contoling her puppet. "Masahiko?"

In his best puppet voice that Masahiko could make he said, "Don't be sad Jeri, whatever happened you'll always have your little brother and Calumon here for you."

"Yeah, be happy!" Calumon yelled smiling.

"Mashiko...Calumon..." She looked at the two of them and smiled. She wiped away her tears. "Thanks you guys." Jeri hugged her brother and then she hugged Calumon.

Mrs. Katou neared Jeri's room and opened the door slightly to see her children smiling. 'Looks like Masahiko took care of everything.' She smiled at the sight of them. The phone rang. Mrs. Katou walked to the phone in the hallway to answer it.

"Hello, Katou residence. May I help you? Oh yes Jeri is home, hold on a minute will you?" She walked into Jeri's room. "Jeri, Takato's on the phone for you."

The smile from Jeri's face disappeared. "Tell him I don't feel well." She looked downwards at the floor. Masahiko realized Takato had something to do with Jeri being sad and was soon angry.

"Oh, okay dear." Mrs. Katou walked back to the phone, but Masahiko beat her to it.

Masahiko picked up the phone and yelled into it, "Whatever you did to my sister you will pay. So don't call here goggle head!" He slammed the phone on the reciver.

"Masahiko! That kind of behavoir isn't allowed in this household. Only your father is supposed act grumppy." Mrs. Katou admonished her son. He only smiled at her.

Takato hung up the phone. He sighed and turned to the nearest wall and banged his head on it. "Ow!" Takato stepped back and rubbed his forehead.

"Takato, is something wrong dear?" his mother asked as she made some bread.

"No, everything is just peachy," Takato said in a sarcastic way. "I'm going to go to bed now." He headed to his room.

His parents watched their boy walk upstairs slouching. "What's wrong with Takato?" Mr. Matsuki asked his wife.

"I'm not sure."

The next day Takato tried to talk to Jeri, but her friends wouldn't let him get 10 feet near her.

"Listen Takato, just go away! Jeri doesn't want to see you and neither do we!" Mikki yelled in his face.

"Yeah that's right!" Nikki agreed with her. The two stompped off leading Jeri away from him.

Takato walked sadly to his locker where Kazu and Kenta were.

"Hey guys." Takato said rather depressed.

"I'm sorry Takato." Kazu said.

"Me too, I'm sorry." Kenta said also.

"It's okay you guys, you were only trying to help. I only have myself to blame for this."

Henry walked over to the guys. "Hey what's wrong with the girls? I just said 'Hi!' to Jeri and Mikki told me to get lost."

Kazu and Kenta told him the whole story about what happened.

"Oh. Man, I'm sorry Takato." Henry said to his friend.

"Thanks. C'mon we better get to class." Takato walked with a slumped back to class. Kazu, Kenta, and Henry followed after him.

The day went on and the girls separted from the boys; they sat somewhere else far away from the boys as possible at break and lunch.

After school Takato and Henry were walking together talking.

"So you still going to go to the school dance tonight?" Henry asked.

"No."

"Oh." The two kept walking.

"You going to the dance?" Takato asked his friend.

"Yeah."

"With who?"

"With Alice."

"Alice McCoy?"

"Yup."

"Wow, I never pictured you two together. Well have fun at the dance for me Henry."

"Thanks Takato. I hope things work out for you all right."

"Yeah, me too." The two boys arrived at the bakery and they parted.

Takato went in. His father looked up from the cash register. "Takato, is there something wrong?" He asked his son.

"Dad, what do you do if a girl is mad at you?" Takato sat down at the table.

"Girl trouble eh? Well whenever your mother was angry at me I got her some flowers, baked some of my special cream puffs, and said I was sorry to her."

"But what if no one will let you near the girl you want to apologize to?"

"Uh, try to get her alone." Mr. Matsuki thought and then realized something. "Is Jeri the girl?" he asked.

"What?! Uh, n-no!" Takato stammered and started to turn red.

His father laughed at him. "Okay, it is Jeri." Takato finally admitted.

"Jeri are you going to the school dance tonight?" Jeri's father asked.

"No."

"Oh why not darling?" Her mother asked.

"I don't feel well, plus I don't have a date."

"Well would you like to come to dinner with your mom, Masahiko and me?" Her father asked.

"No thanks dad. I think I'll just stay home tonight." She replied.

"Are you sure Jeri?" Masahiko asked his sister. Jeri nodded.

"Calumon will keep me company, right Calumon?" Jeri asked the little digimon she was holding.

"Yup!" Calumon jumped out of her arms and onto the floor. "I'll take good care of her."

"Okay then. There is leftovers of the fish from last night's dinner and some cookies on the shelf if you get hungry. And if you need anything just call your father's cell." Her mom said.

"Okay. Have fun tonight." Jeri smiled and hugged her family goodbye. They all left for dinner, leaving Jeri and Calumon alone.

"Most of my friends are at the dance right now." Jeri said to Calumon. She added in her mind, 'So Takato would be at the dance too.'

"How 'bout we go visit Guilmon in the park? What do you say about that Calumon?'

"Yeah!" Calumon cheered. Jeri smiled at him. Calumon always seemed to put a smile on he face. The two left the house, locking the door, and headed for the park.
