Chapter 4

Various sizes of rocks cascaded down from the ground level of the city. A gigantic hole opened up to reveal its hidden refugees. The five armored ones stood protectively in front of the two young girls and a laughing maniac stood above them. The large tiger growled and bared his teeth at the intruder. The dark figure's gaze fell upon the girls as he readied his kusari-gama. His green eyes lock with the silver haired girl's greenish silver ones. She almost seems pleased to see him, but he disregards it. Gleaming moonbeams shone in through the hole; the moon uncovered by the luminous clouds. The beams reflected off the figure's armor, giving him a silver tone to his armor and weapon. He hurled his chain towards the people below but purposely misses them. It collided into a wall and connected with a large slab of stone. The sound of chains pulling echoed through the underground subway as the chain becomes free, pulling the slab with it. He changed his flow, directing it to fly towards the two girls. The silver haired one didn't leave her eyes from the figures, and she did not notice the stone speeding towards her.

Her companion did see it and lunged for her friend. "Rain! Get down!"

The blonde one violently pushed Rain to the ground as Rain's eyes return to normal, fear penetrating the silver jade depths. Crackling and bending come to their ears as shattered rock explodes everywhere.

Ryo stepped forward through the falling debris. "Hey! Why pick on them when you can have a real battle?!"

The dark figure only laughed and pulled back his kusari-gama.

Cye's British voice rang loud and clear. "Form the circle!"

Amariie raised an eyebrow. "Yeah that'll really help the situation."

Rain only smirked as she watched the Ronins begin to run in, surprisingly, a circle around the two. Concentration was written on their faces as their armors separated themselves from the bearers and formed a pentagram around the girls.

The Ronins wasted no time and leap up to the patient warrior before them.

Rowen stayed behind and looked at the two girls. "You two stay here. The circle will use our armor powers to protect you," he said with a serious expression and then went to join his companions.

Amariie, being driven by some impulse, jumped forward and grabbed his arm. He turned back to look at her. She smiled. "Be careful."

He blushed and smiled back. "Don't worry, I will." he ran to join the others while she stood silently, heart racing.

The dark figure stood patiently on top as the Ronin Warriors leapt to form a circle around him. He only smirked at their braveness and stupidity of challenging him.

Early morning fog rolled into the streets, making the area seem all the more desolate and empty except for the six warriors.

Ryo stepped forward. "You're Anubis, aren't you?"

Anubis raised his head higher. "You are very observant. Once i destroy you, I will dissolve that pathetic circle of yours and take care of your little friends," he ended pointing towards the deep hole where Amariie and Rain waited.

Rowen's anger flared up drastically as he clenched his fists so tightly that they turned white beneath his subarmor. "If you touch either of them then I will personally see to it that you will die very painfully."

Anubis' grin only widened. "You are either very blunt or very cocky. There is a fine line between blunt and cocky and you're dancing with it. Yet you are confident nonetheless."

The five of them attacked the smiling demon that stood before them. Anubis didn't even try to fight them. He only stood there as the Ronins put their entire strength into their hits and kicks, yet they never hurt him. Anubis swiftly brought up his right hand to be collided with Sage's face, making him fly a few feet behind. His smashed his leg into Kento's stomach, resulting in the same fate as Sage. This process continued until Ryo was knocked against a wall; his two friends trying to save him.

'We're getting beat. We can't hold up too much longer.'

From beneath the street, Amariie and Rain could only watch in horror as their new friends were getting brutally whipped by Anubis.

Rain growled fiercely. "We have to help them! They're not gonna make it through this!"

Amariie tried to keep her composure. "We can't, Rain. We'll get in the way like last time. Besides, their armors are shielding us."

Rain's eyes softened then quickly turned into surprise. "The armors! We have to tell them to take away the circle so they can fight!"

Amariie nodded with agreement and cupped her hands around her mouth. "HEY! PUT ON YOUR ARMORS!"

Yet Amariie was drowned out by Anubis. "Quake With..." he began as a whisper. A purely corrupted smile laid across his face. "FEAR!"

The Ronins only stood in surprise as Anubis heavily threw his kusari-gama deep into the cemented street. A soft laugh came within his throat. The Warlord of Cruelty knew they were done for as he watched their confused but determined faces.

Ryo shouted out, "Get ready for anything!"

Just as Ryo ended his yell, the ground beneath the Ronin Warriors' feet began to shake violently. Rain and Amariie tried to keep from falling over from the unstableness beneath the streets. Suddenly, beams of red light shot out of the ground and into the skies. Each Ronins dodged them easily, but their eyes held fear as they saw the beams turn into chains before their eyes. Each chain attached itself to the side of random buildings and soon enough, each Ronin was held captive within the chains. They tightened themselves around the young warriors' bodies and even thought they wore subarmor, they could feel the pain of the bite of the rusted metal.

Amariie saw what was happening and screamed at the top of her lungs, "PUT ON YOUR ARMOR YOU DUMBASSES!"

Ryo painfully turned his head towards the girls, but a chain cutting of air supply held it in place. "I...d-don't think I...can do it..."

A growl came from beneath Rain's throat. As much as she knew she couldn't help the situation, she still held a sliver of hope. Her fists tightened till they turned a dark red and all her muscles tensed tightly against her bones. Seeing her new friends hanging like rag dolls and a laughing lunatic below them made all hope and faith become revived. Taking a deep breath, she stepped forward towards the end of he circle with Amariie stared at her. Just before Rain's foot hit the ground, a large golden staff whistled through the air and embedded itself in the ground where Rain was going to place her right foot. Amariie's eyes dashed around, searching for the source of the strange staff. Her eyes landed on a figure ontop of a building, but the dust that hung in the subway air blocked Amariie's view. The staff had a helm with wings and chimes that glistened in the city streetlights. The rings clanged back and forth and became so unbearable that Amariie and Rain had to cover their ears. After the ringing ceased, the girls slowly uncovered their ears and opened their eyes. The dust settled upon the subway floor and they realized that the golden staff was gone along with the armor circle. Amariie gasped as she saw the hanging Ronins begin to glow their armor colors, momentarily forgetting the mysterious figure watching her and Rain.

Sage's eyes widened. "T-the circle has been broken! But how?"

Ryo figured Amariie and Rain would be alright. "That doesn't matter now! Armor up!"

In a midst of cherry blossoms and flowered toilet paper, the Ronin Warriors broke free of Anubis' chains and within moments, Anubis was faced with five armored and very pissed warriors. His eyes flashed fear of being defeated, but it is quickly covered up by his usual cockyness. Ryo stood before Anubis, poised with his katanas. Anubis gives him a small smile as he also readies his weapon.

In a flash, the two warriors lunge at each other; both get their share of hits. Anubis' strength out weighed Ryo's, but Ryo's determination was no match for Anubis'. After what seemed like ages of the two warriors battling, Anubis caught Ryo off guard and fired his sure kill towards the unsuspecting Ryo. He turned his head in time to see the warlord's chain make a beeline to his head. Ryo dodged it quickly, but it turns in the air and changes directions, colliding with Ryo's chest. His ice blue eyes show surprise as it hits him dead on. The chains turned red as Ryo stood powerless to the strength of the chains. They separated into several others and wrapped themselves around Ryo's battle-worn body. The warrior of Wildfire felt like he was being burned from the inside out and a scream escaped his dry throat. With the little strength he has left in his soul, Ryo positioned his swords and jumped in the air, still with Anubis' chains around him.

Channeling his attack, Ryo sent his Flare Up Now back into Anubis' Quake With Fear. Anubis' eyes revealed true fear as the white energy crashed into him. A huge white light engulfed Anubis as Ryo flipped over him, landed harshly on the ground, the chains slowly fading from his body. Kento and Cye jump to the sides of their leader.

A small flap of cloth fell from Anubis' armor and he took a deep breath, yet he was still standing. "You will pay for striking that blow against me, boy."

Kento looked at Ryo with concern. "Ryo, buddy, are you alright?"

Ryo only breathed in deeply as his piercing eyes still faced the Dark Warlord. Pain suddenly wracked through his body and Ryo collapsed onto the hard, unwelcoming ground. Halo and Strata appeared behind the recovered Anubis.

Sage narrowed his eyes at his new enemy. "We will take revenge for what you have done here."

Rain and Amariie both climbed to the surface only to be greeted by a huge rush of wind coming from nowhere, but everywhere. They held onto each other and Rain hauls Amariie onto the street. Their long hair swept in the gush of air coming from all directions at once. Amariie held onto a streetlight as Rain held onto her waist.

Amariie's eyes were closed tightly as she tried to hang on for dear life. "I already blow dried my hair this morning dammit!"

Rain opened her eyes slightly then snapped them open when she saw a large tornado coming straight towards the Ronins. She tried to yell for them to get out of the way, but her scream is drowned out by the wind and flying debris. The Ronins saw the wind tunnel too late and could not escape its engulfing terror. It snatched them up quickly and the girls could almost hear their screams above the winds. As soon as the screams came, then left. From the tornado, Amariie could barely make out five streaks of light speed across the land. Once they ceased, the winds died down and Amariie and Rain relaxed against the streetlight. The city was more desolate than before.

Amariie jogged a few feet and her bright blue eyes darted over the landscape. It was almost midnight and the stars shined more brightly than before; almost as if something had just been restored to it. She seemed drawn to the royal blue endlessness. She swore that she saw a shooting star that glowed an dull blue streak across the sky. Her thoughts were disrupted by Rain calling out to the Ronins.

"HEY! RONINS! WHERE ARE YOU! GET YOUR ASSES OUT HERE BEFORE I'M FORCED TO COME LOOKIN FOR YA!"

Only echoes of her own voice were her reply. Amariie lowered her head and realized that they were alone.
