Extras, Cameos, Gimmicks...stuff that's worth mentioning, basically.

Card Pocket Gals!:

My copy of the Detana Twinbee Yahho! Deluxe Pack for the Saturn came free with this...thing. Twinbee has never been the most overtly macho of series, it's true, but this is ridiculous:

It's a kind of rubbery thing...I think you're supposed to remove the hearts, though quite what for I have no idea. It's obviously meant for young girls. The strange thing is that this has nothing whatsoever to do with Twinbee - at least not that I can see. Here's the plastic sheath it came in:

Was this included by accident, or is it really an integral part of the Deluxe Pack? Personally, I'm hoping it was all a horrible mistake.

Stickers:

Twinbee RPG comes with a load of Twinbee stickers. Nothing wrong with that...they're far less disturbing than the Card Pocket thing anyway. Click on the thumbnail to see them at full size:

Snatcher:

Thank you very much to Andrew Leta for all these pictures and information about the Konami game Snatcher (for the Sega CD & assorted platforms):

"Konami must like putting cameos into their games, because in the game, Snatcher, one of the billboards in the Alton Plaza has a little pic of Twinbee waving on it. And it says Bee Land above him. Pretty cool huh? Pastel and Light make appearances too. On Metal Gear's (Metal Gear is the main character's assistant) video phone, when you dial a wrong number a pic of Pastel waving her hand comes up with the words "Out of service" above her. And the final appearance of Twinbee characters is in a nudie bar(Outer Heaven, to be exact). Light and Pastel sit down to have a drink while Isabella does her dance."

Snatcher is one of those games everyone talks about but which I've yet to play. Now I've got an extra incentive to track down a copy.

Twinbee vs Raichu:

Andrew Leta made me aware of this as well, hosted at the site www.newgrounds.com. It's a very short, but rather polished Shockwave game in which our hero takes on hordes of Pikachus. Nice backing music as well. Here's a direct link to the game profile page. The author is Vic Viper.

Mr. Masato Ohsawa:

M.Ohsawa was the producer of Detana Twinbee. During the game credits, the following dedication is made, which it seems only polite to reproduce here:

Twinbee Pierrot:

Like any self-respecting Role Playing Game made since Final Fantasy 7, Twinbee RPG has a theme park where you can play various subgames. This includes an Arcade Machine called 'Twinbee Pierrot' which is a Galaga clone made using graphics taken from Twinbee Yahho!. The music comes from Detana Twinbee. It looks and sounds nice, has lots of powerups and is very difficult. I can obtain pictures, but it'll take me a while to retrace my footsteps through several hours of gameplay using a PSX emulator, so you'll have to wait. If you're about to rush out and buy the game though, be warned that Twinbee Pierrot isn't that great - it really is little more than a gimmick. Good to play occasionally though.

Bishi Bashi Special!

Thanks to Niall Somerville for sending in this:

"In case you're interested Twinbee makes a cameo in Bishi Bashi Special. In the Hyper Bishi Bashi Section, in a mini-game called puck attack he's sometimes a puck. What looks suspiciously like the clouds appear on the Stop the Clock Mini-game. On a less twinbee related note, Fantastic Journey's Koitsu appears in Super Bishi Bashi's Was that a UFO game and in Hyper the lead characters (Of sorts) Look like one of the characters in one of your Konami World 2 pictures.

He's quite right. Here's a picture of the Puck Attack game.

Play as Twinbee in Gradius MSX

According to Niall, it's also possible to play as Twinbee in the MSX version of Gradius. Apparently you do this by inserting the original Twinbee cartridge into the second cart slot of your MSX.

Cinnamon's Evil Brother

Whenever you die in Konami World 1, Cinnamon's evil brother resurrects you. Take a look at him...could he be...Warumon? That really would complicate things.

Twinbee's Age

According to the character select screen of the Gameboy Parodius, Twinbee is 17 years old! How does that compare to his peers? Well, Pentaro is only 9, and Vic Viper is an incredible 58!! Now, if only we knew their blood groups...
