Prolouge: The Silver Milliennium
Long ago, there was a galaxy that lived in peace together under the rule of two kingdoms and a royal planet. There were many strange magics, tales, and creatures that originated from this time, the time of The Silver Millennium. The people of the galaxy lived peacefully under this rule, until, the people from a planet named Earth, rebelled against the two kingdoms. To put an end to this, the three queens of the kingdoms and planet had to use all their power to end the rebellion. This threw the galaxy into chaos and as a result, the galaxy was separated into different dimensions, never to be met again. Only problem was, one particular planet got mixed up into four different dimensions. The first kingdom, called the Moon Kingdom, was sent to one dimension, the planet, Jurai, was sent to another, the second kingdom, the Star Kingdom and two-hundred or so of the types of creatures, later named Pokemon were sent to a third, and the rest of the creatures were sent to a fourth, were they were discovered by a ancient people, abused, banned, then thousands of years later reborn as a card game called Duel Monsters.
Okay, now, unless youre really dense and just came and read this because the site looked pretty and been living in a cave for five years, you probably recognized at least one of the above mentioned terms. But if you only understand one, it wont spark your interest. If you understand two, youre interested, if you understand most of them, youre confused, if you understand all of them, this is probably what you are thinking right now: 'What are these people smoking?' But I can assure you, we are all professionals here.
Now, Im sure you know the story of the Silver Millennium told in Sailor Moon, but lets recap. Long ago the Moon was populated by a royal family who ruled our solar system in peace. One day the Moon Princess (Serenity/Sailor Moon) fell in love with a prince from Earth (Endymion/Tuxedo Kamen), and in a jealous rage a princess from Earth (Queen Beryl) led the people of Earth into rebellion. The Prince tried to stop them but to no avail the Earth Princess charged at the Moon Princess and killed the Prince instead. In her sorrow, the Moon Princess kills herself. In anger and sadness of her daughters death, the Moon Queen summoned the power of the most holy jewel (Silver Imperium Crystal) ending the rebellion, but also in the process killing herself, and destroying the Silver Millennium.
Jurai, now, doesnt that sound familiar? 'I am Aeka, the First Princess of the planet Jurai!' does that ring up a bell? Jurai, Aeka; Aeka, Tenchi Muyo! Okay, we all know that Aeka is the first princess blah, blah dee blah, and she spent 700 years in suspended animation looking for her half-brother/fiancee, Yosho. But I bet you didnt know this, Yosho was only Aekas half-brother in this life, he was her fiancee in their previous life, that took place during the Silver Millennium. They loved each other very much and one day just before the Great Rebellion, Yosho left to hunt down the Infamous Demon of the Silver Millennium (Ryoko) and supposedly was killed. In her sorrow, Aeka committed suicide.
Pokemon, the term you all should have at least heard at one time or another, were believed to come from outer space, well, judging by the first paragraph, I'd say those theories are close to right! But, theres one thing you didnt know about this dimension, and thats where the Star Kingdom comes in. In the Silver Millennium, there were several princesses, two are important to this, also a priestess, a monk, a demon, and a prince. One Princess was the Head princess of the Star Kingdom, the other was her right hand maid. Then there were her personal priestess and monk who protected her, there was her love, the Prince, and a demon (not Ryoko) who corrupted them. In a time, between Aeka and Yoshos death and Serenity and Endymions death, the demon corrupted the prince to the point of treason, and not only was the prince executed, but the priestess and monk found the demon out and subdued him. After much coaxing, the princess still could not calm the head princess, and, I'll give you three guesses what she does next and the first two dont count (read above for a hint), she commits suicide. Now, the first four, are for sure to have been relocated to the same place, where the Pokemon were located to, but the location of the prince and the demon, remains a mystery.
We all knew we had to get to this point some time or another, what is Dual Monsters. Well, your first hint is that its fairly new (year or two), it comes from Yu-Gi-Oh! (har har). Again ancient story told in anime. 'Long ago, when the pyramids were still young, the Egyptian Pharaohs played a game of great and terrible power' (one of the authors watches this show too much... [Nepu-chan: Kaiba's hot!]) Basically, Egyptians play evil magic game, a powerful king (Yami-Yugi) dukes it out with an evil sorcerer, and traps it away deep in tombs. Years later a heart-broken millionaire (Maximillian Pegasus) stumbles into the dark alleys of Egypt, given this 'Golden eye' becomes evil, creates card game based upon ancient evil game. The End.
