Some Words that you Might Hear but not Understand when you go to a Sailor Moon sights
There are a ton of Sailor moon words that you might not no of, but these are the only ones that I can think of now. If you know of one Japanese word that you want to know the meaning of, then email me (sailorbluefluff@sailormoon.com) and I will try to find out what it is. | Senshi: means- solider. Usually herd when talking about the sailor soldiers. People will call the sailors "Sailor Senshi." Also herd when sailor moon gives her speech: "The pretty sailor senshi, Sailor moon.." In the subtitles, It says soldier, but some people still say 'senshi.' When DIC dubbed Sailor Moon into english, it often used the word scout instead of soldier. |
| Manga: means- comic or comic book. Rei owns a lot of manga and Usagi is often over at Rei's house reading it and laughing. |
| -Chan, -Sama, -San, & -Kun: These are what you put at the end of someone's name. For instance if I were to say something to Ami, I wouldn't just call her Ami. I would call her Ami-chan. For a queen, or another important person that I look up to, I would end their name with -sama. |
| Anime: There isn't really an English word that means the same thing as anime. Anime is Japanese cartoons. |
| Animates: You are never told exactly what it is, but I think that it is a group that sailor lead crow and aluminum Siren come from. They were rivals there competing for the top position until their star seeds were stolen and they had to go work for galaxia |
| Sera myu: It is sort of like a slang / the abbreviation for Sailor Moon Musical. This is what the sailor moon plays (musicals) that were done in Japan were called. They did plays for Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon S, Sailor Moon SuperS, and Sailor Moon Stars. The only one that they didn't do it for was Sailor Moon R. |
| Chibi: means- small. In the Sailor Moon Stars series, Usagi gets a new sister. Her name is Chibi Chibi, so in English, that would translate to small small. Also Usagi's future daughter's nickname is Chibiusa because her real name is Usagi so they added Chibi and kept the first half of Usagi to make the name Chibiusa. ---chibi shouldn't be capitalized, I just capitalized it because I was talking about people's names--- |
