Make Your Own Edited Multiplayer Map In this tutorial I will teach you how to make your own edited multiplayer map with the Rogue Spear Editor.
Step #1 Opening the RSEditor
-The first thing that you have to do is open the Rogue Spear Editor, it comes with the game so you have it if you have Rogue Spear. The Rogue Spear Editor is located in the main Rogue Spear file, C:\program files\Redstorm Entertainment\Rogue Spear. There should be a program named RSEditor, double click on it and open it, this can sometimes take a little while to load up.
Step #2 Getting to it -Now we are going to make a modified bunkers map that we can play in multiplayer games. I chose bunkers because it is open and it is a simple small map. First go to file, open map, than open up the file named Bunkers, and open the file in the folder named Bunkers.
-After it is done loading go to file, new mission
-Now name your Mission. I named this map My New Bunks, than click ok
-Now you should see a screen in front of you called General Properties, go down to the botton left hand corner and check the box in front of Is Adversaial mission, this will make it a multiplayer mission.
-Now click the Rendering tab and make sure that the box in front of Skybox On is unchecked, if it is not un-checked than it may crash the game during the loading. You also have the option of adding fog to the map, this may cause lag in slower computers, so go ahead and put it if you want to. Than hit the ok button
-You will now see a black screen in front of you, I think that this only hapens on bunkers, but i am not sure. The reason that it is black is because you are underground. Look at the upper right hand corner. There should be some tabs with some arrow buttons that look like this < >. Click the right arrow button untill you see the tab called Room, click on it.
-Now look in the rooms section and select #1, it is the first on the list, and click on it.
-When you click on the 1 the background should turn from black to a purple color with lines on it, I am color blind to a few colors so if it isn't purple, well than oops.
Step #3 Mooving Through The Map -Now you are going to learn how to moove arround the map. We'll start in 3D mode.
-Find the 3D button above the viewing window and click on it
-You should now see an overhead view of the map
-Now you have to learn how to moove around the map. First take your mouse pointer in the center of the screen and hold down the right mouse button and moove it arround a little
-To moove forward press the W on your keyboard. It is a lot like playing Rogue Spear and running through a map, play around untill you get the hang of it
-Now hit the 3D button again and you are back to the 2D (i think it is 2D) part of the map. To moove in 2D just simply press W to go forward, D to go right, S to go backwards, A to go left, R to rotate the map counter clockwise, and Q to rotate the map Clockwise. Mess around with that untill you get the hang of it. It is faster to moove in 2d mode from one side of the map to the other on large maps
Step #4 Spawn/Start Locations
In a multiplayer game you have to have atleast 16 spawn points and atleast 1 base pair.
-The first thing u can do is make the spawn points, this is where people would popup when playing "Survival".
-On the right side find the tab called multi plr, and click on it.
-Than hit the Edit Spawn Points button
-Now right click on the map so you can moove around and start mooving around the map and placing spawn points. Just left click to make a spawn point, it should show up as a X. Make atleast 16 of them. Also don't make the spawn points right next to eachother. I hate it when the game starts and before I eaven have time to look to my side, than I get shot.
-After you make atleast 16 spawn points you have to make atleast 1 base pair. Go to the bar on your right and click on the Edit Base Pairs button.
-Hit new and base0 should pop up in the little box under the new button
-Now hit the Base Description button. Put something like Blue and Gold Outside, or something that would indicate that this base pair is where you are going to put it. Mine is outside
-Make sure that the Blue buttion on the bottom is pressed down, than right click on the map and moove around to a spot in the map where you want to place the blue start location, switch the map to 3D if you need more of a look but make sure that it is 2D mode when u place a base pair on the map. To place that blue start up point hold down the left mouse button and drag it untill you have about a 1 inch square area, you can make it bigger if u want.
-Than go over the right bar and hit Side Description, I named it Blue Side, and than hit ok
-Now hit the gold button and do the same thing as you did for blue, only in a diferent place.
-You can make more than 1 base pair, just falow the same steps but i just wanted to make 1 pair.
Step #5 Save
-Now would be a good time to save. Go to File, save as, and name your map somethign like newbunks_MUL.miss . Don't have any capitials for the name and you have to add _MUL.miss after the name so that it will work in multiplayer, than hit save. EX- mybunks_MUL.miss
Step #6 Placing Objects
-Here comes a hard part now, learning how to place objects and rotate them and lift them up.
-The first thing that you do is go to the tab on your right and select the MIssion Objects tab. I want to add a large concrete barrier so i am going to hit the New button and than you must give it a name, it works better with a name. Now hit the brouse button, there should be a list of all the objects that you can select to put into the map. Find the one called mod_concrete_barrier_tall.mso and select it. Now make sure you are in 3D mode and double click somewhere where you want the object to be, and now you should see it infront of you.
-Now you are going to learn how to moove your objects. THe first thing that we are going to do is rotate the object 90 degrees. First hit the button to the left of the 3d button with an S on it, and the Y button, anbd the button with the arrowoop on it, and click and drag in the direction that you want the object to turn. It should now turn arround untill u get it where u want it.
IF you don't want the object to go 90 degrees and you only want it to go only a few degreed don't hit the S button.
The next thing you may want to do is moove the object into place where you want it to stay, the first thing you do is hit the + button and the XZ button. This allows you to moove the object both on the Z and X axis. Moove the object arround untill you have it where you want it.
-Now lets say that you want to moove an object straight one way or another. You click on the + button same as before but now hit either the Z or X button and moove the object, it only goes one way. I mooved the object back to the board.
I mooved it over with the X button and now i am going to moove it ahead with the Z button.
-Now you are going to moove the object down. What you do is hit the + button and now the Y button and drag it down until it is as far down as you want it.
- Well now i guess you have learned the basics of movement and plaeing of objects, so now go ahead and start placing our objects and mess arorund a little, make something cool.
This map took me about 3 weeks to make, it is fun to play on and a lot of my friends like it.
-Just save after you are done and than go online and test the map out, it should be in the map selection area.
-Only the host needs the map but it loads faster if the people you are playing with have it too.
