Hige yawned widely, the sound disturbing Tsume and Toboe, who were lounging on the dock with him.

“Jeez, what a rat hole. How can anyone live in a place like this?” He wondered out loud.

“Don’t worry Hige. Kiba said we wouldn’t be here long,” Toboe said comfortingly, and Hige sighed.

“Good.” Sure, Kiba was pretty weird, and the way he just knew things was creepy, but Hige was pretty sure he could trust him.

‘Yeah, and your willingness to trust him doesn’t have anything to do with the fact that you want to pounce on him,’ Hige shrugged and snickered. It was true, he did want Kiba, and he wasn’t afraid to admit it. To himself, at least. He wasn’t so willing to try and explain it to Kiba.

'Tsk. No telling what that guy would do.’ Hige shrugged and stood up.

“So, where did our illustrious leader go?” He asked, and Tsume gave a low growl.

“Our what?” He asked darkly, but Toboe interrupted before the two older wolves could get into an argument.

“Come on, Tsume. Hige didn’t mean anything by it,” Toboe said. “Kiba went to the city to see if there’s anything to eat and anywhere to rest for a while. He said he’d be back soon.”

Hige felt the bitter bite of envy. “Well, he just gave you the full report, didn’t he?” He said, somewhat snidely. Toboe reared back, stung.

“Hey, what’s wrong with you?” Toboe asked, looking injured. Tsume stood up beside the little wolf and smirked. “Don’t worry, Toboe. You didn’t do anything wrong. He’s just pissed that his boyfriend’s talking to you rather than him.”

Toboe stuttered and Hige’s eyes flashed. “Well, that explains your deal with Kiba. He’s your competition!” With that, Hige jumped down off the crate and gave a backwards wave, inwardly chuckling at the expression on Tsume’s face as Toboe turned to him and asked, “What’s he mean by that, Tsume?”

Humming to himself, Hige pushed his hands in his pockets and started walking to the city core.

‘No fair of Kiba to leave us and go wandering off on his own. What if I wanted to go with him?’ Hige thought irritable as he looked around. ‘This really is a pretty crummy city.’ The people here were quick to shy away, averting their eyes and edging away, sometimes turning around and running. ‘Humph. At least the natives are friendly,’ Hige thought sarcastically, smirking. Raising his arms, he rest his hands behind his head.

‘Now. If I were a Kiba, alone in a big, crappy city, where would I go?’ Suddenly, he heard the sounds of a scuffle. Growls, whimpers and snapping jaws, somewhere in the distance ahead.

“Of course,” Hige muttered, answering his own question as he started to run, “I’d go straight to where I could get into trouble.” A silly question, really.

Weaving in and out of the small crowd of humans Hige came to a stop in front of the fight. He heard the story from the humans around him. Two very large dogs had jumped a big white 'dog.' Scoffing, Hige darted forward, intent on jumping in and saving ’his’ Kiba, when a young man jumped in and grabbed the two brown and black dogs by their collars.

“Whose dog is this?!” The man yelled, dragging his dogs off Kiba, and Hige raised his hand and came forward, wrapping his arms around Kiba’s shoulders. Kiba put up as much resistance as he could before realizing just who was holding on to him. “Hige…” The white wolf whispered and fell against Hige’s chest. Warming a bit, Hige picked the wolf up.

“Hey man, I’m sorry,” The owner of the two dogs said, “It don’t look like it was a fair fight. How bad’s he hurt?”

Hige shook his head. “It’s fine, don’t worry about it.” Nodding to him, he turned and walked off, turning a corner to get out of the crowd’s eye. Setting Kiba down, he took off the dark haired man’s jacket.

“Jeez, Kiba, is it even possible for you to stay out of trouble?” Hige complained, pulling Kiba’s shirt off over his head. Tsking at the blood, he wrapped Kiba’s shirt into a ball and started wiping at his wounds.

“Hey, I know it’s not very sanitary,” He began, noticing Kiba’s raised eyebrow, “But it’s all I got. You’ll be fine. And HEY!” Kiba jumped at the sudden change of tone; before it had been sheepish but now it was angry. “How about not disappearing off by yourself anymore, huh? Look what kind of trouble you get into. You could have been killed!”

Kiba stared at him, eyes wide and Hige squirmed under his gaze.

“What?” He exclaimed finally.

“Well, I knew you were coming because you wanted to get to Paradise. I didn’t realize you’d come to care for me, though.”

An uncharacteristic blush came across Hige’s face and he fidgeted for a bit.

“Well...I do,” He said finally. ‘Boy, do I,’ He thought wryly.

A smile worked it’s way onto Kiba’s features, and the expression was so rare that Hige actually drew back, startled.

“I’m glad. Pack members should care for each other,” Kiba continued, and he started licking the scratches on his arms. A hand fell on his and he looked up, startled.

“Kiba,” Hige’s voice was intimate and his voice was warm against Kiba’s face. “Does that mean you care for me?”

The wounded wolf blinked, confused. “Of course. I care for all of you.”

Hige rolled his eyes. “Yeah, but,” He leaned in closer, his lips brushing against Kiba’s. “Do you care for me?”

Kiba seemed to finally realize that there was some added meaning to Hige’s words.

“Hige…what…?”

Hige shook his head. “Just don’t say anything, okay? If you don’t feel the same, don’t say anything. Just let me….” Ducking his head, he started licking Kiba’s chest wounds. Gasping at the unexpected act, the somber eyed man settled down quickly.

Hige licked at the blood in quick, short laps. ‘Jeez man, what the hell are you doing?’ He asked himself, the licks becoming longer, lingering over smooth skin instead of scratches. Moving upwards, he laved at a nipple, first licking and then sucking on the tender nub.

Kiba’s back arched and his hands flew to Hige’s head, fingers curling in his hair.

“Hi...ge...”He gasped and Hige moved up, face to face with him and smirked. Moving in close, so close that they were sharing air, he spoke.

“I’m showing you, Kiba, just how I feel about you,” He whispered and took Kiba’s mouth in a clumsy, oddly gentle, and utterly intoxicating kiss. He opened his mouth and licked at Kiba’s, softly at first but then more insistently.

“Kiba, open your mouth,” He breathed, and Kiba relented, wrapping his arms around Hige’s neck and shoulders and bringing him impossibly close.

Inside Kiba’s mouth in was soft, wet, molten heat and Hige couldn’t get enough.

Kiba’s legs opened and wrapped around Hige’s waist, bringing their hips together intimately. They could feel each others' hardness straining against their jeans, and they moaned, overcome. Hige grabbed Kiba’s thighs and held them tightly as the two men ground against each other, no longer kissing but staring into each other’s eyes in near amazement, mouths agape, chest heaving as they gasped for breath. Suddenly, Kiba moved forward and bit Hige’s neck. The lighter haired man moaned and returned the favor, sinking his fangs deep into Kiba’s neck.

Kiba threw his head back, a howl breaking from his bloodstained lips as his hips moved frantically, then froze. Hige felt warm wetness on his hip and this jumpstarted his own release. He clawed at Kiba’s thighs, his hips pumping once, twice, cock so hard it hurt. He came, groaning, and bowed his head, resting it on Kiba’s chest.

“God...God, Kiba, I-” His apology was interrupted when warm lips pressed against his and a tongue lapped at him, almost shyly.

“Hige...don’t say anything,” Kiba said, a small smile on his lips, and Hige could read it all in his eyes. He rest his head on Kiba’s shoulder and sighed, relieved.

They were silent for a few moments when Kiba spoke up. “I wonder what Tsume and Toboe are up to?” He asked, but all he got was a light snore. Shaking his head, he leaned back against the wall, holding the other man to his chest.

‘A nap here will be fine. After all, if anyone sees us, all they’ll just see two ‘dogs’.' A twitch of lips and he closed his eyes.

Meanwhile…

“Come on, Tsume. Tell me what he meant!” Toboe whined and Tsume groaned.

“Nothing!” Quietly, “Damn that Hige!”

“What?”

“Nothing!”

End!
