Source: k your best choice is to have a dvd-rom and rip the footage, and same for audio, rip that off a cd. Next option is downloading a song ( this will probably be what you do depending on the popularity of the song ) and capturing off of DVD or VHS if you don’t have a dvd-rom, but this method sucks usually cuz 1. Its much harder 2. Quality will not be as good as ripping. If you’re poor then you’re screwed with downloaded footage which has really bad quality at small res ( well most of the time bout 99%, but well what can you do )
Meaning: Every video should tell a story, random scenes + music = bad amv, this is the case with most rock dbz music videos. So be sure to have some point to your video, hint match lyrics with scene.
Editing: Well not much I can help you with here, except be sure to have good timing.
Special Effects: So you wanna become the next George Lucas huh.. Really rather hard to do, be creative and don’t necessarily pack all the fx possible cuz your vid will look like crap, only use them when necessary. The simplest yet coolest fx is the cross fade.
Encoding: What codec to use, I would recommend mpeg or divx 5. Sometin I don’t remember. The Divx when played on the newest divx player on full screen doesn’t loose much quality which is real good. MPEG is good cuz its so popular and offers good quality when compressed.
Distribution: you have three choices
1. Setting up your own server. Advantage = no cost for hosting Disadvantage = Its hard and requires you to leave your computer on 24/7 which will consume the energy needed to power a space craft in a short time, which will eventually cost probably the same or more as paying for a host.
2. Hosting ( first off free hosting is crap since you will rarely find sites that will allow you to upload files larger than 1meg so the hells the point of a hundred free megs huh. Plus if you find a free host that lets you do that, which by the way you have a better chance to split the atom, you’ll have to open up a hundred accounts to host all your videos, unless there 10-20 megs in size which means they look as good as my little bros artwork. )
Advantage: You can host all your vids
Disadvantage: You gotta pay
3. Getting someone to host your vids. K let me start off by saying this is real hard unless a. you have a friend with money and web space b. your video is really good. Try the forums but id stick with paying just to be on the safe side.
