In a forest full of very tall trees, Brad searches for a mysterious Zoid he claims he saw there before. No one else believes him, but he still wants to look for it. When Brad stops to rest, he hears the Zoid running through the forest. He jumps into his Command Wolf quickly and chases after it. The mysterious Zoid turns out to be the Shadowfox. Brad follows it through the trees, but stops at the edge of a huge cliff. The Shadowfox continues however, and jumps gracefully down the cliff to the bottom. Brad attempts to follow in his Command Wolf, but ends up falling down and crashing at the bottom. Then a barrage of missiles are fired at Brad from somewhere, and Brad's Command Wolf is destroyed. Brad himself barely survives, and passes out right after he manages to get away from the fire.
When Brad wakes up, he sees Dr. Layon. Layon thinks that Brad was sent by Toros to spy on the Shadowfox, and when Brad doesn't seem to know about the Fox, Layon explains that the Fox is his greatest creation, a product of everything he knows about Zoids. Layon says that despite the fact that the Fox is a great Zoid, nobody he knows of is able to pilot it and draw out its full potential. Layon then tests Brad's level of endurance, and is surprised to find out that Brad stayed conscious the longest of all the people he's tested. But finally Brad loses conscious, and Layon leaves. When one of Layon's assistants is getting Brad out of the chair, Brad wakes up, attacks the guy, then escapes. Brad manages to get to the Zoid hangar without anyone seeing him, but then he is spotted. Brad runs away, and sees the Shadowfox. He leaps onto the Fox and gets in it. Layon is furious about this, and Brad manages to escape with the Fox.
Brad runs with the Shadowfox through the forest, and Layon sends a troop of Rev Raptors after him. Brad uses the Fox's smoke dispenser to escape from them. Layon next sends Hell Cats equipped with cloaking devices after him, and Brad uses the Fox's multi-sensor to find them and destroy them. Layon is as mad as hell now, but he quickly thinks of a plan. Brad comes to a clearing with a lake, and stops. A Stealth Viper emerges from the lake, and projects a message from Layon. Layon tells Brad that the Shadowfox now belongs to him.
The Blitz Team prepares for their next Zoid battle. Since Brad isn't back yet, they're going to use Jamie instead. The Zoids are launched from the Hovercargo, and the judge arrives. But the other team isn't there, and the judge is furious. While it's thinking about what to do, the dark judge lands on top of it, and Layon arrives. The battle will be between the Shadowfox and the Blitz Team. The Blitz Team is both surprised and angry (in varying degrees) to find out that Brad is the pilot of the Shadowfox. Leena is very angry, and insults him, asking him when exactly did he join the Backdraft Group. Brad says nothing. The dark judge then begins the battle, with no battle mode. Bit charges at Brad in the Jager, but Brad swerves to the side saying that he wants to save Bit for last. Jamie goes after Brad, but gets trapped when the Fox shoots an electrical net at him. Brad charges Leena, dodges her fire, and takes her down with a strike laser claw. The Doc is amazed that Brad managed to take down two members of his team in less than thirty seconds. Layon laughs at Toros, telling him to just give up, but Toros refuses. They make a bet that if Layon wins, he gets the Liger Zero, and if Toros wins, he gets the Shadowfox. Now Bit and Brad battle. Brad leads Bit through some tight turns, without even scratching the Fox while Bit gets knocked around a bit because the Liger is bigger than the Fox. Then Brad fires from a difficult angle at Bit. Around this time, the white judge pulls itself up to the dark judge and they wrestle. The white judge wins.
During this time, Bit and Brad charge each other and both attack with strike laser claw, and then fall back. Both Bit and Brad are tired at this point. Then the white judge says, while stomping on the dark judge, that the battle is cancelled because the Zoid gear in the Shadowfox is Brad's, and he's registered as part of the Blitz Team, and members of the same team are not allowed to fight each other, so Brad gets to keep the Fox. Layon commands Brad to return, but Brad refuses saying that he only wanted the Shadowfox and had no intention of joining the Backdraft Group. Layon gets very mad, and sends out a bunch of Zabats to attack them. Brad holds them off while Bit transforms Liger into the Panzer. Then Bit attacks with Panzer's hybrid cannon to destroy a lot of Zabats. The white judge announces that anyone who stands against the ZBC shall be punished, and one of the ZBC's judge satellites opens fire and badly damages Layon's Whale King, forcing him to retreat. Brad is welcomed back to the Blitz Team, along with the Shadowfox.
