Three Saber Tigers, two silver and one gold, look down at a burning city. The pilots comment about how much they hate Imperial troops that do things like that. They decide to get revenge for the city. The three Saber Tigers run off and find the troops that burned down the city. They attack using flight packs and destroy all the Zoids.

Van and the others are talking about which way to go. They are now traveling through the Valley of Heroes, the same valley traveled by the greatest Zoid warriors of the past. Long ago, the best Zoid warriors would compete in a Zoid competition in this valley, and Van thinks it sounds like fun. He really wants to compete in a competition like that. Afterwards, Van gets in trouble when he accidentally gets stuck on a tree on a cliff, and the others have to get him down. Van falls before they can help though, and Zeke tries to catch him, but misses. Rudolf says that the City of Wind in close, and they could stop there to rest.

Van and the others finally get to the City of Wind, only to find that it has been burned down. Rudolf thinks that everything is his fault again, but Van says that this only proves that he has to get to Guylos so that he can protect people like the ones here. This cheers Rudolf up, and they continue. Meanwhile, Prozen gives orders to the three Saber Fang pilots, the three guards, to kill the Rudolf imposter. They accept the mission because they are very loyal to the Empire. The troops that gave the three guards Prozen's orders decide to attack Van and the others later even though the three guards told them to stay out of the battle. The three guards wonder if Rudolf is still alive or not, and then they find Van and the others, who are traveling along. They challenge them to a Zoid competition, which Van accepts.

Van and Irvine meet the three guards in the Zoid competition ground in the Valley of Heroes, and Rudolf, Fiona, and Moonbay go to watch. They will battle one on one. Irvine goes first and fights a silver Saber Tiger, but he loses when the Tiger bites his leg off. However, Irvine managed to get enough good hits in to take out the Saber Tiger too. Van then fights the other silver Saber Tiger with the help of Zeke. He manages to beat the Tiger with his blades, but his booster and leg were hit. Then the gold Saber Tiger fights Van, but their fight is interrupted by Imperial Redlers. It's the troops that decided to interfere with the battle. The gold Saber Tiger shoots them all down even though they're on the same side because he told them not to come and he wants to fight alone. Then, he and Van continue the battle.

All the people from the City of Wind have come to watch the battle. The Tiger manages to knock Van down and is about to finish him off when he hears Rudolf calling out Van's name. He gets distacted when he realizes that Rudolf is alive, and Van gets up and takes him out. Then they talk and Van wants to fight them again sometime because he thought it was really fun.
