Misaki (if that is indeed her name) is one of the few characters who was actually first introduced in the Anime OAVs. In the first OAV, she's assigned by the Galaxy Alliance to investigate the charges that Yuna is trying to take over the galaxy. ^_^ Yuna thinks Misaki has a crush on her; she envisions Misaki taking her clothes off and also assumes that Misaki has handcuffed her because she has a fetish of some sort.

Note that "Misaki" may be a made up name. She enrolls in Yuna's school posing as a student, for which she needs a Japanese-sounding name, but after she's apparehended Yuna at one point Yuna calls her Misaki and she says "Stop saying that; my name is Selene!" In the third game, when she's making a distress call on the radio she identifies herself as Codename: Selene and Yuna says "Ah, it's Misaki!" The game does say "MISAKI: " before each of her lines, though.

One thing to note: ADV calls her "Saline." I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be Selene, though I've seen it translated as "Siren" here and there. Saline is the salt solution that tears are made of, whereas Selene is a goddess of the moon and a Siren is a mythical creature that takes the form of a woman who lures ships onto rocks with her song. The original spelling is "Seren," where the R is usually pronounced more like an L and the Es sound like the Es in "Pele" or "Risque."

Misaki is an interesting character in that she's actually SUPPOSED to have her battle equipment. ^_^ She's an intelligence officer of the Galaxy Alliance. She carries a cool Linear Railgun (which we see her use on full auto in the second OVA) and she has a pink fish-shaped patrol cruiser. Also she has access to the top secret files of the Galaxy Alliance, so she's usually the one to turn to for intelligence on the enemy. Oh yeah, and she's the only character besides Lia who can teleport.
