In space, Bardock stands defiantly. He has gotten this far, he will not falter. But, as Frieza destroys the Saiya-Jin race, another evil is on the other side of the planet. His name is Cooler, and he's Frieza's older brother! As the battle rages, Cooler notices an escape pod with a Saiya-Jin baby inside. They begin to attack it, but Cooler stops them. After all, this Saiya-Jin baby is no threat.

Little do they realize that the baby inside will grow to be the first in 1000 years to become...a Super Saiya-Jin!

It has not yet been a year since the deadly battle on Namek. A battle in which Goku finally acheived the legendary status of Super Saiya-Jin. Exhausted after his trip on Namek, rather than train and try to perfect this new form, Goku decides he needs some R&R. So Goku, Gohan, Krillin, Oolong, and Icarus pack it up and go camping!

Meanwhile, in space, Cooler finally receives the horrible news: his brother has disgraced the name of himself and their father, King Cold, by being killed by a Saiya-Jin! Angered at his brother, Cooler sets a course for Earth, vowing to find and kill the Saiya-Jin who killed Frieza, then destroy the entire planet!

Back on Earth, everyone is really getting into the camping trip when danger arrives! Sensing someone nearby, Goku hurries to rejoin the others only to find Krillin and Gohan out cold! The culprits identify themselvs as Cooler's Armored Squad, and they vow to destroy the Saiya-Jin who killed Frieza! Goku goes into battle, leading them away from the campsite when Cooler appears, but Goku thinks it's Frieza! Gohan arrives, but Cooler decides to kill the boy instead. Goku flies up to save Gohan, but is hit by Cooler's death blast.

After recovering from his own injury, Krillin, Oolong, and Icarus head out to find Goku and Gohan. They find Goku near death and both of them buried under rocks. After helping them out, Gohan goes for some Senzu Beans while Krillin and Oolong stay behind to guard Goku.

On Corrin's tower, Corrin seems a little reluctant (he's just messing with Gohan's head though), but Yajirobi steps in and throws Gohan a bag of beans, along with one Corrin was about to eat. Gohan takes the bag and puts the spare bean in his belt for safekeeping.

After getting the beans from Corrin, Gohan heads back only to be attacked by the Armored Squad! Icarus is wounded and Gohan is about to be killed when Piccolo shows up! The Namek puts up a good fight and is about to kill Salza when Cooler arrives and tells him to catch Gohan, then blasts Piccolo through his stomach, as the Namek also wonders how Frieza survived.

Back at the cave, Salza destroys the bag of Senzu beans just before Goku can eat one! But there's still hope: as Krillin fights off Salza, Gohan remembers the spare bean he got from Yajirobi, which he feeds to Goku, allowing him to return to full strength. Gohan enters the fight too, but both he and Krillin are KO'd. Ready to end the day, Salza marches forward, only to find a fully healed and seriously ticked off Goku! But things aren't over yet! Cooler arrives with a badly injured Piccolo, and Goku pleads with Cooler (still thinking he's Frieza) to put him down. It is then that Salza reveals Cooler's identity to Goku, just as Cooler drops Piccolo and blasts what's left of him miles away. Salza turns to Goku and punches him squarely in the jaw...but Goku is too busy cursing Cooler, telling him how he can't let him live. Angered and at the end of his rope, Goku powers up, blasting Salza away. He flies towards Cooler...

Anyway, Goku and Cooler go at it when Cooler reveals he's found a NEW level of transformation, which doubles his size and strength. The two go at it a while longer, but Goku can't even detect his movements. Sick of playing games, Cooler throws Goku into a wall and begins to destroy the Earth.

When Goku lands, he begins to remember Krillin, Gohan, and Piccolo being thrashed, and begins to become enraged because he doesn't know what went wrong. He then grabs a wounded bird and, in his rage, powers up even stronger! His power skyrockets, leaving Cooler in awe...

When Cooler looks down, the bird is healed and Goku has been replaced by a golden haired, emerald eyed warrior...a Super Saiya-Jin!

With his hidden power tapped once again, Goku easily gets the upper hand, but discovers that Cooler can draw energy much, much faster than Frieza ever could! It looks like Earth is screwed when Goku pulls through and blasts away an insanely powerful ball of energy, then uses it to push Cooler out in space. Cooler begins to contemplate destroying the sun and leaving the solar system to freeze to death...only to realize he's heading straight for it! In the last moments before his death, the memory comes back: the Saiya-Jin who defeated Frieza and Cooler was the young baby that Cooler could have destroyed all those years ago...but didn't out of spite for his brother.

Back on Earth, Goku finally comes around, but he's not able to move from exhaustion. Everyone starts to look for Piccolo, but Salza appears instead! It looks like everyone is dead, but a familiar looking energy blast tears through the air. Everyone begins to look again, but decides not to. Gohan merely screams his thanks to Piccolo.

High above the mountains, Piccolo reaches his hand into a stream for a drink of refreshing water. Earth is once again safe...for now.
