Session 18: "Speak Like A Child"
On board the Bebop, Spike and Jet receive a package while Faye is away gambling. Faye returns, hears not only of the 6300 wulong COD charge, but that there's no return address. Faye hauls tail out of there, leaving the Bebop.
Meanwhile, on the Bebop, Spike rips open the package to notice an ancient box of some sort. At a 20th century artifacts experts shop, they learn it is one of a short lived series of documentation devices called a BETA tape. The group wrecks the tape player, and the tape as well is nearly destroyed by the expert. However, they are able to repair the tape and find that another player is in an old musuem in Old Asia. The group sets out for Earth, abandoning Faye temporarily, with Jet determined to find out what was on the tape so his COD isn't totally wasted.
Spike and Jet, after several harrowing adventures and near-death experiences, they do finally get their hands on a tape deck. However, once they get back to the Bebop, they find out that they got the wrong deck.
A few days later, another package arrives. This one contains a BETA deck. Ed hooks it up while Spike and Jet get ready to watch it, with Faye left out until she can cover her own COD charge. The tape begins, with Faye watching secretly in the corner...
A young girl pops up on screen. She is no older than 12 and with her friends. They do a cheer.
Scene change: now the girl is alone, and obviously very nervous.
Scene change: now it's inside her room. She is waking up...with a message for herself. It's obvious now that the tape is some kind of documentary.
No one will admit it. But they all know...
The young girl is Faye, years before the wreck that robbed her of her past.
Meanwhile, Faye is in the corner, nearly in tears...she cannot remember this past.
SEE YOU SPACE COWBOY...
