Session 22: "Cowboy Funk"

A police guard leaves a small teddy bear in a large building and walks off. The bear, however, pops up on the man's shoulder, placed there by the one and only Spike Spiegal. Spike identifies the man as Teddy Bommer, the Teddy Bear Bomber, and it would seem Bommer knows Spike as well. All bounties dread being caught by either Spike or Andy. Spike is questioning who Andy is when Bommer attempts to detonate the bear. However, Spike pulled out the firing pin. Unfortunatly, it would seem there are multiple bears! Spike asks Bommer why he wants to blow up the building. Bommer is about to comply...

Then, he came with a whistle!

The window shatters and a man atop a horse comes in, dressed entirely in a cowboy outfit. He quickly points out Teddy Bommer...too bad he thinks it's Spike! The real Bommer blows up the remaining bears and runs off, with Spike being trampled by Andy's horse.

On the Bebop, no one seems to believe Spike, until Ed digs up info on Andy, a member of the Y.M.C.A., or Young Mens Cowboy Association. It would seem he's rich and has a track record similar to Spike, with numerous destructions under his belt. Jet, however, cooks up a plan to catch Bommer, finding him at a masquerade party.

Bommer is at the masquerade party. Using a bomb-tracking device, Jet and Spike find Bommer, who is, ironically, wearing a giant Teddy Bear suit. Spike asks hims why he wants to blow stuff up...

Then, he came with a whistle!

Andy enters again and points out Bommer...again, picking out Spike! Spike gets angry and Bommer escapes by creating an explosion. Spike's Swordfish is blocked in, Spike and Jet nearly get blown up, and Faye escapes with Andy.

As Spike and Jet return to the Bebop, Faye deals with Andy at his home. The cowboy is just like Spike, and even treats her to his own special soup, Son-Of-A-Gun Stew. Faye brings Spike back a can, but even the infamous Spike Spiegal refuses to eat it.

So, Spike arranges to meet Teddy Bommer outside. when suddenly...

It's a false alarm. The two men continue talking...

And he came with a whistle!

Andy shows up again and Bommer leads the two on a chase where they're locked in an elevator. Andy tells Spike not to worry...he reverted the codes earlier in the day. Of course, Spike reverted the codes too...meaning the codes were back to the original setting! Andy panics, but Spike is able to get them out, while Faye punches out Bommer and hauls him in.

Spike and Andy, however, head up to do battle. The two duel for a while, but Spike accidentally makes a piece of the building fall, knocking Andy off. Andy believes Spike did it on purpose and gives up, declaring Spike a true cowboy.

Back on the Bebop, Spike finally resolves to eat the Son-Of-A-Gun Stew, while Bommer is about to reveal his motives...

Then, he came with a whistle?! Yup, Andy passes by, only he's now a Space Samurai! ...Call him Musashi!
