Session 5: "Ballad of the Fallen Angels"

Spike is getting info on their latest bounty, Red Dragon Syndicate head Mao Yenrai. Of course, Spike isn't telling everything he knows, so Jet begins to question him when Spike counters, asking Jet what happened to his arm. Jet declines, and Spike refuses to divulge anything else until he tells him about his arm. Faye walks in and Spike slips out, heading to get more info, and Faye intercepts a phone call: someone knows exactly where Mao Yenrai is going to be! Curious, Faye draws the top card off the deck she's been playing with...it's the Ace of Spades.

So,Spike appears at a convienance store run by a woman named Anni, who about has a heart attack when she sees Spike. After all, he's been dead for three years!

Meanwhile, Faye strikes out on her own, heading to an opera house where she will meet up with Mao Yenrai. What she finds is Mao's corpse and his killer, a man who refers to himself as Vicious.

Spike arrives back at the Bebop, loading up on heavy weapons. He's going for a final showdown, having found out that Mao was killed by Vicious, when Faye calls. She's been held captive, and Jet wants nothing to do with it, but Spike agrees to go save her. After all, she's being held by Vicious, right?

So, Spike heads over to track her down, and the first thing he does? Draw his gun and charge in. However, Vicious threatens to kill Faye. Fortunatly, Spike is a crack marksman and is able to shoot the guard with a gun to her head...well, in his head. Faye gets loose and Spike has a final showdown with Vicious, who throws him from the top of the operahouse. Just before being thrown out, Spike throws a hand grenade in, seemingly killing Vicious, and Spike plummets down...

A series of flashbacks, with no speech or dialogue, but we do learn that Spike and Vicious were old war buddies. Three days later, Spike wakes up on board the Bebop, heavily bandaged, and cracks on Faye's singing abilities, who throws a deck of cards down on him. Straining, Spike picks a card off of his nose: the Ace of Spades.
