As the title states, this gripe is about one-sided friendships. We've all heard of one-way loves right? Well this is, in a sense, the same kind of idea. Any decent set of friends wants to help each other with problems, or at least listen to each others problems right? Well then what kind of friendship is it when one person tries to do everything they can to help the other, but won't let that other help them?
It really is VERY frustrating! This says a few things to me, the most offensive being, "I don't trust you enough to tell you my problems." And should that be true then a friendship shouldn't be taking place anyway. On a lower level it's also saying, "My problems are none of your damned business." This one is simply just frustrating. Why do you insist on knowing my problems and helping me when you're crap is none of my business?
Either way, or even with any other rationales people may make up, this "one-sided friendship" is nothing but utter and complete frustration, at least to any decent person. A rather undesirable relationship, I must say. And a kind of "friendship" I can do without. Coming from me, a person with hardly a handful of friends, this says a lot, doesn't it?
