Based on the title whatever could my first problem be with the move of this great series to Cartoon Network? Bingo! Having InuYasha voiced by Richard Cox! I didn't like it when he took over for Sarah Strange either, he's just not a suitable voice for the hard headed hanyou.
To be honest ALL the voice actors bother me, cept maybe Willow Johnson as Kikyou. You have to understand that after watching the first 85 episodes subtitled, hearing these voices, (especially Kagome, Miroku, and Sango) makes my ears bleed. Kagome is not nearly as whiny as her Voice actor would have you believe. Because the guy who voices Scott Summers does Miroku's voice I keep waiting for a red beam to shoot from his Kazaana, and with Ukyou Kuonji's VA doing Sango's voice, I don't expect her to throw the boomerang but to pull out a grill and make okinumiyaki with it!
Moving of voice actors for now, let's move onto pronunciation. How's aout we start with how most of the people in the Feudal Era speak? Last time I checked people in the feudal era did not say "ye" "yon" or anything that even closely resembles Elizabethan English. If Kaede-ba-chan says ye one more time I'm gonna punch a hole in my TV set. Next, let's pick apart the way names are pronounced. What's that you didn't wanna change the names to make them easier to say, so instead you make it sound like a five year old who's first learning to read? Firstly, it's Kaa-gome not Ka-go-me. Next! It's Sesshoumaru, not Sessho-mo-ru. Next, it's Myouga, not Mi-yoga! Finally, it's Kaede (pronounced Kai-day) NOT KAI-EY-DAY! The "E" is not pronounced! Got that Viz!
Lord Monk! Lord Monk! elp me escape this terrible dub!
