Episode Two: “Ayame’s New Wand”

Scene: Close-up shot of Ayame’s closed eyes.
Ayame: (opens eyes) Huh…? (she’s wearing purple pajamas, standing in an infinite whiteness; she sounds sleepy as she thinks to her self) Where am I?
(we hear a voice in the distance. Ayame looks straight ahead and sees a glowing pink star coming toward her. The voice sounds like a child, far away, singing)
Ayame: You… (takes a step forward) Who are you?
(the pink star continues to flicker and shine as it grows larger, coming close to Ayame. She holds out her hand)
Ayame: Who are you?
(abruptly, the screen fades to white, and then fades back in to Ayame asleep on her bed. She opens her eyes, and sits up)
Ayame: A dream…
(she notices Galhados rolled up and asleep on the covers near the foot of her bed. Grinning, she quietly gets out of bed, and approaches her window. She pushes it open, grasping a can with a string attached to it. The string stretches all the way to the house across the way, to their upstairs window. Ayame holds the can to her mouth, and speaks)
Ayame: Itaru-kun? Itaru-kun, get up!
(Inside Itaru’s room, we see a large green lump of covers reach out a hand to the window. Itaru absentmindedly shoos her away, then goes back to snoring)
Ayame: Hmphf. (puts down the can)
Galhados: You were going to tell him, weren’t you?
Ayame: WAAAAIIIIIII~! (falls backwards, feet sticking in the air) Don’t scare me like that!!!!!
Galhados: (floating above Ayame, shaking her head) You see, THIS is why the master of the Cards should be at least an age that won’t cause them to do stupid things.
Ayame: (mad) What?! I wasn’t going to do anything stupid!
Galhados: Ayame-chan, you can’t tell Itaru-kun. He’d either think you were lying, or he’d ask you to demonstrate your magic.
Ayame: He’d believe me! And he can’t make me do anything!
Galhados: Hmm. True.
Ayame: (blinking, realizes something) Hey, wait a second. How do you know Itaru-kun?
Galhados: The Hope card created me using some of yours and Li-san’s memories. I know practically everything about you two.
Ayame: (sweatdrop) Everything…?
Galhados: Yup.
Ayame: Oi…
Galhados: It’s better that way, believe me. We shouldn’t be wasting time getting to know each other. You need to figure out how to revive the Cards.
Ayame: (points at the Star Wand, leaning against the wall) Well, maybe I could use that stick-thingy you got out of the Clow.
Galhados: (sweatdrop) It’s not a stick. It’s Sakura’s wand.
Ayame: Whatever you say, Gal-chan.
Gal: Gal…chan…?!
Ayame: (holds up index finger, grinning) Yup!! It’s your nickname! Cute, huh?
Gal: (suddenly panicked) Aah!!!
Ayame: What? It’s not THAT bad of a name…
Gal: Ayame-chan…the door…
Ayame: Hm? (turns around to see the door) Oh, man…
Tomoyo: (standing at the door) Ayame-chan…you…
Scene: Ayame and Gal are sitting on the sofa looking very perplexed.
Tomoyo: (singing and dancing) Yaaayyyy!!!!! This is absolutely wonderful!!! I can’t believe it!! (holds Ayame’s face, stars in her eyes) You’ll make such a cute Card Captor, Ayame-chan!!!
Ayame: Um…Gal-chan said I’m a Card Reviver, actually.
Tomoyo: Ah! Card Reviver Ayame!! That’s so cute!!! (in the video, Tomoyo would probably say “Kawaii desu wa!!!!”, FYI)
Ayame: Tomoyo-san, you’re not mad?
Tomoyo: Of course not! I never told you, did I? (sits next to Ayame) I was friends with Sakura.
Ayame: Really?!
Tomoyo: Mm-hm! When I found out that Keroberos had chosen her to become the Master of the Cards, I decided to help her out when she battled!
Ayame: Cool…can you do magic?!
Tomoyo: (smiling) Not quite, but close to it…
Scene: Tomoyo opens a closet, and turns on the light inside. She steps back to reveal the many costumes she made for Sakura, all covered in plastic jackets and labeled with dates.
Ayame: C-cool!!!
Gal: Ah, I remember…Tomoyo-san sewed outfits for Sakura to wear when she captured the Cards.
Tomoyo: That’s right!
Ayame: (exploring the many costumes) This is amazing! There must be at least thirty costumes here!
Tomoyo: It was a challenge to come up with different designs every time, but I enjoyed it very much. (takes out one) Sakura caught the Create with this…and she sealed Light and Dark in this one, even though she was really only wearing it for a play…this one was when she got the Arrow…
Ayame: What about that one? (points at a costume hanging on the wall of the closet to the side, apart from the rest)
Tomoyo: That is the last costume I made for Sakura. She sealed the Hope card with it.
Ayame: Really?! That’s the card that gave me Gal-chan!
Gal: Yeah. The Hope’s power reversed after Sakura sealed it and changed it into a Sakura card.
Tomoyo: Huh… she never did use that card after she sealed it… in fact, she didn’t have to use the cards at all after that. (something beeps) Oops, my pager…(takes it out)…Well, I guess it’s time for me to go.
Ayame: What’s up?
Tomoyo: (gathering her things together) Someone sent a 9-1-1, so they probably want me to fix the coffee machine or something. (heads for the door) You can go to Itaru-kun’s house if you like, just tell Kiana-san!
Ayame: Ok! (Tomoyo leaves)
Gal: It makes sense that she’s in the designer business…but I wonder what she did with all those videos?
Ayame: What videos?
Scene: Ayame and Gal are sitting on the sofa in front of the TV. Ayame is munching popcorn, and we can hear Sakura’s voice coming from the TV; “O key of the stars, reveal to me your true form…”
Ayame: (watching Sakura change the key into the Sakura Wand) COOL!!!
Gal: (nodding) Yup, Tomoyo-san did a nice job taping all this.
Ayame: (popcorn spilling out from her mouth) Well, yeah, but look at Sakura! I’m gonna be just like that! (points at the screen, which now shows Sakura activating Fly)
Gal: Supposedly. You do realize that neither you nor I have any idea what we’re doing.
Ayame: (shrugs) Well, maybe…(watches Sakura; “Erase!!”) But, I’m betting that Sakura didn’t really know what she was doing at first, either.
Gal: (looks up at Ayame) You are wiser than you seem.
Ayame: Thanks! (takes out a notepad and pencil)
Gal: What’s that?
Ayame: Just because I don’t know what I’m doing doesn’t mean I shouldn’t try to learn! (licks the tip of the pencil and starts taking notes) “O key of the stars…”
Gal: Um, that won’t completely work.
Ayame: Why not? “Reveal your true form…”
Gal: This is the Sakura wand. In other words, only Sakura can use it.
Ayame: (sweatdrop) What…?
Gal: Like I said, I have no idea how this is going to turn out. You can’t use the wand as it is now.
Ayame: WHAT?! But…but…(picks up the Sakura wand)…I touched it and it…glowed and stuff…
Gal: True, but only because I activated it.
Ayame: Well…(thinks)…then…there has to be some sort of answer in these tapes! I bet Sakura had to solve problems like this! I’m not giving up that easy!
Gal: Ayame-chan, you’re not her. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but-(Ayame whaps a pillow over her)-ouch…
Ayame: Shush up, I’m trying to learn…(fast-forwards to another battle. She stops, and we see a ten-year-old Li with his battle armor) Hey, who’s that? (Li readies his sword; “God of Lightening! Descend!!”) Wha?!
Gal: (gets out from behind the pillow, breathing) Oy…please don’t do that…
Ayame: (watches Li’s attack) Gal-chan! That’s Li-san! He’s…smaller!
Gal: Yeah?
Ayame: But…how did…is he…?
Gal: Syaoran Li-san came to Japan to get the Clow Cards. Of course, Sakura became the real Master in the end, and he continued helping her afterwards. (quietly) They were inseparable…
Ayame: Wait a sec!! Li-san uses magic, right? Does he use Clow’s magic also?
Gal: He uses a variation of it. In fact, Li-san is a descendant of Clow Reed himself.
Ayame: Whoa…that was nice of him to help her.
Gal: (to herself) Nicer than you know.
Scene: Itaru is walking around the corner to Ayame’s house. He buzzes the maid (Itaru: Hello, is Ayame here? Kiana: Yes, I’ll let you in so you can see her.), and enters the gate.
Itaru: (looks up the long driveway) Why did they build this stupid half-mansion on a hill?! (he begins climbing)
(the scene cuts; Ayame is standing with the Sakura wand in the middle of the lawn on the side of the house. The cards are in a pile next to her. She seems to be concentrating, holding one of the Cards)
Ayame: (throws it up in the air) FLY!!
(the card goes into the air, and floats back lazily to the ground. Ayame frowns, and picks up the card)
Itaru: Who are you talking to?
Ayame: WAAAAII~! (whirls around, clutching the wand and the Card) What is it with people wanting to sneak up on me all the time?!
Itaru: Sorry. Kiana-san let me in. (looks at the Cards on the ground) What are those?
Ayame: Um, these? Well, they…
Itaru: (dashes over and picks them up) COOL! These must be Tarot cards or something!! Can you tell fortunes?
Ayame: Er…yes! I…can!
Itaru: Show me!! I wanna see!!!
Ayame: OK…(shuffles the cards together, looking rather frantic) Um…now you take the cards, Itaru-kun. (Itaru takes the deck; Ayame holds the Sakura wand over his head) O, Tarot cards, show me the mysteries of this boy’s future!
Itaru: Now what?
Ayame: (she’s totally into it now) Shuffle the cards once, and place three of them face down in front of you. (he obeys, and puts the cards down in front of him)
Itaru: Where’d you get these, the Barbie store? They’re all pink.
Ayame: Shush!! (taps each card with the Sakura wand) You’re disturbing the…um…cosmic forces!! (she kneels down and turns the first card over; it’s the Dash) You will win a contest using your agility! (the next card is the Sweet) Um…you will also win that same contest using your acute sense of taste! (the last card is the Shadow) And…the…the loser will stalk you for revenge!
Itaru: Cool! Hey, where are the pictures?
Ayame: (gathers up the cards) They came that way. Don’t be so picky.
Itaru: (stands up) Oh, by the way, I came over to ask you why you woke me up so early. What was the emergency?
Ayame: (nervously) It was only eight o’clock! And, it wasn’t an emergency, I just wanted to chat.
Itaru: OK. Well, I have to get back, Mom’s expecting me. (leaves, heading down the driveway) See ya!
Ayame: Bye! (after Itaru disappears from sight, Ayame sighs and looks at the Cards) What am I supposed to do to make you work? I did everything Sakura did. (blinks, realizing something) Hey! That’s it!!
Scene: We see a closed door in a hallway in Tomoyo’s house. The doorknob turns, and Ayame peeks an eye out. She then opens the door fully; she’s wearing Sakura’s black-and-pink cat costume, from when she sealed the Thunder.
Ayame: (puts hands on her hips, causing the bells to jingle) All right!! I’m ready for business!! (glances at a mirror on the wall, sweatdrops) But I look like a lunatic…
Gal: (flies in from around a corner) What in the WORLD are you wearing…?! Hey, that’s one of Sakura’s outfits!
Ayame: Hey, Gal-chan! I need your help; which card did Sakura seal with this costume?
Gal: Um…the Thunder.
Ayame: Okay! (she runs outside with Sakura’s wand, and Gal watches her from the window)
Gal: (sweatdrops, as Ayame yells “Thunder!” and throws up the card and attempts to strike it with the wand) She’s a lunatic…(the card falls to the ground, and Ayame crosses her arms in frustration)
Scene: We hear upbeat music. Sakura is skating down a lane of cherry blossom trees. The camera pulls back to show the video of Sakura, and Ayame watching it, taking notes. <scene cuts> Ayame enters a store, and talks with the clerk. He takes out a pair of roller blades and places them on the counter. Ayame takes them out; seeing that they’re black, she asks him again, and he takes out a pair that are pink. She smiles, and pays him. Gal is watching as Ayame puts them on outside, sighing. Ayame stands in the roller blades, wobbles, and promptly falls. <scene cuts> Back in the living room, Ayame watches more Sakura tapes. She watches Sakura going all “floaty” when she sees Ms. Mitsuki, and takes notes. <scene cuts> Ayame passes by Li’s house, where Li is watering the flowers. He waves, and Ayame starts acting all “floaty” and begins to blush. Li raises an eyebrow, and Ayame stops, sweatdropping. <scene cuts> The video that Ayame is watching shows Kero eating a bunch of Takoyaki; Sakura enters and scolds him. Ayame chews her pencil, and writes something down. She then breathes in deeply, and exhales.
Ayame: This is hard work.
Scene: Gal is in Ayame’s room, sitting on the desk, in front of the Clow. She closes her eyes, and begins floating above the book. The screen fades to black, and then the shadow of a tall man is seen.
Man: You…you shall pay…
(Gal opens her eyes, frowning)
Gal: Just who was it? What is this memory of Li’s…?
Ayame: Hoeeeeeee~!
Gal: (whips around to face Ayame, who just entered the room) What the~?!
Ayame: (holding her hands under her chin, like Sakura) Who were you talking to? You started glowing and stuff again…
Gal: (raised eyebrow) When was the last time you said “Hoeee”?
Ayame: (sweatdrop) Um, never…but…
Gal: You puzzle me so VERY much…(flies to her) What did you want to ask me?
Ayame: (puts her hands down) Nothing, I’m just curious what you’re doing with the Clow.
Gal: Actually I’m trying to figure out one of Li’s memories. There’s a man…he wants to get back at someone for something…
Ayame: (out of her Sakura-mood) Creepy. Well, I’m gonna go eat dinner, what should I bring up for you?
Gal: Whatever you don’t eat. (sighs) This arrangement isn’t quite the ideal for me. I wonder what Kiana-san would think if she saw a small brown animal float into the kitchen…
Ayame: (wags he finger) Hey, if I can’t tell Itaru-kun, you can’t tell Kiana-oneesan!
Gal: All right. Hurry up, all this concentrating has been hard on my stomach.
Ayame: Okay, I’ll be right back.
Scene: Li is working the front yard, re-planting some pansies. He stops to wipe his forehead, and checks his watch for the time.
Li: Almost dusk. (stands up, taking off his gloves. He looks up at the sky, which is slightly dimmed) If anything happens…(he suddenly turns and marches to his front door. He enters the house, and goes to his old-fashioned phone, which is hung on the wall. He picks it up, and dials)
<scene cuts>
Ayame: (sitting at dinner, the phone rings) I’ll get it!
Kiana: Remember what to do if it’s a phone solicitor…
Ayame: I know, I know, I’ll ask them to take us off their list and then hang up…(she picks up the phone) Hello?
Li: Suzuki, it’s Li.
Ayame: (in an energetic tone) Li-san! I’m glad you called! (lowers her voice so Kiana can’t hear) Are you ready for tonight?
Li: (groans slightly) Well, that’s why I called. I’m sorry Suzuki…I can’t let you go out there. You’ll get hurt. You might get killed. We have no idea what this mysterious girl is capable of…and even if we manage somehow to get rid of her, her “master” will most likely come for revenge.
Ayame: Well, thanks for the vote of confidence.
Li: This has nothing to do with how capable I think you are.
Ayame: Really? I think it has everything to do with it.
Li: Suzuki-
Ayame: No, you wait! I was the one who opened the book! I was the one that Gal-chan picked! I’ve been trying hard all day to study how to do this! I’ve spent half of the day sitting on my sofa watching Tomoyo-san’s videos, taking down notes on every Card she ever sealed! I CAN’T QUIT NOW!!
Li: Gal-chan…?(shakes his head) Never mind. I’m sorry, Suzuki. You need to stay home tonight. Put Daidouji on the phone.
Ayame: (flat tone) She’s at work.
Li: Oh…wait a second…
Ayame: I’m not lying!
Li: Did you tell her about tonight?
Ayame: I don’t have to tell anybody anything!
Li: (groans) Will PLEASE stop acting like a child?!
Ayame: NEWS FLASH!!! I AM A CHILD!!! I’M THE HELPLESS LITTLE CHILD WHO MIGHT BREAK HER NAIL IF SHE GOES OUT TONIGHT!!! (slams the phone down)
Kiana: Is everything all right?
Ayame: Fine. (runs upstairs)
Scene: Gal is sitting on Ayame’s bed, reading a book. Ayame opens the door, and slams it behind her.
Gal: Done with dinner? Where’s my share?
Ayame: (holding a tight fist) That old Li thinks I’m just some puny little girl! I can’t believe it, I actually risked my life for that guy!
Gal: Well, you are kind of pathetic.
Ayame: (sits on her bed) I mean, please!! I’m no different from Sakura! She had no idea what she was doing when she opened that book! She was just my age! She-
Gal: Wasn’t you.
Ayame: (looks at Gal, a look of anger on her face) …If that’s the way you feel about it, I guess I’ll just have to do this on my own.
Gal: Ayame-chan, I didn’t mean it like that…
Ayame: I’ll show all of you I can do it. (gets up, exits, and returns a moment later with Sakura’s last costume) Well, if I’m gonna do this right, I’ve gotta look like a real Card Reviver, huh?
Gal: Ayame-chan…
(scene cuts; Ayame has Sakura’s outfit on, and is holding the Sakura wand as she opens her window)
Gal: What if Kiana-san finds that you’re not here?
Ayame: She won’t come in, I locked the door. (she climbs out the window, onto the porch rooftop. She looks back at Gal) Don’t let her in. And feel free to use this window after I’m out.
Gal: Ayame-chan-
(she disappears from view, and climbs off the rooftop into the back yard. Gal watches from the window)
Gal: You’re just feeling a lot of pressure, Ayame-chan. (she makes her way across the grass, and around the house, where she runs away into the darkness) You’re mad…because you don’t think you can do it…because you’re not Sakura.
Scene: Ayame is running down the street in the night. We can roughly see her outline, and her hair is covering her eyes. We hear Ayame remembering things; (Li: I can’t let you go out there. You’ll get hurt. You might get killed. Gal: You’re not Sakura.)
Ayame: (continues running, breathing hard; she thinks to herself) What if…what if they’re right? I…don’t think I can do this…I need them to tell me…tell me I’ll be great… (out loud) I don’t need anybody!!!
Girl: (unseen) Aw, how cute. The little girl is reaching puberty. Nothing quite like an depressed, drawn-in preteen.
Ayame: (stops running, and looks in all directions) Where are you? I can’t fight you if I can’t see you!
Girl: Sucks to be you. (in a lower voice) Beast of the earth…I conjure thee!!
(a yellow circle appears in front of Ayame. She holds the wand tight, staring with concentration at the glowing circle)
Ayame: (her voice nearly cracks) What, more dogs?
Girl: The Great Beast Conjurer Mab doesn’t ever repeat herself.
Ayame: Mab…?
Mab: Out, babies!
(the circle bursts, and a giant mass explodes out, rises toward the sky. Ayame squints, then makes out what it is; a horde of insects)
Ayame: Bugs!
Mab: Actually, they’re hornets. But, call them what you will. It won’t matter after they finish you off.
(the hornets stop flying up, and hover up in the air for a moment. Ayame takes out a card. The hornets suddenly dive down and begin bombarding her)
Ayame: (holds up the wand and Card against the hundreds of hornets) AAAAAAII~!
Mab: Like I said before, you don’t want to mess with me. I guess I’ll get this over with. (snaps her fingers; one of the hornets, a large one, makes a b-line for Ayame)
Ayame: (crouching on the ground, she looks up and sees the large hornet) What-?!
Li: (swings his sword against a talisman behind Ayame) God of wind! Descend!! (a wind picks up, blowing the hornets away)
Ayame: Li-san!
Li: (silence; he stares at Ayame with utter disappointment and anger)
Mab: Hey, who invited you?! Two against 893 isn’t fair!
Li: (low voice) Run away.
Ayame: I-
Li: GET OUT OF HERE! (grabs her hat and throws it off on the concrete)
Ayame: (shaking) Li-san…
(the hornets begin collecting together and flying back towards Ayame and Li)
Ayame: (head down) You hate me…you think I’m in the way…
Li: (breathing hard, slowly softening his face) I…I’m sorry…Suzuki, just go. And…put Sakura’s costume back.
Ayame: Huh?
(suddenly, Li screams out in pain, and falls to the ground, clutching his left shoulder)
Mab: STRRRRIKE ONE!
Ayame: Li-san!!!!
Li: (through clenched teeth) Go home…
Ayame: No…I have to do something…(sees the hole in his shoulder, and closer inspection reveals a stinger, plunged into his skin through his coat fabric; the stinger is bulging, and appears to be sinking in) The stinger! (she takes out a Card, and concentrates on it, thinking) Please, please, please…(she throws it up, speaking out loud) MOVE!!!
Mab: Clow Card…?
(the card rises up, then flutters back to the ground. Ayame looks down at it, her body limp as a rag doll)
Mab: Ha! Where’s your magic now?!
Ayame: I can’t do it…(sinks to her knees next to Li, covering her eyes) I’m not Sakura…I don’t have that kind of power…
???: (whispering) Ayame…
Ayame: Huh…? (she looks up, and sees nothing but whiteness. Li is gone, and the hornets are nowhere to be seen. She stands and turns around) Where am I? (suddenly, she notices a girl floating before her in flowing white clothing) You…
Sakura: (she lands in front of Ayame, holding a Sakura wand; she looks to be about eleven years old) Hello, Ayame.
Ayame: (blinking and disbelief) Sa…Sakura!
(the camera zooms back to show Sakura and Ayame facing each other. Each holds their own wand in a mirror image to each other)
Sakura: I’m so happy that you will bring the Cards back, Ayame. I knew when I put them back in the Clow, they would find a new friend. You’re so close to it, Ayame.
Ayame: What?
Sakura: Why do you want to bring the Cards back, Ayame?
Ayame: I want to be a master of the Cards like you. And I need to protect Li-san from Mab.
Sakura: (nods, and holds out her hand; a Card appears in it) Do you remember this card?
Ayame: …The Hope. It vanished after I used it to make Gal-chan. But…
Sakura: Hold it.
Ayame: Uh…(takes the Card) It…it’s warm…
Sakura: We each have our own destiny, Ayame. I became master of the Cards because I wanted to make all of the Cards my friends, not just because I was chosen. Each Card has its own heart and personality, which you will notice over time.
Ayame: But none of the other Cards feel like this. They’re all…faded away…they just feel like paper.
Sakura: You can revive them, all you need is the right resources. (takes Ayame’s hand, holding their wands together. Sakura looks Ayame in the eyes) Just as we each have our own destiny, we have our own wishes. I wished the Cards to be happy, to be my friends. What is your wish, Ayame?
Ayame: (looks back, somewhat confused. Then, she blinks, and smiles) I understand now.
Sakura: (lets go and floats back, smiling) Wish, then!
Ayame: (holds the Sakura wand up in front of her with both hands) I wish to protect my friends and to revive the Cards!!
(the Sakura wand bursts with light, sending gold rays everywhere. The screen fades to white, and we see Mab in the tree. She holds up her hands, blocking the light)
Mab: What-what the?!
Li: (looks up at Ayame, who is glowing as a wind picks up about her) Suzuki…
Ayame: (her hair whipping this way and that, she holds the bright wand before her, which is too bright to see) RELEASE!!
(the wand flashes a wave of white energy, and then stops glowing. The wind dies down, and Ayame stands in the quiet street with Li, holding the wand. It has morphed; the wings are on either side of it to the right, and its main red material is curled into a spiral)
Li: The wand…changed?
(the hornets continue to fly towards Ayame and Li, buzzing furiously)
Ayame: (Li tries to get up, but she stops him) Stay down. I can get rid of them.
Li: Suzuki…?
Ayame: (holds up a card) O Card sealed by Sakura, awaken from thy sleep and be revived, in the name of Ayame, thy new Mistress. FREEZE!!
(the cards bursts with light and changes from gold-and-pink to gold-and-purple. Freeze’s visible form, a large crystal gray sea animal, flies at and through the swarm of hornets, freezing them all in mid air)
Mab: WHAT?!
Ayame: Freeze the stinger in Li’s shoulder!
(Freeze circles Li faster and faster, creating a small tornado around him. When the wind dies away, the Freeze goes back to its Card form, and Li pulls out the frozen stinger from his shoulder, wincing)
Li: It stopped going in…
Mab: (jumps down to the street, putting her hands against the large ice mass, full of her hornets) Babies!! (turns at Ayame, glaring) You PATHETIC little…
Ayame: (holds her wand up, in a ready stance) Yes?
Mab: (clenches her teeth, and turns around to the glowing yellow circle) Time to go back and gather my resources. You might actually put up a fight, little girl. (she jumps up and into the circle, and the ice gets pulled into the circle. The circle shrinks and disappears into the ground)
Gal: (right next to Ayame’s head) Well done.

Li: (gets up, dusting off his coat) I came out here to stop Suzuki.
Gal: (wagging her finger) Ah, but contrary to your intentions, you did nothing of the sort.
Li: (sweatdrop, he mumbles) You don’t have to act so uptight about it…
Ayame: Hey, Gal-chan? Do you know what happened to this Card? (she holds up the Freeze)
Gal: Somehow, your will to protect Li-san gave you the power to awaken the Cards. (nods and nods) Yes, this is quite a bit different from what I thought would happen…
Ayame: But why does it look different?
Gal: The speech you used. That card is under your contract now. It’s your card. An Ayame card.
Ayame: HONTOOOOOOOOU?! (Really?!)
Li: Wait a sec! Ayame card? She can change them all now?
Ayame: Isn’t it awesome?! I’m a real Card Reviver now! I can do this!
Li: Uh…yeah…
Ayame: (looks at the Freeze, smiling) And the best part is, I can feel it now…what Sakura was talking about…
Li: Sakura?
Gal: Well, we best head home before Kiana-san finds you gone. (Ayame and Gal begin walking up the street, leaving Li standing by himself) This has all been good and fun, but I’d love for some dinner now…
Ayame: (looks back at Li, and stops walking) Li-san!
Li: Huh?
Ayame: Thank you, Li-san!
Li: (blinks, and turns away) It was nothing… (in Japanese, he would say “Ore wa betsuni…”)
(Ayame grins, and walks home with Gal floating with her)
