Episode Five – Blocked Off

Joe: Last time on Digimon, we received a message from Gennai. His house was under siege, and he also told us that our stolen in-trainings were hidden in Infinity Mountain. That night, Cupidmon came and kidnapped Tai, Sora, Matt, Mimi, T.K., and Kari. The rest of us headed toward Server to try and find them at Gennai’s house. We split up, Izzy and Allison with Terremotomon, and Maria and I on Conegamon. Who knows what dangers we’ll face!

(Digimon Theme)

Scene: Maria and Joe are riding on top of Conegamon high over the clouds.

Maria: (breathing the fresh air) This is the way to travel!

Joe: It’s definitely a lot easier than walking. We must’ve covered at least five miles all ready!

Conegamon: I wouldn’t be surprised.

Maria: (looking down, then pointing) Hey, Joe! What’s that little village right there?

Joe: Hey, that’s the Koromon’s village!

Maria: You mean there’s more than one Koromon?

Joe: Uh-huh!

Maria: I wonder if there are other Conegamon here, too.

Conegamon. Unlikely. For any Okomon to become Conegamon takes solely the power of your digivice.

Maria: Wow…I didn’t know this little gadget was so special…

Joe: It’s not just the digivice, Maria. You are the only one who can help Okomon digivolve. In fact, Tai and Kari were able to help Koromon digivolve without a digivice once.

Maria: Really? When was that?

Joe: About…(thinks)…seven years ago. We were all just kids when a Koromon somehow came through to the Real world, along with…

(Scene switches to Izzy and Allison, who are still riding a burrowing Terremotomon. It’s pretty dark, but you can see their out-lines)

Izzy: …a really bad-tempered Parrotmon. Parrotmon tried to destroy our apartment, but Koromon became Greymon and defeated him.

Allison: You were there when this happened?

Izzy: Yes; in fact, all of the digi-destined were there. That enabled for our information to be processed, so that our digimon and digivices could be created. Oh! And our crests were also created with our information.

Allison: Crests? What crests?

Izzy: Each of us has a special quality that can help our digimon digivolve into even more powerful digimon than Champions. They’re called Ultimate digimon.

Allison: What’s your ‘special quality’?

Izzy: I have the crest of Knowledge. The others have crests, too. In fact, I have a feeling that you do, too.

Allison: Me? But…all I have is the digivice that Gennai sent me. I didn’t get a crest. Well, and I also found this after came to the digital world. (Pulls a tag necklace out from her shirt) Pretty bland-looking, if you ask me.

Izzy: Hey, that’s a tag!

Allison: (sweat-drop) And an even blander sounding name…

Izzy: No, you see, once we find your crest, it goes inside the tag. Together, they can help Terremotomon digivolve again!

Allison: Hey, that’s cool! But…where’s yours?

Izzy: Apocylomon destroyed it. (Allison gasps; “What?!”) It’s all right. We found out that we didn’t need the crests themselves. They were inside our hearts the whole time.

Allison: What about mine?

Izzy: I’m not sure. I’ll make a point to ask Gennai where it is next time he contacts us.

(They continue to dig through the soil, when all of the sudden, they crash through (“WOOOOOOOAAH!!!!) into an already-made tunnel. You can see them now, because there’s a lantern on the ground)

(Commercial Break)

Allison: (sitting up) Hey, what happened?!

Izzy: (laying on his stomach, Allison sitting on his back) I’ll be happy to explain once you get off me…

Allison: Oops, sorry Zumi…(jumps off)

Izzy: (red in the face) My name is not Zumi!!!!!

Allison: (sarcastically) You know Zumi, you really need to work on your anger problems. Have considered counseling?

Izzy: Grrrrrrrrrr……….

Terremotomon: I’m tired. And hungry…(de-digivolved to Topomon)

Allison: (picks up Topomon) Aw, poor Topomon…

Izzy: I guess the only way now is to walk through the tunnel…

Allison: Hey, look! A lantern!

Izzy: What’s a lantern doing here?!

Allison: I don’t care, as long as we don’t have to stumble around in the dark. You said you found a trolley cart once in the middle of the lake, how is this any stranger?

Izzy: I guess you’re right. (he picks up the lantern, and they both start walking)

Allison: (looking a little scared) Um…I better hold your hand, Zumi. I don’t want you to freak out or anything…

(They continue on, Izzy leading the way with the lantern, Allison holding to his hand and Topomon in the other, glancing nervously around the rocky tunnel. after a while, the ground begins to go upward, and its uphill for a ways)

Allison: Oh, man! This is horrible! Topomon’s too tired to digivolve, and we’re stuck underground! How can things get any worse?

Izzy: Don’t worry. We’re not stuck, yet. There’s still a trail…(he stops, and Allison bonks into him)

Allison: Hey! (dancing white anime spots) Watch where you’re going!!

Izzy: Allison; Look. (he points to the wall in front of him, which has a symbol on it that looks like a curvy screw)

Allison: Oh, no!!! (puts down Topomon, goes up to it, and starts to whine) Now we’re really stuck!!!

Izzy: Wait a second, Allison! Hold out your tag!

Allison: (turning away from the wall, and facing Izzy with her hands on her hips) How is that supposed to help?! (As she complains, the wall begins to glow. She turns around) Huh…?

(As she stands totally paralyzed with fear, her tag comes out and floats in mid-air. The wall shrinks to the size of a quarter, and goes toward the tag. Allison looks on, becoming less afraid. The crest inserts itself inside the tag, and Allison takes hold of it)

Izzy: It’s your crest!!

Allison: My crest…? Hey! (turns to Topomon happily) Do you realize what this means, Topomon? You can digivolve again!

Topomon: Uh-huh!

Izzy: Even better news; look over there!

Allison: Huh? (looks where the wall was; it’s now open to the surface) All right!! Now we can get out and find some food for Topomon.

Izzy: Yeah! (looks worried) I hope there aren’t any Tankmon up there. We should be extra careful.

(They slowly make there way up to the exit, and poke their heads out. There’s nothing but dessert.)

Allison: (big sweat drop) Ooooohh…

Izzy: Well, I guess we should start walking.

Topomon: I feel so weak. Could you carry me, Allison?

Allison: Sure…(gives Topomon a piggy-back ride) Oof. I hope we find Maria and Joe soon. (zooms to the vast sky) Conegamon could give us a lift.

(Commercial Break)

Scene: Maria and Joe are still riding atop Conegamon.

Maria: I hope Allison and Izzy are all right. Hey, Conegamon. Maybe we should go back down so you can rest.

Conegamon: I wouldn’t argue with that.

Joe: We need to be careful, though! We have no idea if the Dark Triad has influence in this area.

(They dive and land in a vast desert)

Maria: Nothing but sand for miles…

Joe: Let’s just stop and rest a while before we start walking again.

(Conegamon de-digivolves back to Okomon)

Okomon: Did either of you bring anything to eat?

Maria: Sorry, I don’t have anything.

Okomon: Ooh, I could eat a whole island…

Maria: (jokingly) How about this desert we’re in?

Joe: Hold on, lemme check in my bag…(he searches through it, and pulls out a Tupperware box full of grapes and cantaloupe slices)

Maria: Wow! That looks delicious! Since when did you start carrying around produce with you?

Joe: I had a feeling that we’d be coming back to the Digital World, so I brought some supplies.

Okomon: (chowing down on the goodies) Mm-mm!! This is great! I love fruit so much, I could eat it every day!!

Maria: We’ll see about that; Joe, how much did you bring?

Joe: About enough for ten people for three days. Minimum rations, though.

Maria: Hmm, and it’ll be kinda difficult since we have to feed Okomon, too. Huh?! (staring straight ahead)

Joe: Hm? What’s wrong? (Maria points at a solid wall that seems to stretch from one side of the desert to the other) What the…? (BIG sweatdrop) That wasn’t there before!!

Maria: I’m not seeing things? Oh, man…

Okomon: I wonder how that happened…?

Joe: Well, I suppose it could be an illusion.

Maria: But we all see it!

Joe: That’s true, but lots of times when I was in the Digi-world before, lots of things weren’t like they seemed. (Starts to walk toward the wall) I’m gonna check it out.

Maria: I’ll come with you! (All three walk toward the wall)

Okomon: It’s so long, you can’t see either of the ends!

Maria: How are we supposed to get over it?

Okomon: I’d help you, but I’m still really tired from that long flight to Server…

Joe: It’s all right, we could just walk the other way.

Maria: But that’s where we came from! We’d be going backwards!

Joe: You have a point.

Maria: I guess it wouldn’t be that bad…I really want to find Allison.

Okomon: (landing on the sand after floating) Ooh…I don’t think I can fly…

Maria: Oh, poor Okomon. (Picks up the pooped-out Digimon) You just rest, and we can take a break before we go see if that wall if for real.

Okomon: I haven’t been this hot since I visited Mt. Miharashi…

(Maria sets down Okomon and takes off her violin case, setting it in the sand)

Maria: I bet my violin isn’t doing so well, either…(starts to open the case)

Joe: What are you doing?

Maria: I thought I might pass the time be playing something. (Tightens the bow and puts on the shoulder-rest) Besides, I better enjoy my violin before it melts in this heat…

Joe: Hey, that’s great! What are you going to play?

Maria: Something by Beethoven. (takes out some music and props it up in a sand bank) I played it two years ago for a Solo competition.

Joe: Did you win?

Maria: There wasn’t a winner, I just got judged on things like my intonation and tone. Anyway, here I go!

(Maria lifts the bow up above the string, and then begins to play Beethoven’s Romance Concerto. The scenery changes, and the sun doesn’t seem quite so harsh anymore. Okomon drifts to sleep, and Joe continues to listen. The scene goes to Allison and Izzy)

Izzy: Huh? Do you hear something, Allison?

Topomon: It sounds like a violin!

Allison: It’s Maria!! (starts to run across the desert, Izzy following)

Izzy: You don’t know that for sure! We could be going into someone’s trap!

Allison: I’m sure it’s Maria! I remember her playing this piece a while back. It’s just gotta be her!

(Maria continues to play, and Allison and Izzy are getting closer)

Joe: Huh? (notices two people running toward them) Maria! Someone’s coming!

Maria: (stops playing) Hey! Who’s there?

Allison: Maria! Maria, it’s me! (she keeps running until she gets to Maria and hugs her) I’m so glad I found you!

Maria: Same here! Are you O.K.? What happened to Topomon?

Izzy: She eventually ran out of energy. We fortunately came across an already made tunnel, and got to the surface.

Joe: A tunnel? How strange.

Allison: And that’s not all! (holds out her crest)

Joe: Hey, you got your crest!

Maria: (putting away the violin) Why are you so excited? It looks like a normal charm necklace…

Izzy: It’s not just a necklace. That crest can help Terremotomon digivolve again.

Maria: Really? Into an even more powerful digimon, you mean? (Joe nods) Huh! I wonder if I can find mine…

Joe: I wish I could give you a more confident answer, but that fact is, we all had to search for our crests, too. It could be hidden in a flower, in the goal net of a soccer field, or even in the hands of the enemy.

Izzy: Hey!! What’s that?! (pointing to the wall)

Allison: It’s so huge…

Maria: We don’t really know yet. It just sort of appeared when we landed to take a rest.

Joe: I don’t know about you guys, but I’d rather go check this thing out instead of just heading the same direction we came from.

(all agree)

Maria: Then let’s go!

(Commercial Break)

(all start to walk toward the wall)

Okomon: (back to flying) I think if we can’t find a way through, I could digivolve and get you guys over.

Izzy: We have to be careful, though. You need to conserve your strength just incase we run into any evil digimon.

Allison: (jokingly) Gee, Zumi, you sound like a army general or something!

Izzy: I am not Zumi!!

Maria: Just out of curiosity, where’d you come up with that?

Allison: Just say his whole name. You’ll get it.

Maria: Izzy Izumi. Izzy Izumi. Izzy…is Zumi?

Joe: (laughs out loud, Izzy glares at him, and he shuts up)

Maria: Hey, Allison! I just remembered something! I have something that looks like your crest! (takes out the tag)

Izzy: That’s the tag that the crest goes inside. It’ll glow if we get close to the crest.

Maria: Oh, good! That’ll make things a lot easier.

Allison: I want to learn more about how your special trait is able to help them digivolve. It’s sounds like combining something mental with something physical. I don’t get it.

Izzy: We haven’t quite figured out everything about digivolving, either. But, we do know that it takes more than just having the crest for them to digivolve again.

Allison: Really? What else is there?

Izzy: In past experiences, we’ve had to experience an extreme event that shows that we have that unique trait.

Joe: (flash-back to “City Under Seige”)One time, when T.K. and I were riding Ikkakumon, MegaSeadramon attacked us, and both of us were in the water. I saved T.K. from drowning, and since my crest is Reliability, it glowed, and Ikkukamon digi-volved into Zudomon. (scene goes back to normal)

Maria: Wow…

Allison: The more I hear about this whole thing the more dangerous it sounds.

Joe: Well, it can be at times. But we’ve never lost before, mainly because of our Digimon.

Izzy: I don’t where I’d be without Tentomon.

Maria: Try a vast desert with a huge wall in front of you.

Izzy: (sweat drop) Oh, yeah…

(they arrive at the wall)

Joe: It doesn’t look like there’s any way through.

Topomon: I could try to dig a hole under it!

Allison: No, you need to save your strength.

Maria: (walking up to the wall) We’ve just gotta find away through…

(Suddenly, a section of the wall begins to glow infront of her, along with her tag)

Maria: Huh?! (takes out the tag)

(The section detaches itself from the rest of the wall, shrinks to the size of a quarter, and inserts itself inside of her tag)

Joe: It’s your crest, Maria!

Maria: All right! Does this mean that Okomon can digivolve again?

Izzy: You bet!

Allison: And, we have a way through the wall! (points through the passage)

Maria: O.K., let’s start moving!

(they go through the wall, and the scene changes to Damien’s dark room again.)

Damien: I wonder how Crystal is doing with Gotsumon and Pumpkinmon. (presses key on a keyboard, and a screen lights up. It shows Crystal)

Crystal: We’ve blocked off the desert, Damien. There’s no way those kids could get across.

Damien: Blocked off? With what?

Gotsumon: (pushing Crystal off-screen) I had a bunch of my Gotsumon friends help out! We built a big wall!

Damien: (lifts an eyebrow) Oh? And do you know if they’ve been able to penetrate this wall yet?

Pumpkinmon: (pushing Gotsumon aside) There’s no way boss! That wall is solid rock! It’s also as long as the whole desert!

Crystal: (pushing them both out of the way) Anyway, now that we’ve stopped them from getting to Gennai’s house, can I go home now?!

Damien: But you haven’t captured them yet!

Crystal: Who cares? It doesn’t matter, as long as they don’t find the other digi-destined! (whining) Now I wanna go home!!

Damien: (in disgust) Fine. Come back inside.

(A door opens, and someone steps in)

Crystal: Do you have any idea what it’s like to spend a day with those two losers?

(Solomon enters)

Solomon: Back from baby-sitting the digi-goons?

Crystal: Believe me, that was worst than baby-sitting! I didn’t even get paid!!

Solomon: You will get your reward soon enough. As soon as we defeat these digi-destined, (zoom in to his face) we’ll all get our rewards…
