Episode Nine – It Was the Best of Times

TK: Last time on Digimon, Maria realized that when she was in the Digiworld, she had missed a big concert that she was going to play at. Despite her true feelings, she helped the rest of the gang to track down Kari and I in the forest. I told them about what happened to Kari, and we decided to figure a way to get into the fortress in order to get our digimon. Maria almost left her violin behind, but Okomon convinced her that she shouldn’t give up the violin because of one little mistake. When we confronted Cupidmon, Maria’s crest began to glow, and Conegamon digivolved to Psyconegamon!

(digivolving sequence: “Conegamon…digivolve to…!!!…Psyconegamon!!”)

Scene: We see Psyconegamon, floating slightly curled up in front of Maria, facing Cupidmon. Tai, Matt, Sora, Mimi, Joe, Izzy, and Allison are up near the forest, staring down in awe. We also see the in trainings, who have stopped moving around, and are gazing at the glowing Ultimate digimon below.

Koromon: What…happened?

Motimon: That Conegamon digivolved AGAIN!

Tsunomon: …Does that mean she has a digidestined partner?

Tai: All right! She did it!

Allison: Uh…could someone explain to me what just happened?

Izzy: Conegamon was successful in digivolving to the Ultimate level because Maria’s crest glowed! We can win now!

Allison: OK…well, that’s a good thing…

Cupidmon: Hmphf. I guess you’re toughing than I thought. (readies bow) Let’s see if you can handle THIS! PEIRCING SHOT!!

(Psyconegamon rapidly unravels and shoots straight up, the arrow missing her)

Maria: (gazing up, excited) Psyconegamon! Oh my GOSH, you’re too cool!!

Psyconegamon: You haven’t seen anything yet. (flies toward Cupidmon) Crescent…(the crescent on her forehead begins to glow, then shoots a beam of light toward Cupidmon) SMASH!

Cupidmon: DAAH!! (the attack hits him fully, and we hear a loud CRASH. A swirl of dust rises around where Cupidmon was)

TK: All right!!

Maria: HA! He’s history!

Psyconegamon: Not so fast…

Maria: Huh? (looks at Psyconegamon, then the cloud of dust before them)

(Silence…then we see a small dark shape shoot out of the dust)

Cupidmon: (he looks scuffed up, but he’s able to fight. He flies by flapping his heart-shaped wings fast like an insect) Was THAT the BEST you could do?

Mimi: Oh NO! That should have gotten rid of him!!

Izzy: Actually, I’m not surprised.

Kari: Huh?

Izzy: Psyconegamon’s strong, but not more so. Both Cupidmon and Psyconegamon are Ultimates. We’re gonna need some more help, unless we want to see this battle go on until someone quits.

Joe: Well, Maria sure isn’t gonna give up (all look at Maria, who has her fists raised in the air, yelling)

Maria: Come on, Psyconegamon!!!! Show him who’s boss!!!!!!!!!!

(Cupidmon is zipping around Psyconegamon, who is much larger. She stays still, and looks like she’s meditating)

Sora: What is she doing…?

Maria: Hey, did you fall asleep? We’re kinda in the middle of a battle right now…!!

Psyconegamon: (speaking into everyone’s minds but Cupidmon’s) I need to store my strength. Please, everyone. You need to help Terremotomon get up. I can’t defeat Cupidmon without her.

Allison: Terremotomon…

Matt: Yeah! That’s how we can even up the odds!! MARIA!! (yelling down to Maria) Try to wake up Terremotomon!!

Maria: I got ya!

Allison: I’ll come help!!

Matt: I don’t think so. (grabs her arm) You’re more help if you stay up here.

Allison: (blushing) OK…(Matt lets go, and all focus back on the fight. Allison begins to dance around behind everyone, excitedly whispering) He grabbed me arm, he grabbed me arm…!!

Izzy: (sweatdrop) O-keeey…

Maria: (standing next to Terremotomon) Terremotomon, wake up! We need your help! Come on!!

(Cupidmon readies an arrow)

Cupidmon: Meditation time’s over, pal. Piercing Shot!!!!

Psyconegamon: (springs awake, and dodges the arrow) Maria, hurry!

Maria: I’m doing the best I can! (turns back to Terremotomon) Come, you can take a nap AFTER you beat the bad guy! Wake UP!

(Terremotomon is still motionless, and the in-trainings in the barred window look on)

Motimon: This doesn’t look good…

Tanemon: Why won’t Terremotomon wake up? Is she OK…?

Tai: This is getting nowhere. (shouting to Maria) MARIA!! We’re coming down to help you!!

Maria: Gimme a second, OK?! (thinking) Come on, Maria, think!! Shouting isn’t working…(flashback to the in-trainings trying to get out; “Come on! Pull harder!!”… “I’m comin’ Tai!!”… “Bubble BLOW!”) Hey!! (she looks up at the window, and sees the digimon) Of course!! (yelling to Tai) You guys!! Look at that window in the fortress!! Are those digimon yours?!

(all “Huh…?”, and look up at the small window)

Mimi: (squinting) I…can’t see…

Tai: (popping out his mini-telescope) I just love this thing…(focusing…he seeing Koromon) HEY! KOROMON!!

Koromon: Huh? (sees Tai waving) TAI! TAI!!!

Tai: It’s him! It’s really him!!

Joe: Gimme that!! (snatches the mini-telescope, and focuses)…HA!! It’s them!! All our digimon are in the window!! I can even see Bukamon!!

Sora: (happy) Really?!

Mimi: (tears forming at the edges of her eyes) Tanemon’s right…over there…!!

Maria: (yelling) I need you to tell them to aim a bunch of attacks at Terremotomon to try to wake her up!!

Kari: Will do!!

TK: Hear that, Tokomon? (Tokomon perks up, with almost-teary eyes) Aim a ‘Bubble Blow’ at Terremotomon!

Izzy: You too, Motimon!

Joe: I’m counting on you Bukamon!

Matt: Tsunomon!

Mimi: You can do it Tanemon!

Sora: Yokomon!

Joe: Bukamon! Do it!

Tai: Show em’ what you’re made of, Koromon!!

Koromon: Tai…(furrows eyebrows, turns to the rest of the digimon) Ready, guys?!

All: Mm-hm!!

Salamon: (to Tokomon) After you!

(back to Cupidmon and Psyconegamon’s battle. Psyconegamon is flying around, never taking her eyes off Cupidmon, who is shooting arrows but not making any contact.)

Psyconegamon: (thinking) Hurry, Maria!(suddenly we hear Tokomon yell “Bubble blow! PAH!”, and Psyconegamon looks down to see three or four bubbles smack Terremotomon in the head) That’s it! Keep it coming, everyone! (goes back to Cupidmon)

Bukamon: Bubble blow!!

Tanemon: Bubble blow!!!

Yokomon: Bubble BLOW!!

(all three attacks hit Terremotomon, who begins to groan and shift around a little)

Izzy: It’s working!! Keep going, you guys!!

Motimon: Bubble BLOW!

Tsunomon: BUBBLE BLOW!

(both hit, and Terremotomon turns over on her back, still asleep)

Tai: Make it count, Koromon! SHOT!!

Koromon: Bubble…BLOW!!!

(the bubbles smack Terremotomon in the face)

Maria: Terremotomon, WAKE UP!!

(silence…then Terremotomon’s eyes jolt open)

Terremotomon: (sitting up) Huh? Hey, who hit me in the face?!

Koromon: (shouting to the digimon below) Sorry, but we kinda need some help!

Terremotmon: (looks up at the two flying battling digimon) Is that Conegamon? She…digivolved!!

Maria: Yeah, but she still needs your help. Are you up for it?

Allison: (yelling) You can so it, Terremotomon!

Terremotomon: (standing, poised and ready to fight) Let’s do this puppy!!

Cupidmon: (sees Terremotomon) Hm? AAH! You were supposed to be unconscious!!

Psyconegamon: Terremotomon! AAH! (Cupidmon’s arrow hits her right between her wings, and begins to fall)

Joe: AH!!

Maria: (split-screen with Joe) Psyconegamon!!

Terremotomon: Fury Twister!!!! (she begins to spin rapidly, causing a tornado. Psyconegamon’s fall slows to a stop)

Allison: Hey! I didn’t know she could do that!

Cupidmon: Hmphf, neither could I. (dive-bombs Psyconegamon)

Psyconegamon: (spreads wings and gets out of tornado) Thanks, Terremotomon!

Terremotomon: (stops spinning) Look OUT!

Cupidmon: (turning into a comet) Meteor Smash!!

Psyconegamon: Crescent Smash!!! (the attack hits Cupidmon, who stops half-way to Psyconegamon)

Cupidmon: AAH! (attack fades, Cupidmon’s wings buzz even faster) Oooh…are you always this vexing?!

Allison: Huh…?

Izzy: He means annoying.

Allison: (folds arms in a huff) Well…I knew that!!

Cupidmon: It’s time I got rid of you for good. (ball of energy forms in his hand) The Dark Triad will be soooo proud!!

Terremotomon: Psyconegamon! Are you ready?

Psyconegamon: Ready!

Cupidmon: (the ball is growing larger than himself, and he holds it over his head with two hands) Passionate CORE!!!! (throws the ball of energy at Conegamon)

Terremotomon: Rolling Spikes!! (she jumps straight up, and begins spinning rapidly toward Cupidmon’s attack. She hits it and bounces it off course.

Cupidmon: Eh?

Psyconegamon: (begins flying in a circle up-and-down) Ancient…(the balls at the end of her tail begin to glow and create a trail. She forms one big hoop of golden light, about the size of Magnagemon’s Gate of Destiny. She spins faster and faster) …Sphere!!!! (the hoop shoots forward, right at Cupidmon)

Cupidmon: AIEEE!!!!!! (the light completely dissolves Cupidmon, the entire moat is filled with light. Terremotomon lands on the ground in the moat and looks back up)

Terremotomon: Accomplished. (de-digivolves to Topomon)

Psyconegamon: (slows spinning, then stops, and just floats) Thank you Topomon.

Topomon: Don’t mention it!

Allison: Topomon!! (sliding down the side of the moat)

Tai: (waits a minute…then says) Aw, heck, I’ve always wanted to do this! (starts to slide down the moat surfer-style)

Izzy: (packs up laptop) Let’s go! (skids down the moat, and everyone follows)

Maria: (laughing and watching them all coming) Guys! We did it!

Allison: (holding Topomon) Don’t forget Psyconegamon!

Maria: (giggles, and looks up)

Psyconegamon: I have one thing left to do.

Koromon: Psyconegamon! Could you help us get out?

Psyconegamon: (floating over) It’d be my pleasure. Stand back, now. (all the digimon disappear from sight) Crescent Smash! (the attack blasts a hole in the wall, and when the dust clears, the in-trainings jump forward)

Tai: Koromon!

Koromon: Oh, man, I feel so excited I might burst!! (jumps forward toward Tai) Koromon digivolve to…Agumon!!

Tsunomon: Tsunomon digivolve to…Gabumon!!

Yokomon: Yokomon digivolve to…Biyomon!!

Motimon: Motimon digivolve to…Tentomon!!

Tanemon: Tanemon digivolve to…Palmon!!

Bukamon: Bukamon digivolve to…Gomamon!!

Tokomon: Tokomon digivolve to…Patamon!!

Salamon: Salamon digivolve to…Gatomon!!

(all land in their owner’s arms, laughing and weeping from joy)

Kari: Gatomon, how are you?!

Gatomon: (wiping away a tear) I’m doing just great, now!!

TK: (hugging Patamon) Patamon…I kept my promise…

Patamon: I’m back TK!

Palmon: Mimi! It’s really you!!!!

Mimi: (crying) Oh, Palmon!!!! I’m so glad you’re heeeeeere!!!!!

Sora: Biyomon! (hugging Biyomon) I missed you so much!

Biyomon: (hugging back) Not as much as I missed you!!

Matt: (crying) Gabumon…

Gabumon: It’s great to see you again, Matt…

Agumon: Tai, you’re here!!!

Tai: (tears on his face, but he’s grinning) You better believe it, buddy.

Gomamon: (running into Joe’s arms) Joe!!

Joe: (laughing and crying) Gomamon, I’m back!!!

Tentomon: (buzzing over to Izzy) Izzy? Is that you?

Izzy: (catching his digimon, tears rolling down his face, smiling) That’s right, Tento.

(Amid all the crying and hugging, Maria, Allison, and Topomon stand on the side-lines. Psyconegamon floats down and de-digivolves to Savumon)

Savumon: (falling on top of Maria’s head) Oof!

Maria: (catching her) Huh? Savumon!

Savumon: Being an Ultimate takes a lot of energy.

Mimi: (smiling, looks over at Tai) Tai, are you gonna be OK?

Tai: (looks up with tears still on his face) Definitely.

Gomamon: Hey Joe, who’s that? (motioning to Maria and Allison)

Joe: Hm? Oh! (walks over to Maria and Allison holding Gomamon) Gomamon, I’d like you to meet my friend Maria.

Gomamon: (raising up a paw) Hiya!

Maria: Nice to meet you! This is your digimon, Joe?

Joe: That’s right! Gomamon and I go way ba-

Maria (interrupts him and grabs Gomamon, holding him at arms length) He’s adorable!!!

Joe: (holding up his empty hands) Huh…?

Gomamon: Haaa! She thinks I’m cute!

Maria: (starts hugging him) He’s just so cuddly I could just hold him all day!!!!

Joe: (sweatdrop) Um, I don’t think that’s necessary…

Allison: (giggles) I bet Joe wishes he were Gomamon right now…

Joe: (runs over and clamps his hand over Allison’s mouth) SSH!!!!!

Tentomon: And who is that that Joe is restraining?

Allison: (flings Joe’s hand off) Er-hm!!! My name’s Allison. Nice to meet y’all!

Patamon: (sitting on TK’s head) Are both of you digidestined?

Maria: Yeah! We got digivices the night before we came here, and we have crests, too! Oh! (picks up Savumon) I also have Savumon!

Savumon: Good to meet you.

Gabumon: I was very impressed with your battling skills.

Palmon: Yeah, and thanks for busting us out!

Topomon: What am I, invisible?

Allison: Of course not! This is my new friend, Topomon.

Biyomon: Hi!

Agumon: We owe you for helping out, too! Thanks!

Topomon: Don’t mention it!

Izzy: (hears a bird cawing in the distance) Uh-oh. We better get out of hear before the Saberdramon find us.

Savumon: I’d love to help, but I’m still pooped out from that battle.

Biyomon: Don’t you worry!

Patamon: We can help out.

Tentomon: Flying’s our specialty!

(digivolving sequence… “Biyomon!…digivolve…to…!!!!…Birdramon!!”… “Patamon digivolve…to!!…Angemon!!”…“Tentomon digivolve…to…Kabuterimon!!”)

Allison: Wow!!

Maria: Those must be Tentomon’s, Biyomon’s, and Patamon’s champion forms!

Kabuterimon: Need a lift?

Birdramon: I’m raring to go!

Angemon: I have a maximum weight limit of 200 pounds.

Scene: Angemon, Birdramon, and Kabuterimon flying over the dessert with the digidestined.

Kari: (holding Salamon) Why does Angemon have to carry ME?

TK: (shouting back from Kabuterimon’s back) You’re the lightest of all of us!

(all the boys are on Kabuterimon, and the other four girls are riding Birdramon, two girls on each leg)

Sora: Oh, wow…I haven’t done this in four years…

Maria: (holding Savumon) Sora, you’re not going to cry again, are you?

Sora: (giggles) No, I’m fine.

Mimi: (holding Palmon) I’ve never felt so happy…Palmon, let’s never separate again, OK?

Palmon: Sounds good to me!

Allison: (holding Topomon, smiling at her friends)

Kabuterimon: Oof…you guys have gained weight, that’s for sure.

Izzy: Well, it’s been four years. We’re bound to have grown.

Gomamon: So, Joe…what’s your relationship with Maria right now?

Joe: WHA?!

Tai: Hoo, boy, here we go…

Agumon: Hm?

Matt: Yeah, Joe, tell us! What’s your status right now? ‘Just friends’? Gimme a break!

Gabumon: I think I’m missing something here…

Joe: (blushing) What do YOU care who I study with, anyway?

Gomamon: Ooooh…I get it. You’re ‘study’ partners…

Joe: WHAT ARE YOU IMPLYING?!

TK: I’m sure glad I don’t have to worry about stuff like that, Gabumon.

Gabumon: That’s for sure… (as TK looks back at Kari)

(the three flying digimon disappear into the horizon)
