Information About Us

  • Who We Are:
The Anime Club seeks to educate and expose students to various aspects of asian culture and art styles through an animated medium. The Japanese form of animation, otherwise known as 'Anime' has finally emerged in America, taking root in mainstream entertainment. It has raised the bar for animated feature films -- and has changed the American perspective on cartoons. Students who bear witness to this change, and are intrigued by it, use this club as a forum for making new friends and breaking the 'barriers' that exist between different grade levels.
  • What We Do:
Members attend meetings on a regular basis to watch, talk, and think about anime. However, the club is not only limited to those few things. Other highlights include drawing contests, caption contests, cosplay, and card tournaments. Community service options involve environmental clean-up projects, bake sales, and donations to other non-profit charity organizations.

  • Why You Should Care:
Anime Club is one of those rare clubs at Punahou, whose first (and seemingly, only) priority is recreation. Grade distributions of our members are represented fairly well, and each person involved is treated as an individual. You don't have to be super strong, or a brainiac, or a talented artist to join. All you have to do, is like anime. Our theory is: "The more people, the better the party." So, if you are unable to attend every meeting -- don't worry! Come whenever your schedule permits.

      New members are always welcome!
