Byakko
Story: One of the Four Gods of Fate, Byakko, the Western White Tiger God, watches over all humanity and mysticdom. He looks like a child and watches over Rei and becomes interested in her plight after Kyasku takes her through his shrine. He then decides to help Rei as a friend and see what happens when Fate doesn't interfere and one is allowed to see what they can do with their life. He has no idea what humans are like and wishes to understand them.

Type: General fighter/magic user. Another character a lot like Rei, although more of a magic user than fighter. Wonderful defense spells and a Berserk Spell make him very handy in battle. His Byakko's Blessing attack, heals and casts life to the whole party.

My Take: Stern and curious, he has no idea what it's like to be human. He struggles to learn about sarcasm and anger and other emotions humans express. He is dedicated to his role in the world, but recently has begun to question if it's necessary or even real.

Creation: Byakko was one of the characters I worried about, since he came so late in the game, I really wouldn't get a chance to develop him enough. I tried hard to do so in the Seiryu Shrine side quest. Whenever he talked, I made sure to include as much personality as possible. I used the four Chinese gods because I was really inspired by the mange/anime Fushugi Yugi, one of the best I must say. Another thing was that, if he is a God, can he get hurt and die? Well, he is in a mortal body so yes to both questions. However, should he die, his soul just becomes an immortal God again with knowledge of all that has happened. He also doesn't have the power of a God because no mortal body can hold that much power.
