No Need For Tenchi Series 2 - Sword Play

Issues: 1-7

When the last series left off, Washu with the injured Ryoko head back to earth. Tenchi, Washu, Mihoshi, and the injured Ryoko decide to leave for Yakage. Meanwhile Yakage is wondering where Minagi has run off to when he falls to the floor. He tells himself that he can't die. (Suspecting that he is one old Jurian, and he seems to be actually dying of old age.)

Ryoko interferes Minagi's fight with Yakage, claiming that it was her fight to begin with. When Ryoko and Tenchi arrive on Yakage's ship, they run into Minagi who tells them to go home, and that she'll rescue Ayeka. Ryoko, who is able to read Minagi's thoughts goes after her. Minagi catches up with Yakage and wants to fight him, knowing that fighting will return her memory. Ryoko intervenes, with Minagi begging her to stop. Yakage then takes Ryoko as yet another captive, and makes it so the force shields holding them will shrink, and eventually enclose on them, unless he is killed. Minagi continues to fight, and just when her memory has returned, Yakage hits her with a supposed death blow. When Tenchi arrives, it’s too late.

Ryoko interferes to try save Tenchi's life. Isn't it just so romantic? Tenchi and Yakage battle it out, when Washu interupts. She snuck into Yakages data base and learns that he's been copying himself for millenia after millenia, and that this current copy is dying. She was also just about to tell everyone that Minagi is his daughter when he cuts her transmission and Yakage and Tenchi continue to battle. Yakage seems to be getting the better of Tenchi, and to Yakage’s shock, Ryoko breaks through the shield and jumps in to save him. Just then Tenchi's Light Hawk Wings appear and the battle continues. Similar to the battle with Kagato, Tenchi makes a death blow to Yakage, and he dies. But Yakage dies happy, with honor. He reveals that Minagi really is his daughter, but regrets not being able to create the perfect sword for her. Washu obtains some DNA from Minagi and finds out that she is made from Yakage and Ryoko. Apparently when Yakage was a student of Washu, he stole some of Ryoko's DNA and combinded it with his own, using it to create Minagi. So, technically Minagi is the daughter of Ryoko. Obviously, Ryoko is then freaked out and upset for learning that Minagi is her daughter. Ryoko is relieved that Minagi will live after all, so Sasami won't have to be sad. Washu says that Minagi is going to be fine, and with Yakage's death, Ayeka is free. Back on earth, Tenchi and the gang get a message from Minagi saying that she's going to be a space pirate like her mother, the way Yakage would want it to be. And she’s happy to say that all her targets will be bad cargo ships and bad government officers’ ships. The rest of the series ends with a lighter tone.

Tenchi happens to catch a cold after a fight he has with the girls in the hot springs. So Ryoko and Ayeka try to out cook each other for Tenchi. When Ayeka finally makes a decent meal, Tenchi learns that Mihoshi has gotten sick too and feeds Ayeka's food to Mihoshi.

The last episode of the series features Mishoshi trying to get a driver’s license to help with the shopping for the house. Ryoko can't believe that Mihoshi will ever do it and makes a bet, with the loser doing the dishes for a month. Well, as you can guess it, by some luck Mihoshi mangages to get her license after she saves the chief of police's daughter, and he gives it to her with his thanks. Ryoko also had to wash all the dishes for a month. ^_^
