Issues: 1-6
This Series is actually broken down three ways. In the first issue, the group decides to take a picnic up in the mountains. You get to see a very humorous scene with mushrooms. Sasami finds some mushrooms for Tenchi and naturally, Ryoko and Ayeka now try to do the same to impress him. Unforutnaly, Ryoko picks poisonous ones, and Ayeka picks deadly ones. (Good for you Ayeka, ha ha ha). While they sit down for their picnic, Sasami and Ryo-ohki head off to explore. Ryoko then goes to look for her and can't find her, assuming that Sasami went home.
Back at the house, Sasami is still nowhere to be found and the girls learn from the TV that there is a lost wolf from the zoo in the mountains. After the girls learn what a wolf is.... they freak and run back to the mountains to find Sasami. In the mountains Sasami finds the wolf, befriends it, and fixes it's broken leg. (what a girl) Unfortunalty Sasami falls down a cliff and gets knocked out. Now the girls and Tenchi are back in the mountains looking for Sasami. There's a slight break in the story when Ryoko and Washu start discussing how the comic is so much like to OVA series, and how Tsumani is due for an appearance, then Ayeka makes them come back to their senses.
The girls eventually run into Sasami's wolf. They notice the splint that Sasami made and ask the wolf where Sasami is. "Lassie, where's Sasami....she's hurt? We better hurry." The wolf leads the group to Sasami, but now hunters are on the wolf’s tail. Sasami doesn't want the wolf hurt, so... the group puts on a "show". Mihoshi pretends that she is being chased by the wolf, the hunters see the wolf and shoot it... the wolf then falls off a cliff. The hunters leave, but... it was all a hoax and Sasami's wolf is fine. The Ryo-ohki’s play the wolf, and Ryoko catches the bullet right before it hits. They let the wolf go free.
The second issue starts out as a normal day at the Misaki house when...this girl shows up, jumps on Tenchi, and says she's come to marry him like he promised. You learn that this is Hiwa, Tenchi’s childhood friend who's come to visit, but Tenchi hasn't seen her in years and wonders why all of a sudden she shows up.
Hiwa hangs around the house for a while making Ayeka and Ryoko nuts, and eventually is confronted by Washu. Washu has discovered that Hiwa isn't real, she's a ghost. Washu learns that Hiwa was in a car accident and is in a hospital in critical condition. Hiwa was thinking about Tenchi as she layed in the hospital bed and remembered how happy she was with him, and that's why her "ghost" came to see Tenchi before she died. Washu is upset that she sees no way of saving Hiwa's life. But agrees to do Hiwa a favor.
Back at the house Ryoko is still freaking out over Hiwa, but Ayeka is not. Ayeka feels that Hiwa is hiding something. Ryoko starts to ponder this and remebers Hiwa and Tenchi playing outside of the Misaki shrine when they were children. Washu then tells the girls to meet her and Hiwa up by Ryoko's rock. Washu then proceeds to club Ryoko and Ayeka in the back up of head, knocking the out, and hooks up some kind of machine.
Now Ayeka starts having a dream about her parents coming back down to earth and telling her that Tenchi is not from Jurai after all and that she has to go home. But Ayeka loves Tenchi too much and doesn't care, so she goes against her parents’ wishes and stays with Tenchi anyway.
Ryoko dreams that she is going on a date with Tenchi, but she had to promise not to use her powers. On her way to meet up with Tenchi, she comes across a pregnant woman in need of her help. At first, Ryoko is reluctant because she is in a rush and can’t use her powers to fly, but feels bad and decides to help her and calls an ambulance to take her to the hospital, then continues on her way to see Tenchi. She finally meets up with him, but hears on the news how the downtown traffic is at a stand-still and decides to leave to help that pregnant woman to the hospital herself. But Tenchi scolds her for wanting to use her powers and says he'll never go out with her again if she does. Ryoko then slaps Tenchi and says if that’s how he feels, then it’s his loss. With this, Ayeka and Ryoko wake up.
It was all a test for Hiwa to see how much they truely loved Tenchi. With this, Hiwa felt it was okay to die knowing that they both loved Tenchi so much. But now Sasami has an idea. Sasami goes to sleep and Tsumani goes to Hiwa's hospital and brings Hiwa back to life. With this, Washu is glad to explain that sometimes you need a happy ending, with Ryoko still being pissed off about the whole ordeal.
The third part is actually kind of weird because the characters take on different roles. Sasami is a fourth grader, and is secretly the Magical Girl Pretty Sammy, with Tenchi being her brother. Ryoko and Ayeka are high school students, who are obviously, still totally in love with Tenchi. Washu is a genious (of course) who graduated when she was eleven, and is currently working as a science teacher at Tenchi’s high school. Mihoshi and Kiyone are employees at Sasami and Tenchi’s mother’s CD shop. In the story, Tenchi discovers Sasami’s secret, and is freaked out about it. Ryoko and Ayeka continue to pester him, but are given pretty small roles this story. Meanwhile, Sasami has to deal with her rival, Pixie Misa, and keep her alter-ego a secret. She is given the part as Sammy in the school play, and during the performance, Pixie Misa intervenes. Sasami eventually saves the day, and with the help of Tsunami, nobody knows who she really is.
