PSO Episodes I, II & III Information Stone Island - The Real People |
A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away... Okay, not really, for starters, if it was a long time ago then why would we have laser swords rather than metal ones? We don't have laser swords now! But a galaxy far far away... maybe, I'd have to find Ragol first though to be sure. Right, hang on, I'll go out and come back in. In the year 2001, a game appeared that would change the way console gamers saw things, it allowed people from all over the world to interact through a console, not a PC. The first online console RPG was born, and man, was it good. Within the first week or so of the Dreamcast servers being up, two characters - Namely Pumpkin and TopCat, friends offline, decided to put their heads together and create a regular team to play in. They named the team Stone Island, after a clothes brand that they both wore. And so, Stone Island's first incarnation was born. I met Pumpkin in the Caves very early on in the clan's life, in a non-clan game and we became friends. The next time I went online, I looked through the list of games in play, and a team name caught my eye - Stone Island. I looked at who was playing and found Pumpkin was there, with a man called TopCat. I thought about what I was letting myself in for briefly before mailing Pumpkin for the password. Me and TopCat hit it off quickly as well, and so I joined their games as often as I could, and became the first member (apart from the founders) of Stone Island. We all had many happy times together, and several other people joined the clan, we often all got online at the same time and had to vote for who we wanted to make a team with. Things were great, and I was enjoying this new online experience more and more over the months until...
Not too long after, Pumpkin returned, with Beers and Tabs, a sub-faction of the clan which was composed of nollers and such. This group became the protectors of Stone Island, and would go after any player that messed with us. A welcome asset in the ever growing dangerous world of PSO hackers. The clan grew again, but its new life was short, similar circumstances brought us apart, and it ended with me, all alone bar occasional visits from TC. I attempted to deal with the clan's premature demise over the next few weeks, but playing PSO wasn't the same without having a group of people you liked and trusted to help you battle the creatures of Ragol. Action had to be taken, for my enjoyment of the game was withering rapidly. But what could I do? I could hardly demand the other players come back... I decided there was only one thing I could do, frantically search my guild cards for people who I remembered having a good game with... Well, people
started losing interest, and there were some
misunderstandings within the clan. Thus Pumpkin formed
the ill fated "Juice Crew", and several other
clan members vanished. The remaining members of our
tattered clan kept playing, but it was a shadow of what
we once had.
