For those of you in need of something new to
read, here is the
beginning
of the new story. As the name projects, this one is quite
darker
than the others although I don't think it can be as dark as
Tournament...that
one was just downright depressive, so was
Confession
for that matter.... Anyway, the story opens at the Supreme
Kai's
realm with Loren impatiently waiting for him...
Loren
sat on the bench with her hands folded. Why couldn't Trunks
have
come along? It wasn't fair. She gazed around the room and
sighed
in boredom. There was nothing around for her to amuse herself
with.
"Good.
You're here," Shin said as he stepped into the room.
"Why
couldn't he come?" Loren asked.
"They
need to use this time to train."
"Why?"
"If
you would let me explain, you would know."
"I'm
sorry."
"It's
all right. Please, just be quiet and listen."
Loren
sat down and gazed at him. He sighed as he watched her
bored
facial expression. He wished that she didn't get bored so
easily.
"Something
is coming," he said and she looked at him.
"What?"
she asked.
"I
don't know but numerous worlds under me have caught some
sort
of disease. The symptoms reported were exactly the same for each
world."
"What
does this have to do with me?"
"I'd
like you to visit these worlds and see if you can find
out
anything."
"Can...?"
"No."
"Why
not?"
"If
you'll take him, he'll only be vulnerable. You have to go
alone.
You're the only one that's not limited like the rest of us
are."
"But
it's been so long since I've been alone."
"You'll
be fine. You're the only one that can do this. Is
your
ship still functional?"
"I
don't know."
"Get
it checked out. Here's a list of the planets I'd like
you to
visit."
She
took the piece of paper from his hand and stood up. She
turned
to face the window and stared out at a large rock. It was a
piece
of the planet she had landed on so many years ago. Images
flooded
her mind. Images of people she did not know. Images of pain
and
suffering. Images of darkness. She fell to the floor and shook
her
head in an attempt to drive the images from her mind. A feeling
of
dread filled her body. A feeling that somehow she would lose more
than
what she was willing to lose.
"Loren..."
"I
can't do it. I can't. I don't know how to be normal. Why?
Why
must I go through it again?" she asked aloud.
"What's
wrong?" Shin asked as Loren sat up and blinked her
eyes.
"Why
did you send for me?"
"I
just told you."
"You
did?"
"Yes.
Loren, are you all right?"
"Yes.
Why?"
"You
said something about being normal."
"I
did?"
"Yes.
What did you mean by it?"
"I
don't know what you're talking about."
"Yes
you do."
"No
I don't."
"Please.
Tell me what's going to happen."
"I
don't know."
"What's
going to happen to you?"
"I
don't know."
"You
will be able to look into this, won't you?"
"I
said I would. I'd better start on my way back. He's
probably
worried about me."
The
Supreme Kai watched her leave and sighed. Something in
that
rock had spoken to her and she didn't like the decision.
Something
was going to happen to break her and he wished that there
was
something that he could do but it appeared that this was a battle
that
she would have to fight on her own.
The second part to the new story. Figured I'd
post it now since I
don't
know when I'll be back on here...Don't know how to summarize
this
one. Just read it.
"Hello
dear. How was your visit?" Bulma asked as Loren walked into
the
kitchen. She sat down and Bulma shut off the tap. She walked
over
to the table and sat across from Loren.
"What's
wrong dear?"
"My
ship has to be repaired," Loren replied.
"You
mean, you have to leave?"
"How
can I tell him that? I don't want to leave and Shin
won't
let me take him."
"Calm
down dear. I'm sure he'll understand."
"But
I promised that I wouldn't leave. I can't break my
promise.
You saw what happened when I tried."
"What
about the Supreme Kai?"
"Shin
doesn't control me. I don't have to do this."
"Loren
are you sure?"
"What
good is my presence in this universe if I don't keep my
promises?"
Loren asked as she stood up. Her eyes grew wide as a
glowing
figure appeared in front of her. She involuntarily switched
to her
natural form and knelt before the figure.
"It
is time, young one. Since the beginning of time, your
spirit
has had to be cleansed to keep your body pure. Again, your
powers
will be temporarily limited. For a short time, you will again
know
what it is like to be a mortal," the figure said and pointed a
hand
at her. She wavered and Bulma stood up and caught her. Her
nails
dug into Loren's skin and she gasped in shock as Loren began to
bleed.
"Mother!
What happened?" Trunks asked as he walked into the
kitchen.
"I'm
not exactly sure but look," Bulma said and pointed to a
crimson
trail that ran down Loren's arm.
"She's
bleeding. How...?"
"I
don't know. Let's get her to bed. I'm going to examine
her."
"What
good will that do? She's not human."
"She's
bleeding. Somehow, she's lost her immortality."
"What?!
Why?"
"I
don't know."
"Then
that means...that's she's like the rest of us. She can
feel
pain. She can...die."
"She's
always been able to feel pain honey but I think I know
what
you mean. Before, her pain was limited to mental injuries. Now
she
can be physically injured as well."
"Let
me take her Mother."
"What's
going on?" Vegeta asked as Trunks carried her out of
the
kitchen.
"We
don't know. She's stopped bleeding honey," Bulma said as
Trunks
laid Loren on the couch.
"She's
different Mother. It's like a part of her was taken
away,"
Trunks said as he took Loren's hand.
"Just
stay with her. Perhaps we aren't meant to understand
this
one."
"I
don't know what you're talking about. What's wrong with
the
girl?" Vegeta demanded.
"Father,
please. Don't be so loud," Trunks said as Loren
stirred.
She opened her eyes and Trunks ran his fingers through her
hair.
"How
are you dear?" Bulma asked and Loren looked in her
direction.
She frowned as she tried to think of a response.
"Honey,
did you hear Mother?"
Loren
blinked her eyes as she tried to answer. She felt
partially
there. She found her awareness of the universe slipping as
she
tried to grasp on to something lasting.
"You
usually run to her side when she's in danger," Vegeta
said
as Piccolo appeared in the doorway.
"I
believe this is a cycle. She got like this once when we
were
playing in the stream as children. She practically drowned but
Rion
rescued her and put her to bed," the Namek said.
"How
long was she like this?" Trunks asked as he brought her
hand
to his chest.
"Weeks."
"Are
you all right honey?" Bulma asked as trunks tightly
clasped
Loren's hand. He gazed at Loren and sighed. He couldn't
understand
what was going on but he wished that it was over.
"So
you can't do anything," Vegeta said.
"No
I can't," Piccolo replied.
"So
where does this leave me?" Trunks asked.
"I
leaves you with extra time for the training room," Vegeta
said
as Ridel climbed up onto the couch and licked Loren's leg.
"I'm
afraid that's not going to wake her up," Trunks said as
he set
the dog on the floor.
"Why
don't I take her back with me? She's a distraction
here,"
Piccolo said.
"That's
probably the best thing for her," Bulma said as
Trunks
watched Piccolo pick Loren up. He frowned as he walked past
Vegeta
and out of the house. Trunk said nothing as he stood up and
walked
past his parents. Vegeta laid a hand on his son's shoulder.
Trunks
glanced at him and Vegeta smirked.
"I
know I'm not on the same level as the girl but I'm here,"
he
said and Trunks nodded his head.
"Thank
you Father. I know that I'm going to need your help. I
think
there was a reason why she was put out of action," Trunks said
as he
unbuttoned his shirt. He took it off and laid it on a chair.
"You
put that in the wash mister," Bulma commended and Trunks
glanced
at her.
"All
right Mother. I'll take car of it on my way out."
"He's
extremely upset, isn't he?"
"They
both were," Vegeta replied.
"What's
going to happen to her?" Bulma asked.
"I
don't know."
"I
know that you all are sensing something. Now what is it?"
"I'm
not sure. Obviously there was a reason why the Supreme
Kai
summoned the girl. Now that she's useless I bet whatever the
reason
the Supreme Kai summoned her will come for us."
"What
do you mean?"
"I'm
going to see if the others are getting the same
feelings.
Watch the boy. You know how he gets when something's
happened
to her. With the way she is now, he could very easily
destroy
that room."
"Why
do you two have to be so stubborn?"
Vegeta
said nothing as he walked out of the house. There had
been
something in the Namek's glare that had made him apprehensive
about
the future. Something was going to happen.
An epidemic? What's going on here? No one
really knows yet...
A dark
shape crossed the sky and the Namek's ears twitched.
Something
was coming. He gazed at Loren whose pallor seemed to pale
and
sighed. She gagged and Piccolo gazed at her. Her entire body
was
pale. Even her hair had lost its color. Something was
different
from the last time she had gotten like this. He shook her
and
frowned when he got no response. He turned and walked out of
the
room.
"Please
keep an eye on her," he said to Dende and took off.
He
visibly shivered as he flew down towards Goku's. Something had
affected
Loren. He wondered if any others had been affected.
"So
you felt something too," the Namek commented as he met
up
with Vegeta.
"How's
the girl?" Vegeta inquired.
"Not
good. She's extremely pale."
"What
do you mean?"
"Have
you felt anything? When I came down here, I felt a
cold
chill on my back."
"No.
I haven't felt anything."
"This
worries me. She was practically choking when I left.
I'm
afraid she's caught a disease of some sort."
"She
doesn't get sick."
"I
know. That's what bothers me. If she can get sick, then
where
does that leave the rest of us?"
"Perhaps
Kakarot has a suggestion though I may be expecting
too
much from a lower-class clown."
"I'd
like to go to Gohan's first. He's closer."
"What
kind of city is this? The streets are littered with
bodies,"
Vegeta said as they landed in the city. He gazed at the
city
life, which seemed to have just recently stopped and frowned.
"They
all look how she did. Come on. We have to see if
they're
all right."
"Kakarot's
child is not going to be brought down by a
disease."
Piccolo
knocked on the door and Videl opened it. She gazed
at the
Namek for a moment then allowed them to come inside.
"Where's
Gohan?" Piccolo asked.
"Out
back with Pan. What's wrong?" Videl asked.
"Get
him for us."
"An
entire city is down. How long will it take before it
reaches
us?" Vegeta asked as Gohan walked into the room.
"Hey
guys. Did you feel it too?" Gohan asked.
"Loren
is down and this entire city has caught whatever ails
her,"
Piccolo said.
"Let's
go. Kakarot needs to know of this if he doesn't know
already,"
Vegeta said as Gohan ushered them out of the house.
"Look
at all these people. What's wrong with them?" Gohan
asked.
"They're
sick. We may be faced with an epidemic," Piccolo
replied.
"Where's
Trunks?"
"Training,"
Vegeta said.
"Does
he know about her condition?" Gohan asked.
"No."
"It's
probably for the best. I know how upset he gets when
something
is wrong with her."
"He's
stubborn," Piccolo said.
"He's
not the only stubborn Saiyen out there."
"Bite
your tongue boy!" Vegeta snapped.
"What's
going to happen when he does find out?"
"I'd
rather not think about his reaction," Piccolo replied.
"I
see your point. I'll be glad to see him again. How was
his
trip to America?"
"They
got banned," Vegeta replied.
"How
did she manage that?" Gohan asked.
"Animals
in the zoo are not meant to be set free."
"I
see. That's kind of funny."
"I
think what really got them in trouble is what she did at
the police
station."
"What
did she do?"
"All
he said was that he now knows that she doesn't like
being
locked up."
"That
statement worries me."
"Would
you expect anything less from Loren?" Piccolo asked.
"No,
I guess not," Gohan replied.
"Why
does she have to be so childish?" Vegeta asked.
"It's
the way she is. No one can change that."
"I
wish someone could."
"Here
we are. I hope Dad's home," Gohan said as they landed.
"Where
else would Kakarot be?" Vegeta asked.
"Hey
Mom, is Dad in?"
"Good,
you're okay. How is everyone else?" Chi-chi asked as
Gohan
and the others walked into the living room.
"What
do you mean?" Gohan asked.
"I
should have known you all didn't come here for a social
visit.
Where are you taking him this time?" Chi-chi demanded.
"Look,
all I went is a confirmation. I don't think any of us
knows
exactly what it is."
"Hey
guys. I'm assuming you guys felt it too?" Goku asked
as he
walked into the room.
"Why
else would I be here?" Vegeta asked and Goku shrugged
his
shoulders.
"I
don't know. Maybe you came for a visit."
"I
don't do social calls, Kakarot."
"So
where's your group Vegeta?"
"Where's
Goten, Dad?" Gohan asked.
"Oh,
he's at school," Goku replied.
"But
if everyone in the city is sick..."
"The
boy is training and the girl is ill," Vegeta said and
Goku
looked at him.
"What?"
he asked.
"Loren
is sick," Piccolo said.
"But...I
thought she couldn't get sick."
"She
can't."
"Then
how...?"
"I
don't know but if she can become ill, it makes me wonder
about
the rest of us."
"Yeah...I'd
wonder too. Didn't she go talk to the Supreme
Kai?"
"Yes."
"What
did he say?"
"I
don't know. She went straight home after that talk."
"Do
you know anything Vegeta?"
"All
I know was they were both in a panic over her when I
came
into the house," Vegeta replied.
"Gee.
I guess we'll have to go talk to Bulma then. Maybe she
knows
something," Goku said.
"We're
going to have to inform Trunks of her condition,"
Piccolo
said.
"Should
we go get Krillin?" Gohan asked.
"If
you want. I'd like to gain an idea of what happened to
her.
Apparently something attacked her system while she was in her
most
vulnerable state."
"I
thought she was invulnerable," Goku said.
"Immortal
Goku. She can feel pain, both mentally and
physically.
That's why she's run off so many times. People would
hurt
her feelings when they didn't mean to. The closest that I can
surmise
is that her spirit was taken to be cleansed by her people.
With
her powers severely limited, whatever the Supreme Kai had sent
for
her to check out chose that time to attack. Why I don't
understand
is why none of us have gotten the sickness."
"So
you're saying something is behind this illness."
"How
can you be so dense Kakarot?" Vegeta asked.
"I'm
not dense," Goku said.
"Don't
start arguing. We're going to have to work together
on
this one," Piccolo said.
"I
hope she gets over whatever she has," Chi-chi said.
"We
all hope that."
"Well,
lets get going if we're going," Goku said.
Trunks is informed of the situation, need I say
more?
"What's
everyone doing here?" Bulma asked as she stood up.
"Get
the boy out of the training room," Vegeta said.
"Boy
all this flying has made me hungry," Goku said.
"You
can check the kitchen but I'm not making any promises.
Having
two of them in the house again really lowers the food
reserve,"
Bulma said.
"That's
kind of why I moved out," Gohan said as Goku walked
into
the kitchen.
"I'm
just lucky that Loren doesn't eat."
"You
mean he's lucky."
"Because
that means more food for him?"
"Well...yeah."
"What's
everyone doing here? I just came to get a drink,"
Trunks
said as he walked into the room mopping his forehead with a
towel.
"Honey..."
Bulma said as Trunks looked at her.
"What's
wrong?"
"Sit
down dear."
"What's
wrong with Loren?"
"She's
sick."
"What?"
"Loren
is sick."
"How?"
"I
don't know honey."
"Where
is she?"
"Dende
is watching her. She isn't the only one with the
illness.
A lot of cities have already caught it," Piccolo said.
"Are
you serious?" Trunks asked.
"Yes."
"Do
we know what's causing it?"
"No."
"So
how come we haven't been affected?"
"Because
whatever behind this epidemic is has special plans
for
us."
"Can
I see her, just to put my mind at ease?"
"You'd
better keep your head during all of this. We're going
to
need your strength, not your emotions," Vegeta said and Trunks
grimly
smiled.
"I
would expect nothing less from you, Father," he said.
"Are
you being sarcastic boy?"
"No,
of course not Father."
Vegeta
glared at his son for a moment then watched Goku walk
out of
the kitchen. Ridel ran up to Goku and Goku picked the dog up.
"Hello
there. I've heard a lot about you," he said as he
patted
Ridel on the head.
"He's
been getting all sorts of attention," Bulma said as
she
glanced at Vegeta.
"Really?
Who's been taking care of you?"
"Father,"
Trunks replied.
"Really?
Vegeta?" Goku asked and Vegeta glared at him.
"What's
so amusing Kakarot?" Vegeta demanded.
"I
can't picture you attached to an animal."
"It's
true Goku. Although I don't understand it either,"
Bulma
said.
"Keep
quiet woman!" Vegeta snapped.
"Boy
it must be true, since he's getting all upset," Goku
said.
"I'm
getting that cold chill again," Piccolo commented as
Trunks
sat down.
"Are
you all right honey?" Bulma asked.
"There's
something in the air. I can feel it," Trunks said.
"What
are you talking about?" Vegeta asked.
"There's
a presence Father. It's watching us, waiting to
make a
move."
"What?"
"Believe
me, Father. It's going to come for us, once it's
sure
that Loren is out of action."
"Did
it till you this?" Piccolo inquired.
"Not
vocally," Trunks replied.
"Then
how...?" Vegeta started to ask.
"I
wouldn't question him," Piccolo said.
"Can
we go check on her now?" Trunks asked.
"I
think we should."
An epidemic? What's going on here? No one

two of them in the house again really lowers the food
reserve,"
Bulma said.
"That's
kind of why I moved out," Gohan said as Goku walked
into
the kitchen.
"I'm
just lucky that Loren doesn't eat."
"You
mean he's lucky."
"Because
that means more food for him?"
"Well...yeah."
"What's
everyone doing here? I just came to get a drink,"
Trunks
said as he walked into the room mopping his forehead with a
towel.
"Honey..."
Bulma said as Trunks looked at her.
"What's
wrong?"
"Sit
down dear."
"What's
wrong with Loren?"
"She's
sick."
"What?"
"Loren
is sick."
"How?"
"I
don't know honey."
"Where
is she?"
"Dende
is watching her. She isn't the only one with the
illness.
A lot of cities have already caught it," Piccolo said.
"Are
you serious?" Trunks asked.
"Yes."
"Do
we know what's causing it?"
"No."
"So
how come we haven't been affected?"
"Because
whatever behind this epidemic is has special plans
for
us."
"Can
I see her, just to put my mind at ease?"
"You'd
better keep your head during all of this. We're going
to
need your strength, not your emotions," Vegeta said and Trunks
grimly
smiled.
"I
would expect nothing less from you, Father," he said.
"Are
you being sarcastic boy?"
"No,
of course not Father."
Vegeta
glared at his son for a moment then watched Goku walk
out of
the kitchen. Ridel ran up to Goku and Goku picked the dog up.
"Hello
there. I've heard a lot about you," he said as he
patted
Ridel on the head.
"He's
been getting all sorts of attention," Bulma said as
she
glanced at Vegeta.
"Really?
Who's been taking care of you?"
"Father,"
Trunks replied.
"Really?
Vegeta?" Goku asked and Vegeta glared at him.
"What's
so amusing Kakarot?" Vegeta demanded.
"I
can't picture you attached to an animal."
"It's
true Goku. Although I don't understand it either,"
Bulma
said.
"Keep
quiet woman!" Vegeta snapped.
"Boy
it must be true, since he's getting all upset," Goku
said.
"I'm
getting that cold chill again," Piccolo commented as
Trunks
sat down.
"Are
you all right honey?" Bulma asked.
"There's
something in the air. I can feel it," Trunks said.
"What
are you talking about?" Vegeta asked.
"There's
a presence Father. It's watching us, waiting to
make a
move."
"What?"
"Believe
me, Father. It's going to come for us, once it's
sure
that Loren is out of action."
"Did
it till you this?" Piccolo inquired.
"Not
vocally," Trunks replied.
"Then
how...?" Vegeta started to ask.
"I
wouldn't question him," Piccolo said.
"Can
we go check on her now?" Trunks asked.
"I
think we should."
For the first time, you see her people and what
they're talking about
can't
be very good. Someone up there or I guess down there is going to
be in
an awful lot of trouble...
"Elder..."
a young woman said as she walked into the room wrapped in
a
white robe. The elder turned away from a control table that he was
observing
and glanced at the newcomer.
"Yes
Yorin?" he asked.
"We
need to send Kalina back. The human is challenging
Demar."
"How
did he get into the Illness Vault to begin with?"
"The
keeper had momentarily fallen asleep. There was no
way we
could inform you of this while you were transcending planes. He
has
already destroyed Kalina's body. Since you left the young one
mortal,
Demar inflicted her body with the universal plague."
"The
universal plague? The disease used for planet
cleansing?"
"He's
acted quickly in your absence, Elder. He has also
broken
Kalina's neck and enraged the human carrying the other half of
the
link. Kalina must go back otherwise we will lose the link."
"I
cannot send the young one back until the cleansing is
complete.
I can't hurry this up. The cleansing takes time."
"But
it may be too late when the cleansing is complete."
"There
is nothing I can do, child. However, Demar will be
severely
punished for his actions."
"Can't
we send someone to intervene?"
"We
all have a job to do, Yorin. Keeping things in order down
there
is Kalina's job. I can't send anyone else."
"If
the human dies, the link is no more."
"Demar
is still one of us."
"But
if he should somehow gain control of the link, he gains
control
of everything."
"I
can't send Kalina back child. Not yet."
"Elder,
Kalina would be more upset at losing the human and
the
green one than at being sent back tainted. Those are her chosen
companions.
It would hurt more than anything else."
"All
right, Yorin, you have convinced me. I'll send Kalina
back
even though she isn't ready."
"You
know this is the right thing, Elder."
"Yes,
I know. I'll prepare Kalina for departure."
Battle Mode! Yes, needless to say, some people
aren't happy with what
Demar's
trying to get away with. Had to split the battle into I
believe
two parts. Didn't want you all stuck in a never ending
downward
scroll...
Kalina
stared at her body for a moment then glanced at Trunks, who
was
vainly trying to keep his anger under control. She walked
towards
him and took his hand. He stared at her, feeling her
presence
more than anything else.
"If
you will allow me to share your body, we ca defeat Demar.
Unfortunately,
it will take too long to mend my physical form and by
the
time I do, I'm afraid that it would be to late," she said and he
lowered
his head.
"What
are you doing boy?" Vegeta demanded.
"Don't
question him Vegeta," Piccolo said as Trunks gazed
coldly
at Demar.
"So
the elder sent you back before the cleansing was
complete.
Interesting. What's so special about these mortals
Kalina?"
Demar asked.
"Who's
he talking about?" Goku asked.
"I
believe that's Loren's actual name," the Supreme Kai said.
"You
were wrong to begin with Demar. You shouldn't have taken
the
plague. You have no right to administer the planet cleansing,"
Kalina
said as Trunks transformed into a Super Saiyen. His hair
lengthened
as he unfolded enormous lavender and white wings. He
gazed
coldly at Demar as a ball of energy began to form in his hand.
"She's
in his body?" Goku asked.
"I'm
assuming that it would have taken too long for her to
repair
her physical body so she temporarily fused with Trunks,"
Piccolo
said.
"I
don't mind them sharing a house but not the same body,"
Vegeta
growled.
"It's
the only thing that can save us. That creature's from
her
plane. She's the only one that can defeat it."
"YOU'RE
the threat, Kalina. You have no right to be with
these
mortals," Demar said.
"It
is my job. It's been my job ever since the threat arose
over
eight centuries ago. Besides, one gets awfully tired of creating
worlds
for eons," Kalina said.
"So
the elder didn't get to the memory wipe. Do you remember
everything,
Kalina? Do you remember the life you had before you were
sent
to the gutter? Do you remember watching the birth and death of
worlds?
Do you remember everything?"
"Honey...are
you okay?" Trunks asked as the ball of energy
in his
hand fluctuated in intensity.
"What's
happening?" Goku inquired.
"Loren's
mind is overloading. She now has a limitless amount
of
memories. That's why she always seemed so simple. She had to get
her
memory wiped every now and then so that she could function on our
level
or the closest she could get to our level. Now that she has her
complete
memory, she's thoroughly confused," the Supreme Kai said.
"Even
though that creature is trying to destroy us, it is
still
one of her own," Piccolo said.
"Why
don't we just blast that thing while it's distracted?"
Vegeta
asked.
"Let
her deal with it Vegeta. She knows more about it than we
do,"
Shin said.
"Why
do they get the tough opponents?"
"Hey
come on Vegeta. We've had out share of tough opponents,"
Goku
said.
"Just
because we've gotten older doesn't mean we should get
put
out to pasture."
"It
seems that your human father wishes to fight," Demar said
as he
gazed at Vegeta.
"I'm
a Saiyen, not a human you pitiful excuse of a god,"
Vegeta
snapped.
"Father,
don't," Trunks said.
"It
all becomes clear to me, Kalina. You're protecting them
all.
Well then, how about I permanently cleanse this section of the
universe?"
Demar inquired.
He
watched as the ball of energy between Trunks hand grew in
brightness
and grinned darkly. Demar raised a hand and the others
watched
as a dark ball of energy appeared in his hand.
"Are
you going to challenge me, Kalina?"
"I
made a promise. Nothing is going to make me break that
promise.
Not even you," Kalina said.
"Such
nobility. Bound to these mortals by your word. You know
that
while you stay here, countless others die. You aren't worthy to
be one
of us. I demand that an inhibitor be placed on your soul. You
have
shown compassion to mortals. We are supposed to observe, not get
involved."
"I
was chosen to get sent here Demar. YOU are the one that
has
broken the rules and should be punished. By your own words you
have
incriminated yourself. I am going to ban you from this plane for
eternity."
"Do
you have enough power to ban me?"
"Yes,
with some help."
"The
human you've fused with? What can he do? He's a human."
"You'd
be surprised."
"You've
caused enough trouble here. I won't let you hurt any
more
people," Trunks said coldly as he got into an attack position.
His
gaze darkened as he listened to Kalina's instructions.
He
released the ball of energy and watched as it split into
six
small spheres of light. The six spheres encircled Demar and
emitted
an enormous wave of energy. Demar cried out in pain as
Trunks
drew his sword, which transformed into an enormous staff
encrusted
with jewels and engraved with Celtic-like designs.
"Her
versatility is astonishing," the Supreme Kai commented
as he
watched Trunks dodge a blast of dark energy.
"She's
protecting us as well," Piccolo commented.
"Those
energy waves that he's emitting are laden with that
universal
plague. I don't see how she's protecting all of us and
fighting
that creature," Dende said.
"She's
the equivalent of a god. Her abilities are limitless,"
the
Supreme Kai said as the area around Demar became engulfed in
flame.
The others watched Trunks walk into the fury of the fire and
Vegeta
folded his arms in anger.
"I
hate standing around watching others fight. I could be
training
right now instead of wasting my time here," he growled.
"You've
had your share of battles Vegeta," Piccolo said.
"Trunks
has been taught extremely well. He's a formidable
opponent,"
Gohan said.
"I
wish they wouldn't rely on each other," Vegeta grumbled.
"Would
you stop complaining? You like having her and the dog
around,"
Goku said.
"What
dog?" Gohan asked.
"Trunks
got her a dog," Piccolo explained.
"It's
a cute dog," Goku said.
"Vegeta
really gets along with it."
"Seriously?"
Gohan asked.
"Would
you clowns shut up?" Vegeta demanded.
"Why
don't you just admit that you like the dog?" Goku asked.
"Why
would I want to admit something like that?"
"Because
it's true."
"That
doesn't mean anything.
"The
fire's grown in intensity," the Supreme Kai commented as
the
sky above them grew dark.
"I
wish I could see," Goku said as a frigid breeze blew past
them
and extinguished the roaring flames.
First off, there's a mistake in the other one
that I didn't catch.
Mentally
put an "n" on that lonely "c" and "a". I saw the
mistake
after
I posted. Sorry! Anyway, more Battle Mode! Someone is getting
EXTREMELY
upset. Gee, I wonder who that could be...
Trunks
stood there, his body scorched but apparently in no pain
whatsoever.
His gaze was a look that could freeze the blood of a
mortal.
He grinned, an expression that was more of a sneer than
anything
else, and raised his staff. He stared into Demar's black
eyes
as his weapon became engulfed with a pulsing blue energy.
"You're
really going to do this, aren't you?" Demar asked.
"I
have to keep the promise I made," Kalina replied.
"Promises
are overrated."
"Not
to the person the promise is to," Trunks said darkly and
Demar
looked at him.
"What
did you promise him, Kalina?" Demar inquired.
"What
does it matter?" Kalina asked.
"She
promised to never leave me," Trunks replied.
"How
sweet. You have...feelings for the human. I wasn't aware
that
such things were possible," Demar said.
"Shut
up. You have no right to mock us."
"A
lower creature is telling me what to do? I'm amused. He's
got an
attitude, doesn't he?"
The
energy around the staff flared in intensity as Trunks
clenched
it tightly in anger. He raised the staff into the air and
brought
is sharply down. Electricity crackled as he gazed coldly at
Demar.
He swung the staff and watched as Demar split into two equal
parts.
"It
takes a lot more to destroy a god," Damar said as the
parts
fused back together and released a blast of energy directly at
Trunks.
Kalina resisted the urge to cry out in pain as she felt
Trunks
senses reel in shock.
"I
don't give up easily," Trunks replied as he wiped blood
from
his mouth.
"Without
Kalina backing you, you wouldn't even be alive now."
"You
should never judge by appearances."
"How
much punishment is she willing to let you take?"
"How
much are you willing to dish out?"
"Cocky
aren't we?"
"Just
fight."
"You
know Kalina, the longer you take to ban me, the more
mortals
die because of the plague. I'm sensing some resistance. You
never
were the strongest one of us, were you? That's why you were
sent
here instead of one of the others. You were the easiest one to
throw
away."
"That
had an effect on her. Now that she's complete, the
insults
are wounding her deeply. If she was the way we know her,
these
remarks would have no effect on her. She also knows that the
longer
it takes, the more people die," Shin said.
"Can't
we do anything to help?" Goku asked.
"This
may sound stupid, but the only thing that we can do is
believe.
We all know she's extremely sensitive to emotions."
"That's
going to be difficult for Vegeta."
"Shut
up Kakarot!" Vegeta snapped.
"Guys,
a positive outlook is what we need," Gohan said.
"There's
strength in a good environment," the Supreme Kai
said
and Piccolo folded his arms in annoyance. He had known her too
long
to see her affected in such a way. He felt her emotions and
sighed.
She had to trust her own abilities. She was indeed
oversensitive
to emotions and now was when she needed that
sensitivity
the most.
Someone else has gotten extremely ticked off.
This is the end of this
story
but don't worry, I've already started another one about what
goes
on after she wakes up! I don't know what to call it yet but once
again,
Trunks is getting teased about his relationship with her.
Anyway,
here's the ending and a question for all of you. Would you
give
up the status of a god to keep a promise?
Trunks
released an energy blast and Demar took the brunt of the blast
in his
chest. He was thrown backwards by the sheer force of the
attack
and spread his wings to bring himself back to a stare of
balance.
He glared at the young Saiyen and stood up straight.
"You've
annoyed me now, Kalina. I control the demons of the
underworld.
I'm calling some out now to deal with your mortal
friends.
Then I'll deal with you," Demar said.
"I've
wasted enough time and the lives of mortals. I'm not
holding
back any more," Kalina said as Trunks allowed her full
control
of his body. She gazed coldly at Demar as she thrust the
staff
deep into the earth. She raised Trunks hands and Demar watched
as the
ground around her rose up and submitted to her power.
"Get
down everyone!" Piccolo commanded.
"What's
happening?" Goku asked.
"Remember
when she tried to destroy herself? She's using the
same
technique to send that creature back where it belongs."
"But
won't that destroy us?"
"No.
This time she's controlling the destruction. We'll be
perfectly
safe."
"However,
she may never recover from this," the Supreme Kai
said.
"She
never fully recovered from the tournament," Piccolo said
as he
shielded his eyes.
"I
doubt she'll ever be the same after this attack."
Numerous
small metallic shards appeared in Trunks hands and
Kalina
directed them at Demar. They embedded into his flesh and
Demar
yelped in pain. She appeared behind him and sharply broke his
wings.
His eyes grew red in rage as he grabbed Trunks arm and
brutally
hurled him over his head. Kalina landed on Trunks feet with
one
hand on the ground for balance and gazed dangerously at Demar.
Piccolo
shivered as he once again felt the extreme darkness that he
had
felt at the tournament. She had once again become the cold
creature
that he feared. He watched her attack sever the flesh of
her
opponent and glanced away. He couldn't watch any more.
"I
know it's not her way to be brutal, but if that's what it
takes
to send that creature back..." Shin said and the Namek glanced
at
him.
"It
pains me to see her this way. This isn't like her," he
replied
as Demar fell to the ground.
"Why?
Why did you give up your position for a mere mortal?"
Demar
asked as she appeared next to him and thrust the staff deep
within
his chest. He cried out in pain as she gazed mercilessly down
at
him.
"Because
they hold something I lost a long time ago," Kalina
said
as she appeared in front of Trunks. Demar's body disappeared in
a
blinding flash and she turned to face Trunks.
"Forgive
me for everything. My powers have been exhausted but
I will
be able to repair my physical form. Have someone place it on a
bed.
I'll fuse with it shortly. I don't know how long it will take
for me
to heal but when I do, please be gentle and patient with me. I
will
have wiped my own memory during the healing process and will not
be
able to use my healing powers for a while so I will be vulnerable.
When I
awake, I will not remember any of this. Only the memories that
are
dearest to me will remain. I do no wish to be what I am now and
have
always been any longer. I do not...enjoy my life as it has
always
been. I only want to be what you know me as. That simplicity
is a
much nicer feeling. What you've seen and felt and what Piccolo
feels
will be no more. I prefer the simple life here than the status
of a
god. Besides, Loren is a much nicer name than Kalina."
"Does
that mean you're giving up everything?" Trunks asked
as he
watched her walk over to where her body lay.
"Not
everything. I could never become a human mortal not
matter
how hard I tried. I'm giving up my powers of mass destruction.
Mortals...I
mean people can do that perfectly without my help. This
will
be the last time I see you like this so...goodbye," she said and
disappeared.
"We
need to get her to a bed," Trunks said and Piccolo picked
her
up.
"I
don't know what she said to you but she's permanently cut
all
ties to her realm, hasn't she?" he asked.
"She
said she preferred simplicity to the status of a god.
You
know, I think this was the first time she really had a choice in
the
whole thing."
"I
wonder if in her decision, she gave up her immortality."
"She
still has her healing abilities."
"Those
abilities are useless if the wound is fatal. Take
myself,
for example. I can regenerate as long as my head isn't
damaged.
If I sustain a head injury, my ability to regenerate is
useless."
"You
know, the good thing about all this is that she got
everything
back to they way it was before it happened," Goku said.
"I
wonder if that means that the worlds affected by the
plague
have been healed as well. I must check that out," the Supreme
Kai
said and disappeared.
"Do
you think we can take her home?" Trunks asked.
"I
wouldn't attempt the distance with her in this condition,"
Piccolo
replied.
"Well
couldn't Goku...?"
"Gee,
I don't know. I suppose I could try," Goku said as he
scratched
his head.
"You
wouldn't have to take us all back Dad. I mean, one of us
should
go and tell Mom that we're okay. I could do that and you could
take
them to Bulma's," Gohan said.
"That's
a good idea. Your mother is probably worried sick
about
us. I just hope I'm not in trouble when I get home."
"Hey,
I know this is going to be tough on you. Come visit us,
okay
Trunks? Bring the dog."
"All
right but I don't know if I can get Ridel away from
Father,"
Trunks said and Vegeta glared at him.
"You
know, Vegeta, maybe you should get one of your own,"
Goku
said and Piccolo handed Loren to Trunks.
"I'll
let you know when she's awake," he said and the Namek
grinned.
"I'll
know when she's awake," he replied.
