Unreal Tournament

Unreal Tournament is a great game in almost every respect. It has a lot of personality in everything in does, which only adds to this games greatness. It is easily the best tournament shooter on the market right now.

The level design in Unreal Tournament is absolutely incredible. The levels are all very different in both looks and size from each other, giving this game a lot of variety. UT contains four modes of play including deathmatch, domination, capture-the-flag, and assault. Of these modes, Assault is easily the best and gives UT a lot of its personality. The weapons in this game are very original and are very well balanced, always giving you a fighting chance in almost every situation. The character models are well done and, in my opinion, its good that they left out the stupid quake-ish freak aliens. The only flaw in this game is the lack of a real single player mode, which does bring down the game's score.

The mods for this game are absolutely incredible. The best one by far is TacOps, which is a team based game in which the special forces are pitted against terrorists, each faction trying to complete certain objectives. The gameplay in TacOps is very different from UT and plays more like Counterstrike than anything else.

Unreal Tournament is a great game in almost every aspect. Even with its complete lack of a single player mode, it still is one of the best FPS ever created and clearly dominates in the tournament shooter genre.

Graphics Unreal Tournament had top-of-the-line graphics when it was released. However, by today's standards the graphics are quite dated. Although the effects are still pretty good, the character models and enviroments are not that good looking by today's standards. 6/10
Gameplay This is the category in which UT performs especially well. The different modes are all very diverse and are very well made. The whole game is incredibly fun, especially due to the well-balanced weapons. However, the best mode for UT, by far, is assault. This mode involves two teams that each have separate objectives in which the other team tries to stop them. It is easily the best part of the game. One thing that helps the gameplay in UT are the well-designed levels. The levels are both diverse in looks, size, and design, giving the game a lot of variety. UT's gameplay on a whole is excellent. 9/10
Story Heh...This game has an awful story. The game is a deathmatch FPS, so what do you expect? How the story goes is that there is a company that has different people fight in arenas and it has become a popular sport. That is the extent of the story telling in this game. 1/10
Replay Unreal Tournament has a very high replay value. Although the game contains no single-player mode, the gameplay in multiplayer gives UT a very high replay mode with a lot of diversity. The mods for the game are also quite cool and serve to add to the replay value of UT. 9/10
Overall Unreal Tournament is one amazing game. The gameplay is pretty much perfect and the level design helps to amplify its greatness. The weapons are all diverse and balanced against each other, giving anyone a fighting chance in any situation. The modes, especially assault, are all incredibly cool and serve to amplify the UT experience. Besides the complete lack of a story and decent single-player mode, Unreal Tournament is a classic FPS in every right and should be in ever gamers collection. 9.1/10
