It's been a few years and Van has matured (really nicely)! He has been in the military academy training under the guidance of Colonel Krueger. Upon graduation, he joins up with Fiona and becomes a Lieutenant in the Guardian Force.
It is within this season we see a closer bond growing between Van and Fiona.
