Profile and informationFour-hundred years ago in the age of the ninjas, a newborn child, born to become the world's most powerful flame caster of all time, was sent four-hundred years into the future, to escape from the bloody clutches of the war that was raging on at that time, and hopefully, to live in a more peaceful era. Fifteen years after those four-hundred years passed, this newborn child grew into a young man, and, while discovering the true extent of his special powers, suceeded in gaining new friends along the way. His destiny... to become the next leader of the long extinct Hokage Ninja Clan. (Does this sound too much of a ripoff from other sites? *sweatdrop*)
This is the story of Recca Hanabishi, a 16 year old who is actually (Technically) 416. Son of the 6th Hokage leader, Ohka, and powerful ninja Kagerou, Recca was transported 400 years ahead of his time in safety, just as his family was facing its downfall against the samurai during the civil war (Led by this weirdo guy called something like Ohda Nobunada, the "Demon"). An innocent bystander in the name of Hanabishi found him as a newborn, adopting and raising him as his own son.
Sixteen years later, Recca finally learns of the powers bestowed upon him when he was a child. He represents the element of Fire and is able to unleash the power of flame concealed inside his body. Only with the Tekkou, (or armbands), is Recca able to control his powers. Without it, he can unleash a massive flame that is so powerful that even he has trouble controlling it. He is even in danger of being fatally burned by his power if he fails in battle. His flame takes the form of the Eight Dragons (Eight headed dragon, actually), the most powerful flame ever known to all flame casters. The eight dragons each have their own personality and ability, (sometimes they even appear in human form) although Recca is not able to control all of them in the beginning. Before he is allowed to summon every one of them at his command, he must become stronger, and gain their respect one by one, so to speak.
Characteristic-wise, Recca is a goodhearted person, but he tends to be hot tempered (Of course he is! What else would you expect from a FLAME caster?) He also loves to boast about his special powers and abilities, though. Besides being boastful, he is a serious person when it comes to serious situations, especially after his first meeting/rescue of a young girl named Yanagi Sakoshita, whom he promised (well, maybe took it as an oath) to take care of and protect from any harm. As the story goes, he meets up with new friends whom he faces right before he gains friendship from them: Domon Ishijima, Fuuko Kirisawa, Tokiya Mikagami, and later on, (MUCH later on) Kaoru Koganei. Together, they are the brand new generation of the Hokage Ninja Clan, and together, they must fight against the evil Kouran Mori and another Hokage figure from the past - Recca's half-brother from four hundred years ago, Kurei.
What I like about Recca is that he isn't your perfect kind of hero. He flares up quickly and, and at the beginning, he's obsessed with ninjas and constantly challenges others to fights, swearing that if they beat him, he will become their personal ninja (read: slave. ) for the rest of his life. That's hardly something you would expect the perfect hero to do, right? *grin* Although he CAN be dashing and chivalrous when he wants to, it's the balance of good and bad points that makes him so lovable.
