Set in modern-day London, the Hellsing Institution is a secret organization led by Integral (granddaughter of Abraham Van Helsing) that keeps citizens safe from vampires and ghouls running around. Their most secret and deadly weapon is the extremely powerful vampire Alucard. Alucard, on one of his missions, transforms Seras Victoria into a vampire in order to save her life. And thus, Victoria joins the Hellsing Institution.
However, the Institution discovers there are ‘artificial’ vampires made from FREAK chips roaming the streets of London. The FREAK chips’ origin remains a mystery while Hellsing is kept busy killing the growing number of ‘artificial’ vampires and ghouls.
As if things couldn’t get worse, the Iscariot 13th Division wages constant war with Hellsing. Alexander Anderson, the priest agent of Iscariot makes it his mission to kill every vampire, everyone in Hellsing, and so of course, Alucard
Characters
- Alucard-Alucard is definitely the greatest character in the entire series. He’s the master of Celes, who he made into a vampire to save her life. He in turn, considers Integral his master and is suprisingly loyal to his employer. Alucard’s actual history is quite unknown. What we do know is, Integral found Alucard chained underneath the Hellsing Instituition. Since then, he works under Integral killing off low-level vampires, disgusted of their mere shallow existence. In fact, he takes great joy disposing the lesser vampires-- killing them with a huge grin on his face-- using his two custom-made, vampire-killing, guns, the Jackal and the 454 Casull. As Hellsing’s secret and most deadly weapon, he can pop out from walls, withstand being shot and sliced into pieces (his body parts just connect back together and regenerates), transform parts of his body into many devil-flesh-eating dogs, and turn his opponent into ashes. Not to mention the fact that he shows not an ounce for respect for his opponent, making him quite the badass.
- Celes Victoria-Victoria was a police officer on a mission when all her team members were killed and turned into ghouls by a vampire. She ran for cover into a nearby church, where she was taken hostage by the vampire priest who uses her as a shield against Alucard. Celes agrees with Alucard that he would shoot through her lungs to kill the vampire. Alucard offers to turn her into a vampire and she accepts. And so, the vampire was killed and Celes was turned into a vampire. Since this incident, Victoria has been working in the Hellsing Institution, with Alucard as her master. She’s confused and doesn’t want to drink blood, but finds that she must to stay alive; so she drinks the medical blood Hellsing supplies for her. She uses a 30 mm anti-freak cannon, Halconnen.
- Sir Integral Wingates Hellsing-this is the woman who runs the Hellsing Institution. The granddaughter of Abraham Van Helsing (from Dracula, by Bram Stoker). The Hellsing Institution has been in her family for many generations and was almost taken over by her Uncle Albert, who turned out to be a traitor. She found Alucard underneath Hellsing, who in turn saved her life from her Uncle. Since then, she’s had Alucard working under her. And though she has almost complete control over the organization, she knows that she cannot completely control Alucard.. Either way, she’s always serious, totally absorbed in her goal of ridding the world of vampires and ghouls. The only thing that brings her an ounce of satisfaction is watching vampires being turned into dust.
- Alexander Anderson-He’s the priest who works in the 13th Division of the Pope’s Special Task Force Iscariot Division. Despite the fact that he too can regenerate body parts and move hella fast, he’s human. He hates Alucard and vows to kill him as well as all other members of Hellsing. He has a strange kind of magic and also uses very deadly swords which he enjoys slicing people up with.
- Walter Kum Donne-Walter’s the steward of the Hellsing family, and has been with the family for a long time. He helps with investigations, getting new weapons for the group, and making sure everything’s going smoothly. He uses an attack where wires shoot out from his hands and slices ghouls in half. Don’t let his old age and looks fool you, he could kick your ass any day
Rating:***'(three and a half stars)
Review-It’s gothic, dark, and twisted, with great fight scenes. What more could you want? Definitely worth watching. The only complaint is that it leaves you with more questions then you started out with. BUt still worth watching.
