Wild Beauty
In Language Arts last year we had to do a poetry project, this is one of the Free Verse poems I wrote for it. In my opinion, it's the best one out of the whole project (which isn't saying much ^_^).
Running wild,
through the woods,
I see him running,
with demonic speed.
I watch, caught up in awe,
at this magnificent creature.
When God created him,
he took extra care,
making the wild beauty,
perfect in every way.
His coat, golden as the sun,
shines and shimmers,
as he dances in and out of sunbeams.
His legs,
strong and lean,
pound down on the ground,
yet seem to make no sound.
His body ripples,
with the firm muscles that give him,
this gift of speed and freedom.
He tosses his head proudly,
the hair that streams out from behind it
seems to be made of liquid gold,
flowing and radiant.
Those eyes,
filled with intelligence and arrogance,
take in everything around him.
With those eyes,
he spots me.
Then the wild beauty,
stops his ceaseless running,
and looks at me.
He plants his feet and lowers his head,
peering intently out at me,
from underneath long, blonde lashes.
I dare not move or even breathe,
for his gaze holds me frozen.
I see in his eyes,
joyfulness and pride.
He is brash and bold, fearing nothing,
even man, the one being on earth
who could take away his freedom,
his life.
Then he backs up slightly and snorts softly.
I start,
and let out a breath
I did not know I had been holding.
I watch as the Wild Beauty digs at the ground
with those feet like wings,
and tosses his head.
He begins to run again,
then at the edge of the clearing,
he stops and looks back at me once more.
He stares at me with his eagle eyes,
then he is gone.
I sit there for I do not know how long.
Then slowly I stir,
watching the world swirl around me in wonder.
I have never seen such a glorious sight as he.
The Wild Beauty.
The Horse.
