Squall Leonhart

Age: 17
Height: 5' 8"
Date of Birth: August 23
Blood Type: AB
Occupation: SeeD soldier and leader
Weapon: Gunblade
Special Skill (Limit Break): Renzokuken, and the 4 ending moves: Rough Divide, Fated Circle, Blasting Zone, and the deadly Lion Heart

Squall is a very aloof guy, and has earned the title of a lone wolf or loner at Balamb Garden. He owns and uses an elegant and rare weapon called a Gunblade, which takes years to master. He has a heated rivalry with the other Gunblade master at Balamb, Seifer Almasy. Although Squall is not one to get into trouble with authority at the Garden, Squall doesn't turn down a challenge from Seifer. Actually, that action is what resulted into a battle in which both young men left scarred. Literally. In the opening cinema of Final Fantasy VIII, Seifer and Squall are both dueling with their Gunblades (and beautifully animated, I might add!). Seifer made a cheap shot with a fire-type magic , in which Squall was thrown back. Then Seifer took this big swing at Squall with his Gunblade, and slashed Squall's face, giving him a cut so deep, it would never heal. Squall wasn't defeated yet, so he got up and swung his Gunblade underhand, giving Seifer the same scar in the same place, except, it was on the other side of his face.

He was orphaned at a young age, and lived at an orphanage on the Centra continent with a woman named Edea, whom the children called Matron, and her husband, Cid Kramer. Until an unknown age, Squall was raised at this orphanage with Zell, Quistis, Selphie, Irvine and Seifer, until he was brought to Balamb Garden. He was then raised at Balamb Garden knowing not many emotions, and thrived on dicipline. Squall, as I said before, was an aloof and quiet guy in the beginning of the game. He avoids people and conversations whenever he can, which has made him a mysterious guy. He is cold to others, and has never EVER been seen smiling. His peers have learned to leave him alone, and don't try to converse with him at all. Even when graduating and becoming a full-fledged SeeD, Squall didn't ease up a bit. But, apon meeting Rinoa Heartilly at his graduation party, even for a few short minutes, it turned Squall's world upside-down. Squall is cold and diceplined, while Rinoa is happy and carefree. But will Rinoa and Squall's gang of friends be enough to melt Squall's cold heart?

As the game progresses, he talks more, and is forced to be with the same 5 people: Quistis, Rinoa, Selphie, Zell, and Irvine, over and over again, until it's not a bad thing for him. Squall is surrounded by 5 friendly people during his missions, which help him realize he can't be like the way he is forever. He begins to see Rinoa flirt with him and kind of ignores it. When you watch him reject Rinoa's flirting, ya just wanna bitch-slap him, but, he's just confused.

Deep down, Squall's a good kid, and Rinoa is the one that acknowledges this. Squall slowly but surely begins to develop feelings for Rinoa, but doesn't show them. But, during a fight with a possesed Sorceress Edea, Rinoa is hit with a spell, and gets possessed herself for a minute. Then Rinoa is placed in a sleep-like state. It is after this when Squall reconized his true feelings and opens up a new side of him that was hidden for 17 years to the sleeping Rinoa. He visits her in the Balamb Garden infirmiry and talks to her when no one's looking. "Rinoa...call my name." he tells her. He also says things like how he wanted to hear her voice and wonders if he will again.
