Kikyou

Kikyou is the priestess that protected the Shikon no Tama. Right after she sealed InuYasha to the tree she died from a fatal wound that she had received earlier. She told her younger sister, Keade, to burn the jewel with her body so that no one would be able to use it for evil. This worked until Kagome was born with part of Kikyou’s soul along with the Shikon no Tama inside of her body. In episode 14 her ashes were stolen by a demon named Urasue. Urasue brought Kikyou back from the dead, well sort of. Kikyou is now a clay body that resembles her former look with only part of her soul. She wanders in the living world by using the souls of the dead. She refuses to lay to rest until InuYasha is killed. It is not certain whose side she is on, InuYasha’s or Naraku’s.

Appearance: Kikyou has long black hair that is usually found tied back by a white tie/ribbon. She is always seen wearing her miko (priestess) robes, which included large red pants and a white long-sleeved shirt. Her outfit is identical to Keade’s outfit. For the majority of the series she is also found carrying a bow and arrows.

Personality: In her former life (before she died) Kikyou was a quiet and kind priestess that protect the Shikon no Tama from demons and humans that wanted the jewel for their own petty ambitions. However, when she comes back to life she is more of a vengeful spirit. She says that InuYasha betrayed her and gave her the fatal wound that she died from. However, InuYasha never remembers doing such a thing. That is the reason why she refuses to rest in peace.

Family & Friends: The only family of Kikyou's that is known is her younger sister Keade. No real friends are ever mentioned in the series except for the fact that InuYasha and Kikyou were in love before they thought that they betrayed each other.
