                      Fooly Cooly

Fooly Cooly, also known as Furi Kuri is a series that is 6 episodes long.  The story revolves around an elementary boy named, Naota.  He has a brother who is in America playing baseball.  Naota lives with his father and apparently has no mother. Naota is seeing Mamimi, his brothers ex-girlfriend.  She is in high school and uses Naota as a substitute for her ex, Naota's brother. This leads me to believe that Naota uses Mamimi as a mother substitute.  On top of all this, an alien girl named Haruko  crashes into Naota, literally. He falls for her, and thus a love triangle of sorts is created.

Throw in a robot mistaken as a God, a dude with gigantic eyebrows, perverted old men, the  ability of not being physically hurt and you have yourself Fooly Cooly.  What is Fooly Cooly? Don't  really know myself.  I tried lookin the phrase up but I kept getting weird translations.  So, I'll stick  with my first thought.  It's something to do with sex. Although there's sex thrown all over the place,  it's really not a story about sex.

Fooly Cooly is a story of a young boy coming to age.  All those before him know that it's not an  easy  transition.  Doesn't necessarilly mean it's not an enjoyable experience, but it is something that  can  definitely be used as the foundation of a story.  Above all, Fooly Cooly is a comedy.  The  animation is  beautiful to watch.  Whether it turns from normal to slapstick animation, Fooly Cooly is  one that  doesn't disappoint.  By the way, things move quite fast. I believe frames were shot at ones  at some  points.  So, I recommend watching this series more than once.

          *rating: 5/5
          *genre: Sci-Fi/Comedy, Drama, Action
*pros: Canti, Haruko, Mamimi, and Naota...
*cons: Still don't have a clear meaning of "Fooly Cooly". The series is too short too.
