Vandread
For men, women can seem as if they are
from another world. Well in Vandread that is exactly the case.
The human race lives on planets other than the Earth. And the
relationship between men and women is nonexistent. Men live on
one planet and women on another. They went as far as separating
the genders into separate races.
Well that's only the background for this anime. The plot thickens
as we find out, not only do the men and women war against each
other in outerspace, but there is also an Artificially Intelligent
race out to destroy them both.
Vandread will never bore you. Action scenes are in 3D computer
graphics, but the majority of the anime is in traditional 2D.
Unlike a few other anime that has the 3D in it, the 3D done in
Vandread doesn't take away from the anime at all.
The story revolves around Hibiki. Hibiki is of the male race that
gets kidnaped by female pirates running away from their home planet.
He and a few other men, join forces with the pirates in order
to prevent an attack by the Artificially Intelligent race set
on destroying both the men and women. Vandread takes a lot of
ideas from Martian Successor Nadesico: and puts a creative spin
on it's underlining story. With as many as 3 or 4 love triangles
going on at the same time while the action heats up, the series
is very fun to watch.
The anime is split up into two seasons or volumes: Vandread
and Vandread: The Second Stage. Both of which are at the
top of my anime review list.
I rate this as A MUST OWN.
Genre: Mech
Pros: Fun all the way through
